DRIVE- 2011 Kia Sportage EX

15 years ago Kia came to America with a small little sport ute called Sportage. It's now the only model left from that initial launch. The 3rd generation is all new and a significant change from those before it. Tom Voelk has a preview.

Wonderful car ! I bought it and receive it this 4th january 2011 (full option for 27300 euro) This is the better car of 2011. before I had an AUDI A3 and i can say Kia is better than AUDI (design, quality , cost ,...) I really happy to have this car !!

@rsxzx6r The 4-cyl Rav4 (w/ less equipment, keep in mind) is $29k. The Highlander can get a little over $41k w/o the hybrid powertrain.

I LOVE THIS CAR! My biggest complaint is the rear signal light placement. I live in an urban area where fender-benders & bumper taps while parallel parking are common.. With this design, I'd be concerned with breaking the rear turn signals & with the signals placed so low, vehicles parked behind me will block my indicator when I'm wanting to pull out of a parking space..

i love what kia is doing with there vehicles now they are really giving the other car companies a run for their money. What I'd like to see is a comparison between the Kia Optima 2011 and the Hyundai Sonata 2011 as they are both seeking to dominate their class.

@bg1379 im pretty sure a v6 rav4 (270hp!) is around that price....and the highlander(not hybrid) is in the low 30's...fully loaded 36k - 38k

Sweet ride. My SUV is an 09' Jeep SRT8 Supercharged. I love that car, but its a gas guzzler. I already paid for it in full, I am actually planning on selling it and getting something newer looking and better for my wallet. Maybe this Kia will be a contender...who knows. Kia is looking pretty sharp nowadays

Nice looking exterior and interior(hard touch plastics could be upgraded) but i would easily recommend the cr-v over this. You cant judge reliability on a new gen. car and hondas resell value is still the best in the business. That being said i prefer the 2011 kia optima and hyuandi sonata over hondas accord.

Not saying that German engines might not be better. What I'm saying is that the the 0-60 quoted is NOT the 270 hp engine, it's 176. The 0-60 time on the 270 hp (2.0 Turbo) is 6.1 seconds, so maybe you should re-watch it.

ALL I SEE these days is smiling customers at KIA VERNON and this is great for our sales department as we have now caught up to Toyota in our local area. Take this for a drive and you'll fall in love with it. I don't sell cars.... i show KIAS!

@vaporsilver Well I decided to keep my Jeep. I am fine with it, it's a nice aggressive bad-boy with black rims, I really like driving it. Especially with winter coming up, I don't know this new "pretty-boy" aluminum Kia can hold up. Just saying. Anyways, I think this is a decent car but I think I'll pass.

I looked at this, CR-V, RAV-4, Tucson, Rogue at the Auto Show, and this was BY-FAR the best out of ALL of them.. If only people would get over the Kia nameplate and by the BETTER more exciting CUV! RAV-4 and CR-v are so BORING and UGLY compared to this! I love it i want one so bad!

Hard plastic dash? Damn, that's disappointing. That's super super cheap. The new Hyundai Tucson interior looks more upscale, although I prefer the Sportage's dash design.
