The building at 4:01 is palace of Serbia, it was built in Yugo era and it was the headquarters of Federal Executive Council of Yugoslavia. Now it's also a government building and closed for public, although they open it for museum nights (local festival when all museums are open in one day) since it's really massive and have unique decoration. Actually all 6 Yugo republics had one big room dedicated to them with special decoration and furniture that represent their culture, and also it has one of the biggest glass chandeliers in the world.

A question. Iff you enter Serbia from Romania. What can the Serbian bordercontrol ask you? Passport, visa or something like that? I may need it next year to transfer to Slovenia from Romania. I'm from Belgium btw and a have obviously a Belgian (EU) passort. Thanks

Hi mate. Just your passport, they adopted visa free entry a few years ago for the standard 90 days for EU, UK passport holders. I have been a few times between Romania to Serbia and back and yes 100% just passport no visa. Very hassle free crossing between both countries.

So only way to cross borders is by highway? With all the controls? Just asking bc me living in some small EU country, I am not really used to closed borders anymore. They tried with covid, but there were big holes in the net.

I only went by car for this trip my friend and yes all controls were in place. Easier with EU passport, but still needed vaccination proof or PCR tests etc. I am a poor Englishman now lol, feel like a European outsider now since we decided to leave the EU.

There is only 2 possible entrences from the 2 nations due to the Danub river going along the whole border. Usually you'll have 3/4 major border crossings and few local ones for the farmers ehich have fields on the other side of the border.

Crossing from Hungary to Serbia took 6 hours. Patience is golden.

When you cross the border between EU countries, are there border guards at the border?

Between Schengen countries or EU member states no there aren't. It's just border poles marking the countries and signs and you can drive across. Cross into EU from non EU yes you will need to shoe passport.

Yes mate they do...it's a hard border because Serbia is not in the EU...all passengers have to hand over ID.

There is few reasons you waited longer on Croatian border than the Serbian one. One reason is that you were exiting the nation so they don't really do checks that offten Second is that Croatia is in EU unlike Serbia and EU has strict border checks with non-EU nations. It's same situations with other EU members that border non-EU nations.

Croatia is definitely part of the EU!Croatia also has it’s own currency called the Kuna.

Hi Chelsea..yes no disagreement about it being part of the EU..the debate I was having with my mate was whether it used its own currency still like we do in Romania. He was adamant they used the Euro and I said I wasn't so sure. So in the petrol station the ladies told me they used the Kuna. Like I say also, the beauty of doing travel as an adventure is doing it unscripted and with little planning, just deal with new things as they occur, that's what I love about travel...ty again and stay safe.

Did they stamp your passport??

Yes I did get my passport stamped. After leaving EU, you will find that old UK EU passports will now get stamped. In Serbia and Bosnia they will stamp anyway as they are not in the EU. Now I have my Romanian residency card, I get treated as an EU resident and don't get stamped and can use EU and Schengen passport lanes again.

very interesting videos , but i am lost as to why you went to bosnia just for a couple of hours ,,as for police traffic fines ,serbia has so many unmarked police cars it is scary to say the least , and they patrol the motorways in packs , but the sneakiest police have to be the germans , as they use adapted camper vans on the autobhans to catch out everyone ,they are fitted with special viewing panels and also cameras ,,the strangest border crossing for me is the bulgaria to turkey crossing in the mountains of malko turnovo , as they charge a disinfectant tax where by you drive through a water trough for the sum of two euros , a bit of a con, the turkish border guards are not friendly at all ,and because i had not owned my car for 6 months then it was refused entry but i could carry on ,on foot ha ha ,,,and when they eventually allowed my car into turkey ,they actually add a stamp of your car details into your passport ,and the car must leave when you leave no matter what or you have to pay really heavy veh taxes and fines ,,,,,

Ty for comment my friend and apologies for late reply. This was just a flying road trip. I normally make a first trip to new places, just to drive through have a look, get a feel for a place and then will go back at a later stage for a more in depth explore. Plus with work commitments, was just a few days as driving content. The police actually surprised me most in Bosnia-HG, seemed to be everywhere. I will try the Bulgaria to Turkey crossing soon as I want to go to Gallipoli in Turkey at some stage. Very sneaky of the German police lol..stay safe my friend and safe travels!
