For anyone reading with the same issue, it might be worth checking the style of lower box installed in your car. The first few years of the C6z came with a metal-on-metal lower box. No bushings. IIRC, there were complaints of rattles from the shifter from owners and Chevy used a lower box with bushings in the later years to address it. Considering the C6z box fits in C5s and C6s, it could be worth checking that the previous owner didn't install the Z box.

I had a vibration in my shifter on my Z06 and found out when it was on the dyno I had a bad clutch. Once they installed a new clutch the vibration was gone. Just a thought

Here's my take on the rattlle. If the rattle only occurs when the shift knob (either one) is on, then the knob must be creating an imbalance (like a counter-weight from the top of the shifter) to something lower in the linkage. Maybe take off the leather boot and see what's happening under there. Just a thought...

I have a 2008 Saturn Sky 5 speed. I had the buzzing on my shift knob as well. I slipped a tight black o-ring between the knob and boot/shaft. No more loose, noisy shift knob.

I just put on a burlwood stock-style shifter from APSIS, it has a comfy feel. I like this C5R one though. Ergonomics-wise it should have a 20+° bend to the left for a natural grip?

Could it be the linkage? 100k is a lot of shifts, I would look at the shift link bushings. It can't cost that much to replace them, especially if you do it yourself. Just a guess to help, I hope.

If u still wanna try getting rid of the Vibration. Highly recommend a used/new C6 Z06 shifter. With 1 washer for anti-venom mod. That’s what I have in my C5 personally and love it.

The camera up top is a GoPro Hero 8 on a suction mount attached to the roof! The Corvette has a glass targa roof so I can suction mounts to it!

I know what you mean man, little rattles drive me batshit crazy!! I have a small rattle at the base of my dash on the drivers side that’s just around 1500-1700 rpm’s that drives me nuts!! And it isn’t my cowl panel! I can’t find out what the hell it is!!
