Good video as all ways, can't wait to see the finished results. Just a little tip, the next time you install a gasket, put the gasket on the pipe, then use sewing thread to attach the gasket to the pipes through the bolt holes on the pipe and gasket, this will allow you to attach the pipe without worrying about the gasket falling of especially when you're working by yourself, the thread will burn itself off once the pipes heat up. Hope this is a good tip for you.

Jake... This is only my opinion. Your C5 sounds much better than your brother's C6! That deep tone of your C5 is AWESOME! Your brother's C6, on the other hand, sounds, for a lack of a better word, "Tinny". I hope you're happy with the outcome, it is your C5 and you have to make it your own, I get that. I have Borla Stingers on mine and I wouldn't change them for any other. Thumbs up from me as usual... Stay safe Brother... Rico

By the way.... SLP made the LOUDMOUTHS and the LOUDMOUTH II system .... bought New from SLP, it cost $980 in 2007... which was pretty ridiculous for a couple of Bent pipes with nice etched tips, a couple of over-the-axel pipes, and a solid metal tubular hanging / leveling bar...

I'm glad I'm not the only one (poor choices) haha. My C6 I have Borla Stingers, if a NASCAR and a formula 1 car had a baby that's what my C6 sounds like I also have long tube headers and 3-in straight pipes going into the stingers. They sound insane. It does have drone in sixth gear but I always leave it in fifth problem solved.

@@yungtooli The same up to the turbo muffler which Borla calls it "S" type, then splits into a total of 4 exhaust tips Google C5 corvette with Bola "S" type and you'll see.

Ditch the factory "H" pipe and go with an X-pipe. Pretty easy to "frankensteiner" one by cutting out the "H" section and installing a universal X-pipe. I did it back in 2013. Got the X-pipe on eBay for about $30. Good luck with getting those other parts you need to finish your install.

I have Borlas on my first Corvette(that I own again) and it's a great exhaust(plus i love the 2 pipe look). I've considered putting it on my stroked and blown FRC but with the cammed 402 and headers, it maybe a bit too loud for California without getting harrassed by the po po. Hope you enjoy your new exhaust. Not the route I would have gone, but it's your car and you should make it the way you want.

I Know SLP discontinued making these shortly and then released them again... I think you got their second release of the SLP LOUDMOUTHS because my Exhaust tips look MUCH different (and no offense but much better looking) they shouldn't have changed the shape of the tips because the originals looked awesome as they were... ALSO, when I bought mine back in 2007, the system didn't come with those baffles... it just came with the pipes and hanger bar and the paperwork that came with them explained that because of the curvature of the pipes, they are classified as "Reflection Mufflers " sounds just like a technical excuse to tell police if they pull you over ... They are the loudest system for a C5 by a long shot but it's AMAZING how tame they actually are if that's your only Mod/Exhaust Mod... I thought mine were loud when I first got them as it was the first thing I ever did to my C5 when I bought it in 2007... THEN I installed the most expensive front system on the market to complete the entire Exhaust system being custom... I put on the LG Motorsports LG Pro 'Full Race' Long-Tube Racing Headers which dumped out into LG Pro Racing Test-Pipes which basically just let's you ditch your Cats (which the Cats were like cinder blocks compared to the Test Pipes... then the test pipes dump out into LG Pro Racing X-Pipes which dump out to the SLP Loudmouths .... I imagine that entire setup would have made the car much louder than ONLY having the SLPs but I wouldn't be able to say how much because I did a ton of motor work at the same time which is too much to list in this comment but one thing that obviously made it sound like impending doom and approaching death was definitely the MTI-R1 Race Cam.... just taking into account the LG full Exhaust and the R1 Cam had me hysterically laughing when I started the car for the first time in my driveway... the Loudmouth system alone was but a slight rumble compared to what it is now... when I start the car in my driveway, the picture frames hanging on the walls inside my house start to rattle and shake against the wall hahahaha... I've met SO many C5 owners and they ALWAYS have either the Borla Stinger system or the BBs... I rarely ever see someone else with SLP Loudmouths which I don't get cuz they sound better ... good video though... Nice to hear and remember what mine first sounded like when I just bought it... keep mod'n!

I had slp lm on my 00 z28. It sounded great. It dynoed at 298. Factory was 305 at engine. So I'm thinking the lm added some power. Now the question is should I put slp on the c6? Great video as always

What is it about boys that age that like to make as much noise as they can? Lol. In the early 70's I had a 69 mach 1 428CJ. It had headers, short pipes and glass packs on it. I had to baby it around town but out on the road I cut loose every chance I got. Oh, by the way. You have some serious blue smoke. Bad valve seals?

Do yourself a favour, when you are under your vette the next time replace the H-Pipe vor an x Pipe. They are known for going bad (had this on my c5, adds a nice nasty rattle) and sound with an x pipe is so much better.
