I couldn’t agree more. I do this and tell my friends especially at night, drive in the right-hand lane. I don’t understand how anyone no matter how intoxicated could get on a road or interstate the wrong way. Granted, I guess it could be a case of dementia or a severe medical emergency, you never know, but I guess it could also be a suicidal person who doesn’t care about hurting others, too. I’m so glad the other party has so far survived.

Your best chance for survival is drive on the right shoulder as the wrong way driver approaches you. I’ve done it several times I’m my tractor trailer. Once with a CHP chasing the wrong way driver .

TRAGIC UPDATE! DPS said two people in the second vehicle, a man and a woman, were seriously injured. The 29-year-old woman later died at the hospital and has been identified as Dayana Viola Aguilar. According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a 23-year-old woman was driving in the wrong lane and struck another car. The wrong-way driver was killed in the crash and has been identified as Maria Delrefugio Vazquez of Glendale, DPS said. The Maricopa County Medical Examiner will determine if the driver in this crash was impaired. ADOT said thermal cameras along I-17 detected the wrong-way driver near Bethany Home Road and prompted "Wrong-Way Vehicle Ahead" signs. It's incredible they had just passed under the sign on the bridge warning motorists about a wrong way driver when the accident occurred. There is another video showing the collision. Sadly, it looked as though the driver (Riceol) didn't even try to swerve out of the way.

I was almost hit by a wrong way driver on my way home from work one night. It appeared to have hit a motorcyclist who was several cars ahead of me. But, miraculously, it wasnt as severe. Because that rider got up and ran across the freeway towards the right shoulder. Meanwhile, i swerved towards the right shoulder as I was in the far right lane to avoid a head-on with the wrong way driver. While I was swerving towards the shoulder though, I nearly clipped the motorcycle rider who was struck earlier. Going 70 mph and attempting a full stop was impossible. Could easily lose control so I slowed down as much as possible and maneuvered just enough to avoid hitting the motorcycle rider. It was a close call with death not just for me, but for countless others as well. I did not see any news story about it so I'm unaware if that wrong way driver may have crashed into other vehicles or not.

Man you were on it to catch that one. This wrong way thing is getting out of control. States are taking to much time "trying to come up with a solution." Where I live in the last 2 years several cops had to drive head on into wrong way drivers to stop them. Thankfully none of them died but some were very seriously hurt. Someone once suggested a engine shut down/ warning when your vehicle recognizes it is travelling the wrong way which, I know I know, could potentially create a dangerous situation too but.........

This happened in Metro Detroit earlier this morning at 3am. A woman was driving on I-96, wrong direction, hit another vehicle head-on. I will never understand how and why someone does this and I refuse to think that they are making a mistake. I believe that they purposely get onto the freeway, because they are lazy and do not care.

Fact: most people in this country are on anti depressants and other related drugs. Most of those are classified as legal amphetamines. So basically you have 30% of the population on anti depressants, which essentially is the same as smoking meth… it makes you not worry about consequences , or risk.
