Driver Dead After Crashing Into Steel Pole In Westminster

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 1-28-25, 12:29 a.m.
LOCATION: Sr22 E / Goldenwest St
AREA/CITY: Westminster
DETAILS:
California Highway Patrol, Westminster, and Orange County Fire Authority responded to a solo vehicle traffic collision on the freeway.
When units arrived on the scene, they found a vehicle that was on its roof and between the K-rail and against the cement base of the freeway road sign.
Extrication took about 12 minutes.
Firefighter paramedics pronounced the occupant deceased at the scene.
A Sig Alert has been issued for a few hours.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.

The driver apparently meant to exit and instead of taking the marked offramp, she drove all way to the right of the guardrail. That grassy area had the guardrail on the left and the sound wall on the right, and it quickly narrowed down to nothing, and the signage pole was waiting for her at the end.
