I was a bit hesitant about that, but left it in as it is another example of idiotic traffic lights in Melbourne with the only conflicting movement being that car stopped at the red Arrow. I expect that most tram drivers would ignore the stupid red T and Yarra should be happy since it helps keep the tram on time.

As a Sydneysider, I always find Melbourne trams odd. I'm just so used to segregated track and proper platforms, compared to Melbourne where there is shared track and stops on the footpath. Never the less, I still loved the video.👍👍

The old Sydney trams ran in the street exactly the same as Melbourne before they got scrapped by 1961.

Nice Video 👍 I heard about Yarra Trams are planing a new Type of tram the F Class. From 2025 this New F Class would come on duty. I think they would replace the Z3 and A Class trams. Another thing Sydney is now in a Lockdown and this time it would be for longer

Yarra has announced intentions for some further new trams but no details at all have been announced except that they are expected to be shorter than the E class which are about 33 m long. While the Z3 and A class are not worn out yet, some of the need is laws which allow easy access for disabled people. Sydney has been in lockdown for about five weeks now, with another four weeks announced recently. Part of the problem is that the government did not want to hurt businesses so the initial lockdown was too soft and too late. Now the whole city is in trouble. And the lockdown could go on for very much longer. People from New South Wales are not allowed into other states.

Well, I'll have to admit it's different from the Plenty Road I knew in the late 1960s. There was still a drive-in cinema opposite the high school. Remember drive-ins? No, I guess not. At least, you weren't deafened, like in today's multiplexes.

Not that I have been there, but there is still a drive-in cinema at Yatala, halfway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. I don’t think any remain in Brisbane.

Unless it was a big screen, you would not see much. It’s really up to the viewer to find a Melbourne map but I think you might find this of use. It’s nice to know that some of my viewers watch the video so closely! 😄 This is just another example of the idiotic traffic lights in Melbourne, programmed to hinder trams as much as possible. If you consider the location, the only possible conflict would be a car doing a turn, a U-turn I think it was. There is one car already stopped waiting to do that turn, and the tram driver, familiar with the route, would know exactly how the traffic light sequences work and would decide that he could ignore the T light in full safety for his tram and passengers. Yarra trams is always keen to get bonus payments for running on time, and if this tram were a little late, they would be happy for him to risk getting caught.

Same as for a car or truck driver, maybe also problems with Yarra. Once when driving a W I went through a stupid T light at South Melbourne and a policeman stopped me. I told him that earlier it had not been working and luckily he believed me.
