Those moves are bordering the unfair. To me it was great driving from the cars in front to avoid incidents, those who avoided them. We also see it in F1 that his technique is awesome but his overtaking needs some work as they are extremely high risk. I think Alonso should coach him :P On a sidenote at that level of drivers nobody uses a single screen monitor and if they do it's over 50" curved. Most of them are either on triple's or VR. I just switched from single screen 24" inch to VR and the difference is immense, much more awareness and know exactly where the other car is which removes the guesswork when you're going side by side, many times I've let opportunities go by because I had no idea how much space I had next to me. Haven't been racing lately though and only had one race in VR which went brilliant

What's interesting with Max Verstappen is that his late overtake style is very similar to Danni Kyvat which we know historically how he lost his drive at RedBull thanks to Seb Vettel influence and Max inheriting the seat. Makes you wonder if Max Verstappen would have eventually got the seat at RedBull or he would he have to wait assuming that Danni the torpedo Kyvat would have still been driving for RedBull.

By being reliably aggressive, people (other drivers) will start to expect you'll be there. And as a result, they'll play it safe because you know you'll yeet it in there. That's kind of a genius way to create your racing-driver persona. And Max did that in his TR-days early on. Show the field you're there to race hard. It's about who has the biggest balls at that point. Are you going to go aggro yourself? Then you both crash out. Are you gonna give him room? Then he overtakes you. It's why huge talents like Albon didn't become a WDC in F1: they are too nice. That's why Max did become one: everybody knows he's going for it. And sometimes that means Max lands on top of your car while you frantically try to continue racing with another car on your halo.
@martimxavier96902 жыл бұрын
That's what Senna did. According to Martin Brundle, when Senna tried to overtake someone he would basically give them the option to "back out or crash" but would leave the decision to the other driver. That's what made him so hard to race. Ruthless and cutthroat racing

@@paulhope3401 Other drivers at his level seem to manage. I like Randy Pobst's description of racing as being like chess. You need to learn your opponent, and position yourself in a way that gives you an opportunity. Watch how your opponent defends, see where on the track you are stronger than they are, anticipate how they will cover you, and position yourself so that when they do so they expose themselves to your strengths. It's a game of tactics and psychology as much as it is raw pace. Max doesn't do that. He torpedoes up the inside and forces the other driver to back out or crash. It's not so much a chess move as a sucker punch.

@@t_z1030 You paint a nice picture but against drivers of a similar level you are very rarely going to be given these opportunities... especially on a track like that with short straights, close car equality and in a train.. going into the corner is literally going to be where the only real opportunities are. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely hate it being done to me.. but I accept that if it has been done cleanly and I haven't been punted off the track, then I just haven't defended well enough. I've always gone with Senna's famous saying.. 'When you no longer go for the gap, you are no longer a racing driver' I absolutely do agree that Max is the most aggressive driver in F1 and does it more than most but everyone does do it (in F1) to lesser degree and it is largely accepted and within the rules. Can you imagine the Stewards banning late braking as a means of attack? There would be no more real racing other than maybe a few DRS passes on the straights and the sport would simply wither away. No real surprises here... as part of my new toxicity reduction efforts, I'll stop there. ;) Interesting video. Would be interested to see other real world drivers reacted to.

Big fan here. I have a video fighting Max myself on my channel, iRacing as well, it was absolutely gorgeous and I would be completely happy ;) if you analyse it like you did there. The fight was on Interlagos. Daniel machado gap ahead Max Verstappen will bring you on the right spot
