Drivetrain error message on BMW M5/M6

I have the same issue "drivetrain" on my 2015 650i, and the car shakes. I scanned and it says missfire in cylinder 4, and injection switched off. Can you help and let me know from your experience what is the cause? Is it coils, spark plugs, fuel pump, fuel pump relay, injectors etc. Thanks.

Get it checked. This message only means that there is some problem on the car when you drive it in full throttle.

If your car is shaking after you start. Then it may not be spark plug. Please do a full diagnostics and see the codes first.

No error comes up? That's strange. If its misfire. Then it will be registered in ecu as a stored fault

I have the JB4, and I got the drivetrain malfunction do to running Map 7 with a E85 blend. Map 7, according to burger tuning must be ran on 100 octane race fuel. went back to Map 2 and everything is fine.

At map 7. Whats the max boost? Is it above 24 psi? If the drivetrain came and if the fault code says that its misfire? I really like to know what gap you are using for your plugs?

Interesting video. I have a 2015 X5 M, 32k miles. Last week I received that same message and the car started to shake, steering wheel, break pedal. When I stopped at the red light, I noticed it was idling at around 1200, it idle at about 650. I called my local BMW dealer as I bought there new, with an extended warranty. I drop it off in two days. They are giving my a loaner car and my service advisor said they would need the car 3 days. Does that sound right? By the way, I was going about 25, just changed lanes and had accelerated to around 55 when I got the message and felt the shaking.

Any faults on the ecu will trigger a drivetrain message on screen. Its always better to do a scan inorder to see the faults registered. If its p0300 or 301 till 308.. then its a misfire. And changing plugs solve the issue is most cases. But... at the same time.. there are multiple reasons for misfire.. starting from plugs. Coil. Injectors afr etc... let the dealer check and see what did they find.

I've got an M240i with the B58 engine. It's due it's first service in two weeks time and done 8k miles. The car has been perfect but I just took it out the driveway and I got the Drivetrain malfunction error and the car was misfiring causing vibration through the vehicle. I've called out BMW services as the car is under warentee thankfully, hopefully it's something simple with the fuel line, electrics or sensor.

@@4444nig4 they blamed a faulty injector replaced it and have the car back. Seemed fine until first time doing hard acceleration and it happened again. Turned out to be a faulty cam cover leaking coolant and that's what broke the injector. They had the car for six weeks i think trying to work it out.

I am getting codes on my 2013 640d 83k miles 244C00 charging pressure control charging pressure to low 27b900 exhaust back pressure sensor before turbine signal deviation to calculate exhaust pressure too low . Its only dose comes on when i put my foot down and dose got away it self

Seems like you have multiple problems. Check boost pressure. Check Wastegate actuator. Check exhaust valve if you have. Check compression on all cylinders. Then only I can say anything.

I just found an air leak, I bought some parts to get it fit and hopefully that will be it mate, but when the car was with BMW thy have reported that i might will have a problem later in the turbo.

It was a bad decision... its dct gearbox. You should have replaced the clutch. Leaking turbo is causing while smoke?

Thank you for the video, my bmw 528i xdrive shakes and the drivetrain malfunction comes on when I try to speed up a bit. When I shut off the engine the error goes away and then returns when I try to pick up speed quickly. The codes I get are 120308 and 138701. Can you please help me out on this?

What was the problem with valvatronic? Is the step motor or shaft problem? After replacing. Did you do the adaptation and calibration for the valvatronic? What fsult code made you replace the valvatronic system? Which year is your car.

@@TheUmeru hello bro. Have you checked the spark plugs? Ignition coils? Is the misfire only in cylinder no 1 every single time? Or is it random? I like see know how the plug looks like. Swap ignition coil. If you still have misfire on cylinder 1. Then do a compression test. This will give me further idea on what to check next.

Same thing been told to me by my machinic . I have changed my plugs and coils the problem solved for few days then again it happened. Then I went to machinic he said change turbo .. as it has a leaking ..but he said may be some other issue also in engine head ..so better sell it .. it will cost you more to fix all these issue ..no sure what to do . Car only give drive train when you srat the engine in morning.. and it shakes also ..After that it become fine..

Taymoure Naji Naji after it happens after you restart the car. If you restart like he says and everything is fine... you still need to go get the codes read. I believe mine are the O2 sensors and probably spark plugs. I still need to fix it, mine only happens when I drive really hard so haven’t fixed it yet, but I don’t believe it’s anything too serious

When error occures(every 10 days aprox.) car jerks in LOW rpm’s. And one more hint, i noticed it consumes coolant fluid. My mechanic at the latest, said it must be EGR COOLER fault. Because it shoots coolant into the engine by fault

On new m3 and m4.. i have found faulty intercooler. So what happens is.. the coolant is leaking from intercooler to engine. This will cause drivetrain and engine jerks in low rpm. But in higher rpm the car will run fine. Please check the compression on all cylinders. This will give you a start...

Seems like you have drivetrain error caused by some other reason. Not misfire. Scan your car. See the fault codes. And find out the reason for drivetrain. Solve that problem.

I think it might be wiring. I have same issues with my 2013 x3 it pops up everytime but i do not notice any loss of power. I just hit the acnowledge and it goes away.

Is it always 7 and 8? No other cylinders have any misfire? If its only 7 and 8 and always 7 and 8. Then you must check compression. If its ok. Then check fuel injectors.

@@LeamsiLolGamer I have the same issue (BMW 760i N74 engine) All 12 injectors, plugs, coils, changed, compression is around 11.5 bar on all cylinders. After full cold start when car drops to 650rpm and starts to shake and show Drivetrain malfunction issue, after 2 minutes running when restarted its gone (the message) but still car is shaking and rough starting on 1 gear and reverse. Normal driving, accelerating after that is perfect no shaking no power issues nothing at all, only when standing still and up to 10km/h. Please help someone.
