Great idea starting your saw with a drill. Never seen a 2 stoke engine with electric/20 volt starter. You and Meg are making memories allowing the girls to help and driving the skid steer. I always let my kids drive my truck and tractor when the were growing up. Their 30 and 32 years now old and tell their kids of driving in the hay field with Pappys truck. Great memories for them and me. Your doing a great job on the road construction.

Great job and nice to see a family working together. The chain idea is good but a slightly better one is using few tow straps or heavy rope that can tight around what your pulling. That way you dont loose to much of it.

Very nice achievement, you made it to the house site.

Bushwacking comes to mind. One should know Botany in these parts. The bugs are after the minerals in the wet soil,

From road to house, it would be interesting to know the distance/milage of the driveway. I'm sure it will give better perspective on the massive undertaking.

You could use the down trees and branches as a weaved fence along steep edge..

I killed the batteries for my little electric saw but it was great to just grab it and pull the trigger, I used it to thin out my forested area for silvopasture. I like using electric saw on steep ground since the chain stops when you let go of the trigger, less chance that you have an accident. Stay safe and road looks great.

They do come in handy, especially with a good, sharp chain.
@thedonkeypuncher23952 жыл бұрын
@@WalnutsandWineberries I bought a 10 pack of some cheap chains online that are decent, use them mostly for cutting near the ground or anywhere there might be a chance of hitting rock or metal. On my old homestead it's a task finding trees by the property line that don't have fencing grown through them.

Awesome job on the road. I think the electric start for the chain saw is a awesome idea, I would probably start it that way from here out.

Wow lot of hard work you trailblazers you. Not a fan of too much background music. Prefer background sounds, makes for a better user watcher experience - and less work for Editor!! Sound levelling is always difficult. Appreciate that you are highlighting some points with crescendos/epicness, etc - even humour. Otherwise it's not warranted or necessary. True I can always turn down the volume this end but there's a chance might miss a funny quip or comment. See the dilemma! Fantastic effort all round. Really enjoyed watching the girls get involved, learning, working and smiles of achievement and understand the soundtrack at these points. Just not convinced about half the others. I realise they are possibly editing techniques but from a user's viewpoint aren't necessary. Kind regards

Shame about the Elms, however you knew when you started there would be some sacrifices, and you have to cut your road through. There are pretty much NO Elms left in the UK due to Dutch Elm disease which wiped them out, must be around 40 Years ago now. My Dad had an Elm hedge which was fine till they got to around 20 feet or so then they all died :-( I love the way yo are happy to divert and make more work for yourself to protect a lot of the trees though.

According to Google “The protein in MUD contributes to one's daily protein needs as well as provides a great sense of fullness to prevent hunger when in a calorie deficit. “So sounds like the mud and kudzu make a good combination. Lol 😂

If the family tree is an Ash, and alive, that would be amazing! It's been so long since I have seen a living ash, that I'm not sure I would recognize it, even though I have a dead one standing next to our property line. GReat job on the road. I hope the scotch was good! Do you think the stump bucket would work pretty well on Ricky? Obviously not as well as on Rambo. Thoughts? I love my DeWAlt chainsaw. I've got batteries for it and a high speed charger. I changed the bar to an 18" with a new oregon chain and it cuts well! Just about to 10k subs-maybe another scotch!!

Not to throw cold water on your accomplishments with the road but around here you have to have a certain width and clearance on a driveway to a residence for Fire trucks and EMS response. You said you were working with the local authorities for a building permit. Please check on this so they don’t prevent you from getting an occupancy permit after all your hard work.

Music is WAAAAAY too loud. It's hard to even hear John in the beginning. As an experiment, please consider making one episode without absolutely any music whatsoever - not even in an intro and outro, none - just the balance between sounds of woods, human and animal steps through brush, kids playing, laughing in distance, perhaps some talking here and there, and please don't be skimpy with sounds of engines, machines moving soil. Perhaps not the full ASMR but something that would offer your viewers a deeper immersion to what you are experiencing, something that more truly presents what you hear. After all you chose to live in this place for what it has to offer, close contact with nature. You two don't seem to silence it all with music. I think your viewers would appreciate such deeper, natural, truer immersion to what you like and love. Please consider this suggestion. Thx
