Thanks for maintaining such good lane discipline and space between the driver ahead of you. I'm always glad when people don't tail gate. PS do this video at night when the core looks incredible from the Gardiner!

What I always did once upon a time whenever I (frequently) drove to TO for business was take Lakeshore Blvd for a good distance then turn left onto Yonge. It was probably a bit slower (depending on traffic), but getting to see the lake, the CNE, etc, was always nice. I really felt like I truly arrived once I emerged from under the Gardiner and saw the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Hey Johnny - really enjoyed your video. Currently residing in Nova Scotia but grew up in Etobicoke and spent nearly every Saturday shopping with the family at Sherway Gardens. That mall has taken a complete change since the days in the late 70's and early 80's. Back then they had grocery store Dominion and Loblaws - Simpson's was on one end and Eaton's on the other. The mall back then could be best described as a number 8 layout. I remember they had an arcade and in my highschool years we would head down after school or weekend to play a few games. My favourite place back then was McDonald's that was beside just regular stores - there was a food court though my memory has a Timmies - chinese takeout - my last time I went there was in 2016 and things had seriously changed even then. Within 30 years from now people of today won't recognize it either...lol

Can't tell you how much I enjoy watching this Video, what an excellent ideas to get a clear Day like this 🎉 When I lived in T.O the past 2 decades ago , with a career that allowed me to drive on this beautiful QEW on every weekday ! And the Gardener is always a goosebumps traffic jams if one wish to go North of Spadina.

Palace Pier and Palace Place are amazing condos. Huge. Waterfront views to die for and relax in total calm after a hectic work day. They are in a gated community. Need a pass to get in and out. Makes such a difference. Not a spec of litter or garbage. Beautifully manicured lawns and lovely flower beds.

Pretty typical urban crunch traffic. I used to commute from our home in Oshawa into a job at Ryder Transportation at their Kennedy Rd Scarborough branch. What should be a 15 minute drive often took 1.5-2 hours. That was done almost 18 years ago and I honestly don't miss the commute. I love driving. I love visiting Toronto. Absolutely no way do I enjoy combining the two activities. Great video, much enjoyed it. 🙂

When I was a kid, my mom's friend lived in Longbranch next to James Bell Jr. middle school. Every summer I'd stay with my mom's friend and her sons, and we'd go around skateboarding, playing video games and generally being a menace to society. When you passed the Evans Ave exit, it brought back some fond memories. We used to take the bus to Sherway Gardens sometimes and walk around because my mom's friend didn't have air conditioning. Also, Barbarians is amazing. I highly suggest to anyone who hasn't been, that they go.

Another great video Johnny. I used to take this exact route to work every day for almost 30 years. I can't believe the explosion of condos along the Gardiner from Exhibition Place to Jarvis that have cropped up since I last made the trip in 2017. I sure miss the city views on the drive in, but I sure don’t miss the traffic. Happy birthday and I hope you had a great steak at Barberian's.

Really Eglinton should have been upgraded to a freeway in the 70s. It could go from the 401/427 interchange to Kingston Rd picking up the DVP and Allen Expy. Kingston Road needs an upgrade from the old Greenwood Raceway to the 401.
@JohnnyStrides Жыл бұрын
That would have been utterly idiotic. Building highways induces more demand and destroys neighbourhoods. It solves nothing but creating more gridlock.
@rich7447 Жыл бұрын
@@JohnnyStrides Toronto does not have enough east to west freeway capacity and hasn't since the 80s. This was the original plan when the Allen was built. Demand already exists and you know that if you have been on the 401 in the last 40 years. Stop trying to push Euro BS.
@JohnnyStrides Жыл бұрын
@@rich7447 Induced demand... look it up. More highways solves nothing. We're finally starting to shift away from the god-awful era of the car anyway. Keep thinking backwards though ;)
@rich7447 Жыл бұрын
@@JohnnyStrides I know what induced demand is, I started my university life in commerce and economics. There is no induced demand in Toronto. The demand exists and is right in your face. Making life hell for people is not decreasing demand.
