That's what I was thinking. Why is the gearing on the steering so messed up? It would be much easier to drive if you didn't need to spin the yoke 360 degrees or whatever it is to reach full lock.

So that's just General Motors standard shitty design? And its just you really notice how bad the steering is when you have to use a stupid yoke instead of a steering wheel? Ha my bad.

It could also use some suspension and nuts & bolts changing tightening up freshening by the current owner but 90% of owners don't do that so you're gonna have squeaks. However Nk Knight, has a Kitt Replica, with no squeaks. Because it's a Well Done Replica. Which costs alot of money to do it right. Not just some shit thrown together on a budget.

Very good documentary. I never knew the actual KITT from Knight Rider would be so difficult to drive in everyday circumstances. Still a very cool car! In fact I'm starting my collection of Firebirds and Trans-Ams. @TheTarrMan 8 жыл бұрын
The trailer? Backing is like learning to ride a bike. (Hard to learn, easy to do.) For the test the school will teach you reference points to look for before making adjustments to the steering wheel. In the real world I just put my seat all the way up and stick my head out the window. (We're not allowed to do that on the test.)

TheTarrMan TBH, my only experience in "driving" trucks is virtual, as in Euro Truck Simulator XD. I have the Logitech wheel that include the 6-speed and the clutch and the game lets you program a button for low and high range toggle for the 12+ speed transmissions. I never understood how to turn while reversing to get the trailer in straight, so I would just drive forward till it was straight, then reverse while keeping the steering wheel straight so the trailer wouldn't turn and make a V clusterfuck that I couldn't get out of lol.
@TheTarrMan
@TheTarrMan 8 жыл бұрын
I've never played a trucking simulator game but it can be challenging in the real world too. The trick to doing a straight line back is to look for your trailer tandems (trailer tires) in your hood-mounted convex mirror. You shouldn't be able to see them. (This might be hard in a video game because of the resolution of the game) Let's say you start to see them in your left mirror, then I would turn the wheel about one quarter turn to the left until I can't see them any more and then straighten out the wheel. Also, generally I only back at about 3mph.

No rev counter, screens don't work, buttons don't do anything, items like the key pad are missing.. This must be the worst KITT replica I've ever seen to be honest.. Come back when you finish it.

I still wanna get one :-) ..but mine would have some modifications. For example indicator lights would be on simple buttons that are on the steering wheel and then have a laser that points to the steering wheel, so when you turn back, it detects it and switches the indicator off. Also i'd make most of the stuff on voice commands, hook it all up to a good gaming laptop and hide it inside the dash, where the 2 monitors are, i'd have 1 bigger monitor + keyboard that slides out. That would control the voice commands. Nitros is also a good idea, which would obviously be the pursuit mode. He said he has cameras but non working, so that's surely something i've had in mind too. Even tho it's so old series, i still want one :)

Are there any of these cars out there that have a significantly reduced steering ratio so the control flopper wouldn't be such a monumental liability in maneuverability?

Gotta love old 80's styled 8 and 9 pin digit lights... Used to love the show. I'd love to have to bulid one of these for somebody. I could write all the programs, and build the circuits from Radio Shack parts. I've been building a prototype computer for my 1992 Honda Accord LX 2-door 2.2 L 5-speed. Trying to max it out and make it super efficient. Got it up to 38 mpg already. Better than a Chevy Equinox...

Is that street legal? Where is the inspection sticker? Lol. Are you allowed to drive with the scanner on day or night? I would guess not being it would be a distraction, but then again the whole car is a detraction lol. I don't why not though as it is not much different than headlights.

It would be pretty cool if a car could have a KITT AI installed similar to Siri or Cortana only more advanced & using the same KITT voice. Its actually possible now. Knight Rider was & still is awesome.
