Key thing to remember, slow down in slick conditions, give yourself more time and remember to always watch out for the other drivers out there. People can't drive on dry pavement, let alone ice and snow.

Great job of handling the truck and compensating correctly and staying calm. THIS is precisely why every truck in America should have a CB.

I absolutely HATE driving in that kind of weather! I run back and forth between Manitowoc and WInona four days a week. In that January snowstorm, I made it to Plymouth and turned around, I pull a pneumatic tank and I was empty. I can feel the wind, but it doesn't push me around like it did when I was pulling a 53' sail! It's not ME that I'm worried about - it might take me longer, but I'll get there - it's all the OTHER drivers that scare me!
@danfenske10678 ай бұрын
You did a great job driving in the snow and wish more drivers were driving slower and using the CB to alert others behind you of what is happening ahead of them. You're being that good example of what a good driver can be. Keep it up !

The times I love being in a plow truck, scraping off the snow with the plow and putting out material to drive on. I hauled wood for a couple years and in snow storms and I couldn't keep up with the crazy frogs doing 70mph with 20 cord of wood on.

I used to judge how bad it was by how much asphalt I could see. You can see The asphalt so it's not so bad. It's bad and scary when all you can do is stay in tracks of the vehicles in front of you and there is no asphalt showing. That's when you start sucking that seat Up for butt.

Ha...I remember in the mid 1970's when I started driving large trucks and the trucking company that I started driving for had mostly GMC 9500's and a lot of single axle Astro's. We called the Astro's, California tractors because they were higher than they were long, and I drove them through lots of snow and ice here in Ontario & Quebec. I remember shortly after starting, I asked a older driver how fast should I drive in the bad weather and I remember him telling me "pick a speed your comfortable at and drive that speed." I took his advice and in my near 40 years driving career I never went off the road and I'll tell you it wasn't all skill, a lot of it was just sh!t luck.

There is one essential element to driving any vehicle well. You have to be one with your truck. You better be able to sense what is going on in your truck like you sense your hands or feet. IMO. that separates the real drivers from the wannabes. Funny how it is so seldom mentioned in driving literature.

I never felt it necessary to dump bags for hookup unless trailer was leaning to the side. Dropping a trailer with less air pressure is smoother but again, not necessary. bumping trl tires after hookup isnt a bad idea.

I mean 32 degrees F is not that cold, and that was not a snowstorm. Its just snowing. Come to my parts of northern Québec, Canada if you ever want to see a real snowstorm... That being said, for an American you handled snowy roads pretty good. Most Americans I know crash when there's snowy roads, especially those form the southern parts of America.
