Nice video! The kind of “overland” videos I enjoy the most. Simple, relaxing, amazing views, appropriate music. Thanks for sharing!

Northwest Washington State was my home for over 40 years and the minute your video started I knew this was the North Cascades, even tho I've never heard of Hart's Pass or Slate Peak. The geology/geography of the North Cascades is just so iconic, so unique in so many ways, it's hard to miss if you've experienced it for any length of time. I used to drive competitive amateur sports car rallys all over the Pacific Northwest, and once competed in a night rally that ran from the base of Mt Baker south across the western slopes of the Cascades to the upper reaches of the Skagit Valley, rally was called "Night on Bald Mountain". We had snow at higher elevations (it was February), used single lane forest service roads...was a fun, sometimes scary, and exciting rally. I was driving a Honda CRX, great car, but not an off-road vehicle.

Beautiful photography! Love the dam shot at 6:50. WA is such a beautiful state. Funny, I just installed a gmrs with the exact antenna. Would love to do the roof rack you have but have a custom made frame and it won’t bolt on. Trying to find a work around. Microwave corn on the cob? Interesting. Glad you’re back on the trail!

Nice, I love Midland products. And yes there were some interesting items in that store hahaha.

I really love the vibe in this video. You got some beautiful shots too! The top of Slate Peak is one of, if not the best, views in WA that can be driven to IMO.

Thanks Jeff! And I agree, it was awesome to finally go there. Next summer I’d like to do it again on my dual sport bike. Funny you should comment, I had just watched your Mt. Baker video (and had planned to visit the dam a couple weeks before even seeing your video on it.) 😆

@rustyintheoutdoors agree! That road would be a great time on a dual sport / adv. That's the kind of road my 1200GS is happy on (i.e not very technical haha)

So far October around here has been pretty nice. Few rainy days but nothing like we will see here soon. Yeah we sure don't have that long buffer zone for fall (sun, less to no rain) before it just starts raining all the time.

I had hoped to get up there this year but it's looking like next year will allow for a bit more free time to perhaps camp and really enjoy the area.

Darland Mountain is at 6981 feet, located west of Yakima, it is higher than than harts peek. FYI
@rustyintheoutdoorsАй бұрын
Interesting, is there a drivable road that goes up Darland Mountain? I have not heard of that, will check it out. Hart’s Pass to Slate Peak Lookout is 7450ft.

Hey man, I was wondering what’s you lift and tire set up? I love your Jeep very clean and simplistic looking. I also have a Tj and I’m trying to get it looking somewhat like yours. Simple but versatile.

How was the drive up? I saw some rugged roads but perhaps they were just random other roads in the area? Asking because I have a normal family sedan, wondering if it can make it up…
@rustyintheoutdoorsАй бұрын
You can make it up easily in a sedan, just be mindful as there are some sections with small jagged rocks that might puncture a street tire. I definitely wouldn’t do it in the snow in a sedan though.
