I go up there quite a bit. Great access, camping, and a nice spring. The views are exceptional.

Thanks so much my friend. Yes great place to access the AT in either direction. And the views are some of the best anywhere no doubt about it.

Hello there! We've been up there many times and only one time it was like that, it was so foggy when you got up there were it opens up you couldn't see over 50 feet in front of you so there was no view at all all, we didn't even go all the way up we just turned around and went back to our camp. Good to see you again, thanks for sharing and take care my friend.

Thanks for watching my friend! Yes it was extremely foggy this time. I’ve been socked in a few times up there. The view is epic on a clear day. I dont usually go all the way to the summit either, but it was so foggy that day that the radio towers were the only thing I’d get to see haha!

maybe not a big view but it was a neat foggy mist up there. looks like a fun road to take slowly. nice to be out in the woods with you thanks for taking us along

Yes this is one of my favorite places. The views up there are epic. But sometimes its fogged in like this trip but it was still fun. I always like the mystical feel to the woods when it rains. Thanks so much for stopping by my friend!

I love going visiting Pond Mountain not to far from this location. It’s a 360 degree view. It’s a favorite. Drivable.

Yes I’m very familiar with Pond Mountain. It has many great spots with vistas.

Hey, we went up there in July, too. 😊 On the Goldwing. Road was not as maintained as in prior visits, but do-able.
@SmellNRoses Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for checking out my video. I agree the road was much rougher this past July than it normally is, but it can still be navigated by just a out any car. Somebody drove a Firebird up there the same evening I was there lol. If you saw the downed tree limb and new bypass around it, that was the only real challenge to anyone with low ground clearance.

One of my favorite places. The weather is unpredictable. I’ve seen just about everything up there.

Yes same here. One of my favorites as well. Definitely have to be prepared for anything up there, but its truly epic when conditions are just right. Thanks so much for stopping by.

I live in central NC. Years ago, we went north and then crossed VA to Front Royal. After doing the cave tour, we headed south on the Skyline Drive. I'd always wanted to see the Shenandoah Valley. Long story short, I've been through it, but never seen it. The fog was so thick we could barely see the line in the center of the road. Thank you for bringing back good memories from times past. While we didn't see the Shenandoah, we always enjoyed our trips to the mountains from VA to GA. As I'm sure you do, when exploring Gods Great Outdoors. Looking forward to that view when you climb that mountain in clear weather.

Thanks so much for watching, my friend! I almost didn’t share this one since it doesn’t really show much scenery or anything but I decided to go ahead and release it since I hoped to make a point that there is still beauty and worth in all conditions. And I still had a good time on the mountain even without the views. I have the advantage of having been up there numerous times. Perhaps if someone only had one chance they’d be disappointed. Kind of like how you missed all the scenery in Shenandoah up in northern VA, but still you can say you were there.

@@SmellNRoses Well said! We still enjoyed the trip even though we missed one of the main attractions of that particular journey. Sitting around a campfire after a beautiful sunset. Watching and hearing the world wakeup at sunrise. Nothing like cooking breakfast on the side of a mountain. and so much more ....

@@SmellNRoses YES! I did enjoy seeing it. Makes it easy to understand why you came back. Thank you for the link. Appreciated!

We normally camp on white top mountain yearly. Was wondering if you have any recommendations for dispersed camping that are a little closer to Charlottesville Va or anywhere between the 2? We would be going in October hoping to see some nice views from camp.

A misty /rainy drive... Now go wash your truck... LOL

I bought this truck to get it dirty haha. I’d just be wasting my time at the carwash. Thanks for watching, my friend!

Beautiful drive, despite the fog and rain. It is a shame so many ugly communication towers have taken over the summit.
@SmellNRoses Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes I agree about the towers but they dont obstruct any views on a good day.

I made it to the highest point in Mississippi at a whopping 806ft above sea level. Woodall Mountain. The views weren't all that great due to overgrown bushes and trees. But it was fun getting there! I've seen a "popular" KZbinr do an exploration or campout on Whitetop here a few years ago.
@SmellNRoses Жыл бұрын
That sounds pretty neat. I’ve knocked out numerous state high points and would love to do them all, or at least the ones that dont require any ropes lol. Whitetop is our second highest peak. Our highest can be reached on foot via the Appalachian Trail. Whitetop is about 200 feet lower than Mount Rogers. There are some good campsites on Whitetop. Have considered camping there myself sometime.
