A very simple concept that allows you to listen first instead of being ready to speak.

I am a student in an online environment. Watching this video was part of an assignment and I'm really glad it was. I have going through transitions in my life where I was not open to feedback from anyone about anything, then where feedback was all I was craving. I guess I'm still in that mode because I continuously look for it. Not in a sense that I'm insecure in the things I do, but I haven't been the first person at anything yet, so there has always been people to do it better. Thank you for the advice, because I would be lying if I said I was always open to feedback.

I thought this was a more polite alternative to my simple "thanks for the feedback" that I have been utilizing. Usually, I need time to process said feedback, or I'll ask for measurable instances to validate, so I am able to figure out how to best improve. However, "tell me more" allows is more polite and welcoming. I truly enjoyed this bit. Thank you!

A friend told me this formula a while ago. Now I know where he got it. This is a great way to stop criticism in its tracks.

Thank you for the feedback on being more open to feedback by including "Tell me more". I love that part because it makes people feel confident about sharing things to help others improve as well as creates more critical thinking regarding constructive feedback. The best part is that none of it is negative! It helps everyone to keep on being helpful and positive, this is a supportive environment to be in!

I'm going to utilize this technique today. I have a feedback meeting with my upper leadership, in regards to a interview I attended for a position I wasn't selected for and I didn't want my response to be "but". So thank you for this and I will tell other's about this link.

I agree with you when receiving feedback for we may like and want it, but when it is negative, we likely defend what did not go as they should. However, Thank you for that tip of receiving it and embracing it with "Thank you, Tell me". I believe this is a mindset we should have.

Thank you. Your lesson is reflective of the heavenly Father's Word which frequently stresses the importance of actually loving and welcoming correction. This truth is especially found throughout Proverbs.

One additional angle: giving feedback (especially when it's negative/something needs improvement) can be difficult for many people, so they are going out on a limb to give it to you. So if you react defensively, that hampers both sides. Of course, this is different than required feedback/evaluations from supervisors etc., but still, they may not relish "being mean". So, being open and forthright about what can be changed is good for everyone.

This is a really good video to learn from ! Thank you for sharing it! I will apply this knowledge from now on every time I receive a feedback! (I use to put myself in a defensive way, bu now I know that I don’t have to, instead! I should be more open...) Again thank you very much for this...bless

I feel like this is missing the key parts. Feedback goes in to a few categories, let's say good, I can work on this, simply untrue and then a perception. Surely perceptions, if they are wrong, need addressing. Clear inaccuracies need correcting. I think this is where we need advice. On a cohort of 15 I came top 3 in my first 3 exams. I got feedback from the course lead to say I was struggling academically. I did the, tell me more... But surely the meaningful part was where I pointed out I came top 3 in the last 3 exams and the course lead backtracked. I don't know where he got that point of view from but it was simply wrong. If I left him with that point of view that could be spread, Muz is a guy who struggles academically and in a work environment perception is at times more important than reality. I think I'd like some advice on how we, as a team (feedback receiver and giver) work together to seperate fact from fiction and rectify both with information and action.

Thank you for a well presented and well structured presentation. I am currently reeling from some angrily delivered feedback I received from an old friend. It’s been a week, and still reeling from the angry and generalizing manner in which the feedback was given. So what I find entirely missing in your presentation is the emotional component of receiving feedback. Receiving feedback is not simply a cognitive event: it is a relational event. You obviously have the intelligence to deal strongly with this factor. It would be helpful if you did. And that’s MY feedback for you! :-)

Great tips, but wouldn't the person assume you are being hostile, even if your mindset is really being grateful? I mean, if I ask, ¨tell me more¨, or ¨give me some specs¨, they may assume I'm challenging them, and I may even make obvious some errors in their feedback lol, idk just a thought
