I really love when women embrace growing older. For some reason there has been a stigma associated with women aging when actually it is such a beautiful experience. Thank you for helping us to better understand ourselves and the changes that go on in our bodies.

Hi, I just completed my first official 72 hour fast! My body has been a complete mess with hot flashes etc etc because of intense prolonged stress and anxiety! Doesn’t help it’s an intensely hot summer too with no air conditioning in our home! Sleeping isn’t a luxury I have sadly. I am committed to my mind body and sole to learn my body’s needs. I am an avid faster and strangely enjoy it. However I am learning it is a science and I pray I get the results to ‘find myself’ again and feel great. Will keep you posted to any success! I just purchased your books Mindy! So grateful to you for your commitment to woman’s health and for sharing the secrets to feeling our very best. Bless you ox

Love your book! Im 41 and I haven’t felt like myself for months. My docs couldn’t give me any answers just more prescriptions! I came across your interview on the Dhru’s podcast. I started fasting three weeks ago (16/8) and felt a huge difference after day 4! Luckily , a week before my cycle I listened to your book. I’m on day 5 of my cycle, which means 24hr fast on day 6! I started this journey bc of gut issues, constipation, foggy brain, anxiety, insomnia, and intense PMS which i never experienced prior to turning 40. So glad I found you. I was beginning to question everything.

Hello Dr. Mindy. I love to listen to you. I'm trying to weight and I discovered your videos and I decided to listen. I'm learning a lot about the different types of hormones (if I'm correct of saying that). But I have a question (among several); Is it bad for a woman to start going into menopause in her sixties? I'm 63 and I was still having a regular period at 61. I was told at 59 or 60 that I might need surgery because I might get cancer because of still having my period. I didn't believe this. I've been told a lot of things (concerning my health) that were all false over the years. I'm thankful I didn't have unnecessary procedures done. I still wonder though about this. Could you help me to understand this?

I birthed 7 kiddos naturally and had a hysterectomy at 46 a year later I was told I had low estrogen and put me in pre menopause. (I have my ovaries still) Im on an estrogen patch and have noticed some relief however instantly I gained 10lbs. I started IF in hopes to lose the extra weight but unsure what time frame I should be on. I’m ordering your book for answers lol. Currently I do 16:8, 18:6, 20:6 I change it up based on my day. Thank you for being here for all of us.

It’s been 7 months since I commented. I just had a period last week after 5 months of nothing. Exercise and diet are really helping me not having any symptoms. I think I’m on the right track with fasting. Your videos are really helping. I love fasting and it’s really helping with weight management. I am on day 10 in my cycle so I will be doing a 36hr fast this week starting after dinner tonight. Wish me luck. Probably will not get another period for a few more months since I’m at the start of perimenopause. I will be starting to do more of an intermittent style from now on with a few more prolonged fasts each week. It’s great. Thank you. Fasting variety is the spice of life

Hi, so glad I found this channel! I am 52, still with regular periods every 29-32 days and I also deal with Hashimoto’s. It so happens that I plunged into IF on the week of progesterone 😅 and I decided to do 16:8. First day, I did amazing and the next 2, I have been extremely hungry by the time I hit 12-14th hour not wanting necessarily keto although I already eat very healthy- now I fully understand why! Thank you for the explanation and for addressing this topic. The stigma of being hormonal is not fair and many women (not just men) need to understand that hormonal fluctuations are a real influence in patterns of our moods, strength, mental heal etc. and we need to stop vilifying it. I love this!

Thanks again for your valuable information Dr. Mindy. I'm 54 and perimenopsausal. I had my 2nd daughter almost 19 years after my first when I was 45 (alllllll naturally). I'm having trouble with my weight so to try to balance out my hormones and insulin, I feel it's best for me to detox by fasting but I'm no scientist. I just go by what you and Dr. Jason Fung and some other well-respected scientists on here are saying. My own GP is absolutely clueless and admitted that he knows nothing about ANY of this ! I know though that regular doctors don't even learn anything about nutrition - which is VERY shocking when you know that it's the very foundation of human health - that and the mind. I am looking through your videos trying to see if it's beneficial for me to do a water fast for a full 7 days as even on my 3rd day in, I've only "lost" 1kg and it's more than likely just water so I think it's safe to say that my perimenopausal hormones are getting in the way of my weight loss. Inn order to get "unstuck" therefore I wonder if anyone can give me a good idea as to how many days I should continue with the water fasting ? I add a pinch of sea salt and a tablespoon of ACV in the mornings to avoid headaches but I do have a cup or 2 or black coffee for "variety". lol Many thanks for any advice anyone out there might be able to give me ! Warm regards from Belgium.

Hi there, have you read Dr. Mindy's book, Fast Like A Girl? You can do the 30 Day Reset as outlined in Dr Mindy's book, Fast like a Girl. You can either start on your first full bleed day or if you don't know when your cycle begins, use the 'New Moon' as your Day 1 (use search engine to find the day of new moon). Follow the 30-day protocol and when you get to the 30th day, the next day start back at day 1. This may help regulate it. Do this for 3-4 months in a row. Thank you Dr Mindy, this video was HUGELY helpful for me as I have been struggling with perimenopause in a big way since my mid 40s. I am 51 years old and the symptoms have been really getting me down; hot flushes, brain fog, periods every 3 to 4 months or so, poor sleep, exhaustion, can't think, tearful ... I have found that fasting really helps with these symptoms, especially with sleep, which I have been struggling with for years. This past week I did OMAD and this week I am pushing myself into a 36 hour fast. Thank you for such easy to understand information.

This was the video for me! Thank you so much Dr. M ❤ I hit 40 and everything changed for me. I lost my cycle completely. I never spotted or slowed down. It was like a switch and it just stopped completely! It’s been 6 months and I haven’t had a period. I wonder if it’s not fasting that’s caused this. I can’t tell because I started fasting OMAD at the same time I lost my period, so I don’t know if it’s peri menopause or because I started fasting. Regardless, I love fasting and I can’t imagine stopping now. I also am done having children so I’m not worried about getting pregnant. It’s nice to not have to deal with a period for sure! My periods were always really bad, so there’s that. I just need to order your book because I am seriously confused on how much I need to fast. Everytime I try to fast according to a woman’s schedule I get nauseated and my stomach blows up. It’s only when I fast OMAD that I feel the best. It’s hard to juggle for sure.

I just discovered your channel. This made me even more confused. I'm 55 and have been on BHRT for a year now. I spot on and off NO pattern at all! Blood in my urine and sometimes only on the toilet paper. Twice within the last year I've had a full blown period. Right now, I'm bleeding and about 4 months ago. I'm exhausted and depressed. How in the world can I determine where I'm at and what to eat, how to work out etc etc etc during any given time? It would be a full time job to keep up this way and constantly having to change and would make me even more exhausted, anxious and depressed than what I already am.

Navigating hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) and its effects can indeed be complex and sometimes confusing. Given your symptoms and the irregular spotting, it's crucial to consult with your healthcare provider or a specialist in BHRT to review your therapy and adjust it as necessary. They can offer personalized advice on diet, exercise, and managing symptoms based on your specific health needs and hormonal balance, aiming to improve your quality of life without overwhelming you.

I have so many more progesterone symptoms than just famished. I'm emotional (irritable, weepy, impatient and "randy" haha), cravings for non keto foods, what seems like random exhaustion for 3 days, itchy and tender skin, clumsy, even without ever getting a period. I'm on day 81. Since I haven't spotted during this progesterone week I most likely won't be getting my period next week.

I stumbled onto you when a KZbin video autoplayed after a workout I was doing. Tom Bilyeu on Impact Theory was interviewing you. I've subscribed to your channel and been watching some of your content. I just received your book "Fast Like A Girl" today. Excited to dive into it. I'll be 50 this year and I've been experiencing spotting more than a period since the beginning of the year - maybe the end of last year actually. I didn't have a cycle for just over 2 month. May 2, 2023 was the last time I spotted - didn't actually have a real period but it seems to last forever. I haven't been sleeping well for quite some time so I think I'm in the progesterone phase of my cycle. I was wanting to do a 3 day water fast but I don't think it would be a good idea to start knowing that progesterone phase doesn't like fasting. How long should I wait before moving into the next cycle if I don't start my period?

I've been binge watching your videos and checking daily on the across-the-board backordered status of the book. After years of problems that you would find hard to believe, I'm finally on the path back to wellness. You've helped me so much, so thank you! The one question I do have that I haven't been able to find in your videos is... I recently started the carnivore diet and don't understand how it can work with your advice on the different phases of my cycle. You have videos on the carnivore diet and seem to be a fan of it, but you say in your perimenopause videos that progesterone needs glucose. From what I understand, when you're on the carnivore diet, go off of it and then back on, it causes a lot of problems. You also say that we need to focus on the microbiome when we need testosterone. I don't want to bounce back and forth from carnivore to a diet filled with glucose and fiber because the carnivore diet seems to need consistency to be successful. SO... a women in perimenopause, awful symptoms, trying to balance hormones and fix my cycle, trying the carnivore diet to help autoimmune and gut issues... can it all work together somehow?

My frustration comes from never having a regular period. From my first period at age 15, I’ve had wildly heavy periods that could last 3 weeks. By age 19, I never had a break from the bleeding which led to being put on birth control. This controlled the bleeding usually but with occasional breakthrough but then it would come back with a vengeance during the week off the pill. By my 30s I was out on the Nuvoring with no breaks. By 42 I had a hysterectomy (I was able I keep one ovary). I have no idea when my cycle is. The explanation of the phases and how they feel was really helpful.

Thank you so much, this is great!! 🙏🏽💗 What if you don't have a 28 day cycle, what if it's more like 23 or 24 days? What do you count as days 11-15, 16-19, etc. My app tracking tells me I'm supposedly ovulating on day 10 of my cycle and my fertile window would be on days 6-11 of my cycle. Do I treat those days as what you call days 11-15? Or do I follow your 28 day cycle suggestions in hopes of getting closer to a 28 day cycle (which I would very much like...I'm in perimenopause and they feel like they're coming so frequently)?

same boat, typically 24 day cycle and Mindy recommended ordering a dutch test, maybe down the road after I at least attempt some healing through Mindy’s protocol for six months. I know I am ovulating on day 7-8 of my cycle so I am confused on the next phases, I’m thinking I need to ignore the second power phase because there is no way to know when that is other than a burst of energy for a couple days and just take advantage of that energy and try to keep insulin low and then just focus on nurture phase until cycle starts again. ??
@denisea.9033

I still hope she or her team answers this cause I can't always read the signs to know if/when I'm ovulating (might get an ovulation kit to see, I can't get the Dutch test while living in Japan). I will say this though, since I wrote my initial message almost a month ago, I tried to follow her protocol as best I could with at least no fasting and taking it as easy as possible that week before my period, and this past month I had a 26 day cycle for the first time in a long time! Also, this time my period was shorter, lighter and my cramps were much milder. I only had about half of one uncomfortable day, but not terrible. I usually have 3 pretty bad days. Frankly I was shocked because we were on vacation and I was already expecting it to be as bad as the other recent months, so when it was suddenly practically gone on day 3, usually one of my two worst days, I couldn't believe it. I have a glimmer of hope now.

@@denisea.9033 that’s awesome, something is working for sure. We are AF and moving from germany to colorado soon, so maybe once i’m settled with new address I can order tests. I’m definitely the opposite with hormones, a few days before my cycle I will crash, then have a burst of energy right before it starts and then be totally fine once it starts. But for ovulation, I totally crash hard with no energy and body aches, I feel the ovulation cramps and the secretions so I definitely know when it’s happening. I remember dr. berg talking about being estrogen dominant and I am an apple shape so the more I hear Mindy talking about liver health and releasing the extra estrogen, I think that is going to be my focus along with the first and last phases of her cycle and fasting protocol. Fingers crossed.

I pre-ordered your book! I just turned 50 and my periods have become extremely irregular, sometimes it’s two months sometimes three months. Whenever I start fasting, I’ll start my period! My question is… when fasting is what brings on your menstrual cycle, should you use the hormonal cycle you have just laid out here? Meaning, if I start fasting, and then get my period, should I continue long fast because of estrogen? I really hurt myself last week by doing a long fast with a hard work out. This long fast with a tough work out with some thing that I had listened to as a recommendation in one of your podcasts. It took me two days to recover my energy level… and then sure enough I started my period. I’m pretty sure this has something to do with hormones, and it was a little scary.

Hi Mindy. Thanks for this. It seems a bit confusing to me - you said we are producing more estrogen from day 1- 10 and long fasts are good at this time, because estrogen weathers this. But then later you say that when you notice you need more estrogen, you fast and do keto more. This 2 points seem contradictory to me? Thank you for your insights 🙏🏽

Hi. I'm 46 years old. Thank you for this video. I came across to fasting through Dr. Jason Fung. I've been fasting in the past few years. At the beginning it was great, my excess weight disappeared and I felt amazing. Then 3 years ago I went back to college. I regained the weight and by the time I finished the 2 years course I crashed. I had no motivation to do things, lost my sex drive and felt literally suicidal. Went to my doctor and she prescribed me HRT patch. In the meantime I got a coil inserted and my periods have completely disappeared. I've done lots of OMAD, 20, 46, 48, 72 and 168 hours fasting. Still the weight is sticking. I'm 5 foot 2 and 185 pounds. 😢😢😢 I'm interested in the cycle you described. I just ordered your book. But it causes me anxiety that because I have no bleeding at all, how will I know that when is my first day...to know when it is okay to fast and when is it okay to give myself a TLC. Would love to hear from you, although I understand that you uploaded this video 8 months ago...but I just found you (so glad I did. You gave me lots if clarity. Yes, we understand. But the goal is to be metabolically flexible. When we are hormone-building many times we gain weight until the progesterone or estrogen is built up to help our bodies function well. When we are hormone-building we are out of the Fat Burning system. When we go back into the Fat Burning system we can lose weight. Going in and out of the two systems helps us lose weight. It's called being metabolically flexible. 🙂
