East Bengal is the only Indian club two win two international trophies. If win percentage is considered then East Bengal has the highest percentage of wins in National leagues. East Bengal has the highest no. of aiff or ifa accredited trophies for any club. So yeah it's true the last decade wasn't their best but undisputedly they are the most successful club of India.

Brother, I want to tell you that I'm the 4th generation diehard fan of East Bengal in my family. Because you are talking about derby I thought I should tell you how our club logo was found. It was in the year 1930, because of Gandhiji's satyagraha all the Indian clubs boycotted Calcutta Football League and amidst confusion the Britishers announced a British regiment team as the premier division winner but East Bengal, then playing at the first division league and leading the table wasn't promoted to the premier division. So, EB fans gathered in the last league match with Torches as a form of protest, from then it became our symbol of existance.

I remember the 2015 Calcutta Football League Derby. It was my first Derby as a audience. I was in 7th standard and brimming with excitement of the 'Boro Match'. Do Dong from East Bengal was in killer form. Mehtab Hussain, Avinash Ruidas, Samad Ali Malik, Arnab, Rafique, Rahul Bheke... all were breathing fire literary! I remember Lal Kamal Bhowmik from Mohun Bagan, slapped the referee as he booked him with yellow card. Dong scored the first two goals for East Bengal, absolute cracker from set pieces. Then on Rafique and Rahul Bheke scored another two goals simultaneously. East Bengal won the match by 4-0. At the end the colour of Salt Lake Stadium was red and yellow, 'Mashal's were lit, East Bengal was carrying Dong on shoulders and lapping the ground. East Bengal won that CFL 2015 by winning all the matches. Nostalgia comes to my mind whenever I remember the day. ❤💛
