$50 RC SAILPLANE - AK A800 - Honest Review, Flights, Range Test, & FPV Flights

I bought this plane and got my monies worth for sure & the Gyro stabiliser is the best - I am paraglider pilot so was able to easily find thermal and soar - Crashed it a bunch - fixed it a bunch - but sometimes loses control as transmitter is limited and eventually I crashed it into the sea and it was game over - recommend this to beginners as is great entry plane and also lots of fun for goofing off on trips

The one thing that keeps me coming back to gliders is a little friendly competition. 2 or more glider pilots can pair off and alternate between being the timer then switching off to fly your turn. The timer takes both yours and his stop watch (left hand to time the engine run time and the right to time the full flight time). The object with a glider is to compete for closest to landing at a predetermined time of say either a 3,5,or 8 minute targets on a stopwatch. The winning score is either, 300, 500, or 800 points for hitting the precise landing times minus a point per second either over or under the perfect 3,5,8 minute target. The real fun is that the left hand of the timer guy is recording your engine run times. For every second of engine run over 30 seconds one point is deducted from your landing score. In other words the guy who can spot and climb in thermals has the advantage which is what these gliders specialize in. Good hand held stopwatches are going for around 4 to 5 dollars on the net.

Excellent review of a really nice affordable beginner introduction to RC. I have the XK A1200, which is an excellent motor glider & like this smaller version, is really suitable for beginners. It also has the added bonus of brushless performance and the Futuba based transmitter. So just to clarify something you said the video, regarding the stabilisation modes on these XK models. 6G is actually fully stabilised, with pitch roll & yaw limited & 3G is partially stabilised, but will allow you to fly somewhat aerobatically, Loops and rolls etc. Only mention it as I wouldn't like young flyers to crash their aircraft by mistakenly using the wrong mode

It's crazy how much fun a plane can be. I can't wait to get back to flying. Don't have the money for a new rig right now lost everything in a fire recovering has been pretty difficult fpv is an escape regardless of what you fly. Once back on my feet after buying at least a cheap quad even if it's a rtf I'll definitely be trying to join the patron. Keep the reviews coming bro you give more to people than you know. XK really knows how to make great stuff. Love everything I have ever bought from them, a couple of Helis and three quads. Nice review as usual! BTW, the XK X100 and X350 were both capable of inverted flight, as well as their heli's too. But you're right it is a major mind blower when you shift to inverted flight. The K110 Heli is a good one to learn on.

Another good video on the XK A800. And a nice cheap little $60 plane, that delivers a lot of value. Just one thing Justin. Pretty sure the 6G mode is bank limited with stabilizer. The 3D mode has no bank limits, but is stabilized for wind turbulence. So it is 3D mode you want for Acro 3D flight. Another thing that is understated with XK models is that they use nano sized progressive servos. So much better than linear servos used in most other brands of micro planes.

I hate when people pigeon hole people in this hobby. Some do it to themselves by sticking to one type of platform. There is so much out there to like, so I don't see the reasoning for being an "electric guy", a "quad guy", or a "gasoline guy", or a "airplane guy", etc. My garage is full of all kinds of rc platforms from electric and gas airplanes, to rc crawler trucks and backyard bashers. It's all fun to me. Airplanes are my favorite rc platform. Flying them FPV is really fun and relaxing. I got into FPV tiny whoops a couple years ago with cheap Eachine goggles and an aio FPV camera glued to a brushed Furibee F36. I also put a camera on my old Eflite Apprentice. Now, I'm flying brushless tiny whoops and looking at bigger quads. I also ordered a set of Aomway Commanders (V1). I'm always looking for my next FPV platform.

I started with Cox planes, on a string, lol get dizzy flying those. I been at a long time, helos, now quads, not to mention the watercraft, and 4 wd stuff, as much as it costs to get into FPV with good equipment, it's still cheaper than ever before. It's a great hobby. Now I want a quad I can fly, lol. I'm pretty sure I can't afford a volocopter.
