More like this for sure. Thanks for the effort and honesty. I ordered the Sky 02c after your initial testimony. Thanks. 3:08 Those are MLCC Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitors. Tantulum capacitors offer higher capacitance for a given size but are polarized (only suitable for use for DC blocking and DC filtering, or application where the voltage never goes negative) and have higher ESR than MLCC, generally speaking. They also tendancy to go short-circuit and explode in a fireball when pushed beyond their limits. MLCC have other weird properties (capacitance changes with voltage and tempurature), can have reasonably high capacitances (although good ones are expensive)

😬 You connected the skyzones ground wire to the PCB wrong and looks very close to touching another component. Loop it around the SMA connector. Skyzones quality and PCB design looks vastly superior to Aomway, and fatshark. It's so neat and well integrated.

So, I bought the v1s goggles like the first day they came out.... Then all three other goggles hot the market like 3 days later (at least that's how it seemed) how mad am I going to be at my purchase?

I'm not saying the aomway is bad at all. But no matter how I record it it always seems that way but in reality it's a good goggle but the skyzone is slightly better in terms of lcds and just overall build construction. I bet the DVR is possibly alot better on the Aomways.
@billdor1215 жыл бұрын
@@DroneMesh so looking at this video.... It doesn't seem impossible to make the aomway take a rapid fire module... Could the input ribbon cables, or their input pins be highjacked to take rapid fire instead of the, what I'm assuming, is a regular 5808 module?

Can the skyzones be powered using the micro usb port? Thinking of using a powerbank instead. Awesome teardown btw, really helpful. Thanks mesh!
@patricklangdon91295 жыл бұрын
No they cant. Even to get a connection to a pc through usb you still have to have a battery to supply power to the 02x

DVR's are usually shit because they use: a) old compression algorithms and containers like MPEG, AVI, etc. b) not nearly enough bitrate to store the FPV in a visually lossless way c) may not store frames that were completely lost due to the interference and I suspect the cost of engineering a specific ASIC just for FPV dvr (where the signal quality varies wildly) is just too high for too little reward. There are already chips on the market that do the job cheaply and poorly, but still well enough they don't justify engineering costs for building one optimized for FPV and quality.

I can't tell but they could also be smd chokes. I'm not sure why'd you put a fuse there but I could see a choke in there maybe to do filtering or impedance stuff.

As much as I can see, you can replace receivers on Aomways. With a minor mod probably even use 3rd party receivers. You can't do that on Skyzones since there is only 1 huge pcb with everything on it. Therefore I would choose Aomways between those 2,despite stupid solution with that ribbon cable. Nice video, I like teardowns. 👍

Hello, DroneMesh! Have you try to contact Skyzone with dvr quality issue? If you have some direct contacts with them all happy and unhappy by dvr quality users of skyzone 02[x/c] will thank you a lot! :)

Whan the aomway stops working, don't even try to test the wires with the multimeter, just get a set of ribbons and replace all of them. Whan you lay old ribbon it flat it might work, but whan you bend it it might loose the connection and not work

I heard you mentioned you're a pretty experienced when it comes to tearing down an Electronic devices. You're touching those micro electronic (semiconductor) components. I just hope that you were grounded/discharged at first prior to touching the components to avoid failure due to unforseeable voltage spikes (aka esd). The reason I said this coz your vid did not either show or say that you're safety at first. Cheers!
