Wonderful job Rick. I picked up a Mavic Pro charger from a third party because I got tired of waiting the hours necessary for my batteries (6) to charge. However, I do run them through the standard cycle equipment every 3rd or 4th cycle just so it all talks to each other. I did not realize though the level of sophistication that DJI put into their hubs. It amazes me that they do this at the price points they hit. Again, great job on this video clip.

This video appeared randomly as a "suggested video" for me, and I'm really glad it did! This video was incredibly informative, and didn't feel like an extended advertisement for your company. I believed I just about have my wife worn down, and will be purchasing a Mavic Pro Fly More package soon. Prior to watching this video, I was just going to order it off of Amazon and call it good. Now you can bet I'll be buying it from Drone Valley. Really enjoying your videos. Your ability to teach things in an entertaining way is fantastic. Not to mention that the production quality of your videos is top notch. Thumbs up and subscribed.

I will be purchasing a Mavic Pro as I already have a P4P, so the information about using the P4P charger was great. Thanks again Rick and when I do buy my Mavic Pro I will indeed purchase the Advance Hub from your site. Love the information you put out. Keep up the great work.

Drone Valley I've seen a lot of the other third party chargers you just mentioned. As enticing as they sound, I always like to stick to the proprietary products when it comes to electronics. Very nice comparison. I like it. And appreciate the time you spent for this review. Only one thing I'm worried about is battery's life. What I understand between changing time and battery life is : The quicker the charging time, The hotter the batteries and The shorter the batteries life. What about that concept and do you think it's gonna affect battery's life?

I think that the plastic guide #1 was probably first designed for the standard hub (like a universal hub ) ..but found in the testing process that the phantom 4 charging unit was burning the hubs out ..so they made the plastic guide #2 so only the mavic charger would fit ..until the they could find solutions required to create the Gen2 hub or advanced hub as we know it

Hey Rick thanks for your great reviews. I have purchased several items from your webpage because of the trust I have in your reviews. I would however like to ask you to review the DJI Propeller Cage for Mavic Pro. I got mine today and had a very bad experience with it. At first I really liked it because it allowed me to travel in tight spaces with out the worry of running a prop through a bush or tree. But then I had to climb to get over a house and things went bad really bad. Now keep in mind I was not racing the drone around. I was moving very slow. I stopped and hovered over the house about 50' above it to get a pan of the area and then started back down. As the drone started to descend I saw it start to yaw left and right. I stopped the decent but the yawning continued, I then tried to climb in hopes of leveling the drone but again no luck. I tried to return to a hover but the drone started yawning violently and began to just fall out of the sky. When I recovered the Mavic I noticed that the cages 2 and 3 had broken props. During the violent yawning the props got caught in the wire mesh and then were ripped of the prop mounts by the motors. I also noticed that the cage lock that held cage 2 and 3 together was missing and was unable to be found. The cage lock for cages 1 and 4 was laying on the ground near by were the drone had crashed. When I put the cage locks on I made sure to follow the directions (I read the directions completely). I made sure that the lock was properly seated and I heard the clicks when the lock latched on to each cage. I doubled checked the lock to make sure it was seated correctly and was locked into place. At some point during the flight the cage lock must have broke because cages 2 and 3 could be seen moving independently from one another and this motion caused the violent yawning that brought the drone down. I would like you to review this item to make sure this was a freak event because if not DJI has a flaw in there design that could result in a serious injury or sever damage while using this product. This product is great for getting into tight spaces and for use inside. I will be calling DJI tomorrow to see if they are going to replace my drone and the cage system for free or whether I have to use my DJI refresh Inc. I bought with the drone. Sorry to be long winded. If you want to contact me my email is Shubmer@yahoo.com

Before I upgrade from IOS 11. will the current IOS 12. version run on the min 2 with go DJI GO 4 app? Thanks for all your help.

Thanks Rick. Great review. I'll just stick to the standard hub I've already got. Would be nice to charge simultaneously though. Maybe in a future update hopefully. Thanks for the review Rick, very useful info! On my Mavic Pro Advanced Charging Hub, it charges 2 batteries at the same time (I have 3 batteries in it, and 2 of the batteries both have their lights flashing at the same time). I'm using the regular charger and 3 regular batteries that comes with the Mavic Pro Plat. Now I'm wondering if that's a good thing, that it charges 2 at a time, or is that a defect that's making it do that?

Unfortunately, I've only ever been in sport mode. As I've had quite a while to fly my Mavic and I feel the connection between my drone and I. I always fly a controlled flight path to be sure my drone isn't having any malfunctions for about 5 minutes. Averaging a 20 minute flight time; I make sure to gather my footage that I intend to with precision and accuracy. This why I've been able to see a difference in my speed. I'm extremely curious if I'm alone in the issue or not and I know I can trust ricks experience as well as weighing in the input from other viewers. Thanks guys. Sorry to depreciate anyone's confidence in their Mavic if I have.

Daytona 6263 I appreciate the gain on perspective. I can't help but to get the sense that it has something to do with the updates... as it wasn't until the update before last that this problem has come up. In all honesty; I didn't think about running in nothing but sport mode as being a problem until long after I said it on here, it doesn't seem like a good idea. I am only going onto my 10th hour of flight time with the quad and would be really disappointed if it's the motors already.

My Bad! I watched and listened to your video and was impressed about how the M1CH-P would charge 4 DJI Phantom 4 batteries. I purchased the M1CH-P thinking it would be an advantage since I have DJI Product, but I did not realize that the design of the batteries from the DJI Phantom 4 changed when they brought out the Phantom 4 Pro much to my surprise. I know now that the DJI Phantom 4 Pro batteries do not fit the 4 station charger. My Bad. You made the M1CH-P sound so good I failed to see that this video was made in 2017 and was completely out of date as the newer Phantom 4 Pro batteries are completely unusable as they must have completely redesigned the batteries. I really liked the idea you could charge 4 batteries all at once as I have 4 batteries. The newer version of the charging station only has 3 stations.

@Dronevalley7 жыл бұрын
You might try "resetting" the battery by draining it until the lights go out. Even though it appears dead at this point, there is still about 10% of the charge left in the cell. By doing this, you'll reset the metrics in the battery and start fresh when you charge it back up. Once you've depleted it, charge it and you should be fine.

I really wish I could choose my own input current to the cells so as to extend the cycle life of the batteries. 300mah overnight would do nicely, instead of the ridiculous 3amps or so we're stuck with.
@Dronevalley7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the post but the DJI batteries have a controller built into them to do that for you. The difference between these cells and the more common LiPo ones used in RC was that with RC the cells are "dumb" and you need a smart operator with a charger you can control how they are charged. With the DJI batteries, the charger is "dumb" and the cells are smart and can regulate themselves through the charging (and discharging) cycle to provide the optimum current needed. I appreciate the post and hope that helps. Rick

I don't own the phantom 4, but I have the advanced hub with 3 mavic batteries. Is it worth it to buy the phantom charger for the faster charging? It's 55 dollars, so idk if I should spend it for the faster charging. But if it is worth it, I will :D
@Dronevalley7 жыл бұрын
If you're not planning on buying the Phantom series, adding a Phantom power supply to the hub is expensive and will still only charge them one at a time. A better option would be an aftermarket charger like this one - tinyurl.com/y986ly2g - that will charge 3 cells at the same time as well as the controller and your phone. It's the one I use at home and it works great for getting you out the door and flying quickly. Thanks for posting, Rick

Fast charging does shorten Lipo (or lithium-based) battery life in long term. This is battery charging 101 if you are into the RC hobby. Every consumer grade Lithunium battery has a recommended charging rating, I have yet to see any exception. Tesla does have a patent about minimizing damage caused by fast charging (1), but they still apply throttle to charging rate if you use supercharge too often (2). 1. www.patentsencyclopedia.com/app/20130221928 2. teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/if-you-fast-charge-tesla-will-permanently-throttle-charging.90230/
