Literally just got the mini 4k after an unfortunate incident with my mini 1 with a tree on a mountain. First flight I noticed how smith the display is compared to the mini 1. The 4k resolution and screen response already has me blown away

It's virtually the Mini 2 that has been sold since 2020 (but at a much reduced price). These drones are highly underrated. The only thing I can find that DJI changed was the WIFI transfer of your footage to your phone, and the controller that comes with the Mini 4K is the RCN1-C and has only half the batteries that the RCN1 has that came with the Mini 2. Personally, I bought the Mini 4K to replace my banged up Mini 2. It was cheaper than repairing my gimbal on the Mini 2! Plus, all my Mini 2 batteries, the RCN1 controller, and accessories all fit and work as before. Great little drones! Thanks for the wonderful shots that show off what it can do.

I have had this drone for a month now. it is, of course, my first drone and I am very positively surprised by it. it handles amazingly even in quite strong winds. I definitely recommend buying a spare battery, but it is still great fun for me and my son! I recommend it to everyone! Regards Greg😃

I've got the mini se and mini 2 se and They've got the mini 3 for $416 bucks now..I'll probably go that route because it's just a $100 bucks more and it can fly longer..but the mini 4k is tempting

I would suggest save up and go for the mini 4 Pro, that's what I'm doing. I also have a mini 2 SE and the only upgrade you get going for the mini 3 or mini 4k is 4k. Wtih the mini 4 pro you get so much extra feature's like collision avoidance, tracking, flight path and much more.

6 miles is with clear LOS and no interference. I have a lot of tall trees near me and I struggle to get to a mile. However when you fly over a lake or a clear field your distance increases.

Not the RC, The RC-N1 and possibly the Original Smart Controller. I believe it’s O2 Transmission.

The picture in this footage is not very sharp a bit blurry out of focus or not sharp enough!?

It's hard to really judge the footage on KZbin because of the compression and processing they do to minimize the file size. I can tell you that right off the memory card it's rock solid and pretty amazing for a $299 drone. Nothing on the market compares to it at that price point.

Yep, that's what I call the "VIO Effect". When you're close to the ground, the bottom VIO sensors kick control the hover and take over from the GPS. They are less accurate and you will see a little drift. Once you're about about 15' the GPS kicks in and it's really, really stable. This is one of the main reasons that folks lose their drones when flying low over water. That reflective surface drives the VIO sensors crazy.

I was wondering the same thing and I think it's a limited edition model. It's essentially the Mini 2 drone with an upgraded imaging package to provide the 4K video and a lower price.

DJI doesn't specify the elevation limit, but the drone has a 4000m limit for it's takeoff location. Either way, you're still limited to 400 feet above ground level for flying unless you're directly over (or very near) a structure. If you go any higher than that you have the chance of hitting a commercial flight so always stay lower than that and enjoy the view.

I received the Mini 4K yesterday. Very disappointed. Nowhere, that I can see, does the literature explain that the list of compatible cell phones that work with this controller is *extremely* limited. Even Rick has not mentioned that fact as far as I can tell. I was willing to buy the RC2 controller with built in monitor - but NO, it does not work with the Mini 4K. And so I'm stuck with a $450 unusable drone. I will contact DJI today. Very sad I must say.

Thanks for the post and it's nit the drone, but the DJI Fly app that you're having issues with. That app requires a fairly modern phone/tablet to work since it streams HD video back from the drone to your phone. There is a compatibility list that DJI publishes and it's listed under the DJI App page for all the drones. Here's a link to that page - www.dji.com/global/downloads/djiapp/dji-fly

I think I'm going to plunge into the pro version. $$$$$ but will no longer need any phone as a monitor. BTW my phone is an AT&T Calypso. Not very high end !

My mini 4k gets only 20 min per battery. I’ve had it out to 17,000 ft and still able to RTH. Great drone that has everything I need.

The only major difference between the Mini 2 and the Mini 4K is the video. This new one can record 4K footage @30fps. If that's not important, I'd stick with the Mini 2 you already own. I hope that helps. Rick

@@Amocat1 The Mini 2 can only record 2.7K and the bit rate is lower at 40 Mbps. The new Mini 4K records 4K@30fos with a bit rate of 100 Mbps, so it's an improvement overall.

Bought the mini 4k a month ago and I absolutely love it. Easy to learn to fly, takes great quality video and photos, & it’s compact (I took mine hiking around Scotland). I would buy a second battery to extend your flying range. Super product!

the DJI original mini was supposed to be the best thing at the time, one year later it's a waste of money. will this one fallow in it's foot steps....

Thanks for the post and tech is always improving so it's hard to keep up. The original Mavic Mini was actually released in 2019 and there have been 6 or several iterations released since then. The best one out right now if the Mini 4 Pro but the reason that DJI is releasing so many models is so folks can find one that fits their needs and their budget. The new Mini 4K isn't the best one on the market of the Mini's but it's priced right for new fliers and packs a ton of tech into the drone. I hope that helps explain things. Rick

Thanks for the post but they can't actually do that because of the image sensor and processor. The Mini 1 system can't support the 4K and there's no way of upgrading that without changing those parts.

@@Dronevalley Thanks for replying! Is that a fact or un assumption? Because I don't mean it have to have the same sensor of the new Mini 4K but using the one in the Mini 1 could work? Also the Mini 2 had already 4K and they were just one year apart. Maybe a software upgrade would do the 4K available?

@@MarquesRomeu The challenge with the original Mavic Mini is the image processing chip and possibly the sensor. If you check the specs, you'll see the bit rate is slow at 40 Mbps and to process 4K (even at 30fps) you'd need a higher bit rate around 100 Mbps. DJI can't fix this through a firmware update and it would require updated hardware.
