my favorite tuning :) the low D has such a nice grunt on the right bass

Nice! I played with a Hipshot D-tuner for years on my P bass. Oh man, that low D sounds so good! And can really change a bass line giving it so much more heft. Thanks Paul!

Sounds great . Mark king of Level 42 uses drop D on Micro Kid and The Chant has Begun . He uses a 90 gauge E string

Awesome topic brother. My own first intro to drop d was a lot of the wall by Floyd. Brick 2, run like hell, so much more bad assness with that drop d.

drop d just sounds so badass hell yeah

Hey Paul. Your videos are great! Is it possible that you make bass tab for a song called “stay all night” by The Black Keys?
@gabedriver11 күн бұрын
Hey man, I switched all my basses to DR fat beams! But the only one I changed differently was my Steve Harris signature bass because it asks for thicker strings. I had Steve Harris signature flats, but I hated them getting dull so I wanted to make an experiment and I got actually DR highbeams 110 gauge to 50 and they work awesome and much brighter

Ha - I was going to recommend “Gunman” but you beat me to it. Here’s an odd one: “Kansas City Milkman” by Level 42. Unusual for Mark King not only for the tuning but also because it’s almost all finger style, not slap bass.

Paul, great video and song selections to highlight drop D. I also created a playlist with about 50 songs I've covered that are (more or less) in drop D. If you're interested, here it is kzbin.info/aero/PLVxYxu78XjWhBH8I0YxEhQCUTcxeXxJjJ

You have to love the algorithm! I was just playing along with a number of songs in drop-D tuning by Ratt, Audioslave, Soundgarden, STP, etc., and this popped up :)
