Well done, the small details always make or break what makes a grappling channel average or good. This video was a good example of really putting emphasis on the small details and the STRUCTURE ofwhy something works. There's a reason why John Danaher, Peterson grappling, and Gracie have the spotlight on grappling channels

I am curious about 1 small detail on 2:20 Why does the arm position differ from the "regular" ippon seoi nage, does it offer any biomechanical advantage from the way you would execute a standing seoi nage?
@kaanaksu920116 күн бұрын
hooking into the other armpit would be more difficult because the opponent is higher than you while you're on your knees, this grip is faster and stronger

Hi Shintaro, your content is really appreciated and I like how I can identify my own mistakes while watching the videos. Sadly, our coach usually only has time to look at our techniques superficially and point out basic mistakes.

During uchikomi I understand the execution of this throw but during randori I just can't seem to find the opening to execute the throw. I still can improve on my shoulder mobility for the morote lapel grip so any exercise for that? As always very helpful video sensei

Find the opening by faking a technice I think.In shiai it really helped me so I think give it a try

shoulder dislocations with a band is great for improving shoulder mobility. But if initial kuzushi, is sufficient, you dont need that much mobility .

Sensei one question.What if the uke in the kouchi doesn't bring his leg back and knows we will go drop soenage?
@Shigashi844 жыл бұрын
Can look to keep working kouchi, work a snap down, improve position, throw some fakes in there to gauge reaction. If they know drop seoi is coming, im sure they will react to that, so next exchange, we can try to exploit that.Hope this helps

I’m a BJJ player and your videos have helped me with my stand up. I don’t have a Judo school in my area or I’d train Judo as well. Are the belt ranks in Judo the same as BJJ? I mean the colors of belts I’m sure the degrees and time vary. Awesome videos🤙
@Shigashi844 жыл бұрын
Very similar. White yellow orange green blue purple brown black. But a lot of adult programs skip the orange blue and purple. BJJ obvs omitted yellow orange green. Comes from the same place
@shazamsakazaki4 жыл бұрын
Are these kinds of throws allowed in BJJ tournaments? I heard slams are illegal. Would these throws be considered slams or takedowns like the double-leg?
@William.H.Bonney4 жыл бұрын
Shazam Sakazaki tournaments have different rules from each other usually depends on which one you compete in but yeah slams are usually illegal but a throw isn’t a slam

Are drop seoi nage good for a surprise attack?
@Scuba_Steve_lll4 жыл бұрын
Requires a bit of set up but my favorite throw
@randybowman14934 жыл бұрын
Ideally a surprise attack should come from the rear. So I'd say if you're surprising somebody from the front then you should consider sneaking more.
@Shigashi844 жыл бұрын
Definitely can be a surprise if you attack high for a little while and save it.

Hey, I am a competitive Judoka and I find that I always get nervous before I go on the mat for competitions and then perform poorly, do you have any tips for relaxing before a competition? Also I know competitions won’t happen for a while but it was always annoying for me because I can beat everyone from where I live in Randori But then when it comes to competitions (even club competitions) I get nervous then perform poorly.
@Shigashi844 жыл бұрын
First of all, it's very common. For me, I found having a pre-match ritual helps me a lot. I take myself through a breathing routine and a few exercises to put me in the right mindset to compete. Also, the more you compete, the more you'll get used to it. Hope this helps.
