Last year May 2022 I was hospitalized and diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I'm 70 yrs. old. One of the symptoms I had wa I lost a lot of wait from 145lbs down to 110. I look pale and my urine was getting darker and my stool color was yellow. us I don't feel like eating. Before I had my first xhemo the dictir inserted a aluminum stent on my bile duct. Once that was done I was able to eat and steadily regain my weight. I completed 12 sessions of chemo every 14 days and 28days of radiation. Next I'll my surgery done to remove the tumour on my pancreas. It's a long journey but I have faith in God that I'll get through this.

My father died of pancreatic cancer. I have just found out that I have some fatty replacement of the pancreas. The first step on the road to pancreatic cancer. I have to lose 10kg and have another ultrasound. I've lost 5 of it in 7 weeks. I'm lucky I found out early. You must remain strong. Keep smiling and don't let anything deter your faith or hope. Wishing you luck from across the world in Australia. 😉

I’m 25 years old and I haven’t had pancreatitis for over a year now! 2 years before that I was hospitalized with acute pancreatitis 14 different times. It was like every month I was in the hospital for around a week every time. Unfortunately, the cause was my own and could have been prevented from happening in the first place. May 17th of 2019 I lost my little brother - he was 21 years old. It did something to me I just can’t explain and I drank and drank. Despite every doctors advice I just couldn’t stop, I didn’t care what happened to me. After a lot of counseling and therapy I am much better than I was but it’s still a struggle every day. If you happen to see this comment would you please pray for me? There’s times when I really don’t think I have what it takes to keep going in life but I know with God all things are possible.

Dr Roy, you have perfectly described my severe acute pancreatitis caused by gallstones I never knew I had, in ITU for 3 weeks, with complication of sizeable pseudocyst and type 1 diabetes, and subsequent removal of my gallbladder. It took me a year to recover and return to my baseline. I have currently underwent cystogastrostomy with placement of axios stent for ongoing symptoms of pain, nausea, vomiting and early siatety for over 2 years. Your advice on taking care of yourself is extremely important, this is not a well know and therefore misunderstood disease. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, I hope it helps to teach many people the importance of a healthy pancreas.

my wife died just before Christmas last year and was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis, necrosis of the pancreas and multiple organ failure. She started to complain of nausea and vomiting one night and thinking it was food related we just treated her with drinks and no food. After two days she wasn't getting any better so I asked my son to take her to A&E to be checked out thinking of course we would see her the next day. We were called in the middle of the night after she had her first cardiac arrest and when we got there, she was on full life support and in an induced coma. We stayed with her all night but her blood pressure fell so low that it could no longer sustain her heart and she died in the morning. She had a swollen abdomen for many months beforehand so we now think it had been rumbling on for ages and came to a head that night. Apart from the swelling she had no other symptoms so please please get yourself checked if you get any swelling and sponginess on the belly and especially if you get any pain or nausea or unusual rashes.

Thank you for this. I've been having problems with my pancreas since mid 2020. I didn't even know what I had until I went to the doctors, at the end of that year. I didn't have any symptoms at all. Except for the bloating. Today I have constant discomfort. I think it's getting better. I'm only 33 years old. I'm still digesting my food properly, no oily stools. My physician told me that I was one of the lucky ones. Because usually pancreatitis is really bad. I guess it's true, because a co-worker of mine, said that their uncle had it twice.

Yeah, pancreatitis aint no joke and the pain is real, and INTENSE. The pain is enough to make a grown man cry. I was diagnosed in 2013 and it seems every two years, I have a pancreatitic attack that leaves me in a hospital for at least two weeks at a time. My first stint in the hospital (2013), only had me there for 5 days. Since then, I've been there no less than 2 weeks at a time. Actually, in 2016 I was hospitalized for about a week, and since there, at least every 2 years. In 2018, I experienced the most intense episodes of them all. I was in a medically induced coma for 4 days, because the pain as was so intense that the fentanyl had little to no effect. My situation was dire, and it almost killed me. Two years after that (2020), I was hospitalized for about two weeks...and almost two years later (2022), I am having mild stomach pains, and I am quite aware that this is the distinct, unmistakable stomach pain which is pancreatitis. Thankfully,, due to ibuprofen, the pain goes away. However, I've been taking the pills too often, and I feel as if I am a walking timebomb, and at any moment I will experience SEVERE stomach pain that will land me into the hospital yet again. The one thing that concerns me is....pancreatic cancer :(

@@Pr0ph3cy-k5z The ibuprofen helps with the low/mild pain...no way in HELL will it help with the severe, excruciating pain that will leave you hospitalized crying like a biatch.

Thank you Dr Roy as very well done explanation of Pancreatitis. I had acute Pancreatitis three months ago. Went to Urgent care and went home following Dr. instructions and at end of 7th day everything okay. Have had no problems at all but watching diet and drink plus started fasting 36 hours every week. CT scan said Diffuse peripancreatic tissue stranding extending into the epigastric and retroperitoneal fat. Would you recommend I go get another CT scan to see if any changes or just keep doing what I have been. Not much mentioned about people who can go on and live a normal life after one attack which is scary. Thank you.

I’ve been diagnosed initially with idiopathic acute pancreatitis, a month later it was changed to idiopathic chronic pancreatitis. Started on digestive enzyme replacement (lipase was the problematic numbers, like 2500 when I presented to the hospital. A couple years later had another flare up with all the same symptoms, was told my pancreas looks normal and healthy in ctscan and in endoscopic ultrasound. Was told it’s not pancreatitis at all, that it’s just IBS and there’s a pill for that. A couple weeks ago I had another week long episode and they said it is pancreatitis but my ctscan looks normal. Lipase was 408. This rollercoaster ride needs to let me off!

Can relate so much to you... My serum amylase, lipase levels are always elevated and my ct scan reports shows that my pancreas are slightly enlarged but doctors say this can be due to thrombotic micro angiopathy or sjogren's syndrome which I was diagnosed earlier and I get hospitalized atleast once in a month for atleast a week every time I get it 😢 I'm honestly very tired of fighting everytime... It not only keeps away from being physically healthy, it is also draining me entirely mentally.... My studies are also getting affected a lot... I'm honestly just lost at this point on what I should if I get another pancreatitis attack 😥😞 I can't afford to go through it once again 😭

I’m in the hospital yet again, my last post here was before Christmas and now I’m in hospital again a few days before new year, still trying to tackle this. The nausea is killing me. I’m hoping I’m about to get in the clear but what a nightmare this affliction is. I’m sorry you can relate to my woes as much as you do, I wouldn’t wish this fresh hell upon my worst enemy let alone someone much more innocent and blindsided by this ish all too frequently. I wish you luck and good health! ❤

My hospital stay was twelve challenging days long. We were really just trying to get me stable and to stop the vomiting. Since being discharged I’ve been doing much better. I’m eating less meals with fatty foods but am still eating some fatty foods occasionally and I’ve had zero nausea, zero vomiting. I was told in the hospital that I have gallstones but they said they couldn’t remove them, they could only remove the organ entirely. My symptoms were consistent with my pancreatic flare ups in the past, and my lipase levels were high, and they didn’t show me any images of my gallbladder showing any stones, and the subject was never brought up again.
