When the pancreas doesn’t work properly, you can develop disease such as Pancreatitis and Pancreatic Exocrine Insufficiency (PEI). When you have PEI, you don't get the nutrition you need because your body can no longer absorb fats and some vitamins and minerals from foods.
There are prescription medications that work for most people that give you a new supply of enzymes, so you can go back to digesting food the right way.  Besides taking medicine, you can manage your symptoms by making sure you follow the right diet, one your dietician or doctor can recommend.
Further to that, microbiome research is continuing to grow in the area of PEI, and is focusing on how altering the gut microbiome could have therapeutic value for this condition.
In our latest #CDHFTalks, Gastroenterologist Dr. David Armstrong goes over the function of the pancreas, pancreatitis, PEI, the treatment options that are currently available, and research on the potential role the gut microbiome plays in affecting symptoms.

Get a stool test called elstaste (spelling?) stool tests helps to termite if pancreas is working efficiently. Also you should have an examine of pancreas. Digestive enzymes or something your doctor can recommend. I’m going through this process currently.

@@txmade4371 I was experiencing middle of back pain when my inflammation was really bad I’ve went to the doctors since this post they’re still not positive but think it may be gastritis that didn’t get to heal and also duodenitis they gave me acid blockers so i can eat with a little more comfort and so it can heal I haven’t taken the medicine because I don’t agree with doctors that prescribe meds without knowing exactly what’s going on they’re guessing and throwing meds at it to see what works I’m not really about that

My hubby has been diagnosed with this. He has never lost weight though. I do worry what caused it. The Dr has never seen him , so this worry Mr as my hubby has pains in back also. How can a Dr know how you are unless he looks and feels your abdomen. We are fortunate a nurse ordered him a blood test for this. Thank you for this video. So beautifully explained. This man is obviously very passionate about his chosen field . I just wish we could have an appointment!!

Epi is a horrible condition. So glad I don't suffer pancreatitis which is a positive on my side. Mine looks perfect but elastase and other digestive enzymes are just not being produced enough. I think it's a Hx of campylobacter and h pylori. It just whooped its ass. I have no weight loss, just soft and greasy stool. No diarrhea or any of the common stuff that a lot of others have. It meses up your gut bacteria completely. I take creon but doesn't do much no matter what I take which doesn't do a thing for fat malabsorbtion or breakdown which is mad frustrating.

@cattyhatty7574
@cattyhatty7574 Жыл бұрын
I’ve experienced that as well if I had to take a guess I’d say that it may be signs of hypoglycemia from inadequate digestion due to pancreas failure the body not absorbing properly, in my case the brain fog was accompanied by shakiness and slight weakness

I think I might have diagnosis here to listening to you I've been seeing a GI for years and years and I've told all these symptoms and they all Fit Plus until I drink heavy in my twenties started making me really sick and even just a little bit of drinking could lead to days and days of sickness so I had to quit stop drinking for years and then I started having problems with milk products I had to stop drinking that was with a one day just turned on it made me horrendously sick with horrible diarrhea 6 millions. And then chocolate, any kind of stimulant whatsoever makes me horrifically sick. I can't go take regular laxatives you should use milk of magnesia if you ever have to use something cuz I would have runs all the time but I'm on some medications they're strong and constipate me which I'm kind of glad I'm on them cuz otherwise it runs would be a problem all the time I'm on methadone for my pain for my back surgery operation where they messed me up gave me MRSA almost killed me put me on months and months of IV antibiotics which No Doubt screwed my guts up worse. I've been going to GI for years they were trying to diagnose me with crohn's cuz I've had some autoimmune stuff happening I had my immune system attack in my eyes and my various points in my body before I thyroid took a little bit of damage I'm on a little bit of artificial thyroid 50 MCG for now. And they say it was definitely my immune system attack in my irises I was on steroids for that for a little bit. But this has been like I'm 42 now this has been over 10 years I've been sick and suffering trying to get answers first they thought it would ankylosan spawns the light is with multiple sclerosis. Then they change that to we think you have Crohn's and extreme fibromyalgia and some other kind of autoimmune condition. And they've left that like that but we're still waiting to find out anything else and it's just kind of crazy the thing I have a bleed. It's causing me to have anemia I had to have a blood transfusion my first got out prison and a whole bunch of iron infusions. I had two years they basically let me suffer in that place for a burglary where nothing was even stolen a broken into but there there were some addiction problems at that point after what was done to me at the hospital and all the pills and everything and then cutting me off real fast after I threatened to see the doctor just it was a hell hole and with all this time I started getting really sick and then I mean until they think it's Crohn's and I have Asperger's and there's a lot of people there is really quite strange strange thing. But I have to listen to all the stuff on epi and this seems to be the right thing I'm getting the pain the trouble digesting I mean sometimes I throw up it's like regular puke sometimes I throw up it's like bile and just really just nasty really sick sometimes people assume right away that I'm back on drugs or that mainly like people think that I'm drinking or something they can't figure out how somebody could get that sick without doing something first you know but I do my body's messed up I'm trying to find answers and I'm not getting anywhere cuz he's doctors here in the middle of the United States near Chicago they love to build the insurance companies but they don't want to do any real work. I had to fight with them to get them do anything it's almost as bad as it was in prison they try hard to fight you not do anything for you because if they deny everybody and I do Jack they save a lot of money that they would have spent on treatment. The Wexford low budget low bidding medical system that takes care of prisoners is completely evil also there are feeding all of us out of bags that say things like not for human consumption written in big bold letters on the sides of these bags. And there is all sorts of things like nice chips and things donated from a restaurant and biggest things like we got a whole bunch of Subway meatballs donated to us and they try to give the the guards all that stuff and not let us have anything tons of people donate things it's for the prisoners with the guards take it on top of making 40 to 50 bucks an hour to not do anything not get up and not answer questions that you jack shit these guys are letting the guys run everywhere. All the prisoners all the prisons Illinois that I saw the guys were letting inmates just take care of business just do whatever. The only good thing for me is I lived up towards Chicago and I know some really tough ass bad ass dudes and I got some relatives that were recognized as being pretty insane and brutal for being a white guy so I had a little bit of a good street cred and I was in for a crime that's not considered bad. When there's about 69% of the guys that are in there in there for extreme sexual crimes I mean extreme and this is minimum security where they really shouldn't have any of those people in the first place but there were serial killers or cereal rapist I'll switch people are down for murder and guys that were in for beating their wives nearly to death tempted murders and extreme domestic batteries none of these people are supposed to be in these dorms which are not cells they look like a military camp we have the bunk beds and one big room that's what all these different houses have it's too big areas and he's too big about 100 people per house they're originally designed for 50 in single buds but Illinois came back through putting double beds and then brought an extra people not carrying that the bathrooms the showers the gyms everything was designed for half that capacity. I got no help when I was in there now that I'm out I'm just finding out by this Epi stuff my doctors never mentioned this had gone over any of this with me even though she's a GI doctor she does Scopes all the time. I can't believe it I mean these are the most symptoms other than extreme IBS and cramping it caused me to get hurt and bleed some time that's strange too much I got to take medication to try to reduce that but it's because things are going into my big intestine messed up already that's what I'm understanding here.
