You’re absolutely correct! My swarm whisper and my new DX are the same as maxxim and viper ! I also have two gen 3 mags 22 and 177 ! My 22 whisper and DX are my go too! Dead accuracy over 1,000 shots and awesome! Tighten LOCTITE those stocks screws big difference! The mags are nice but the breaking and price go to Gamo USA snag a DX $139 you’ll thank me later I promise guys 👊🏻👍

About the pellets loading in the magazine. There is a "spring" in the magazine, if you fill it with the pellets you actually have to push the pellets over the spring to let it keep in place. Already found out with the second loading of the magazine. If you put the pellets in like you showed, and how you THINK it should be good, you can have the experience you mentioned. That the pellets might fall out with breaking the barrel. I hope you , and all the others can have this advantage in loading. btw, i use a rounded rod, like an old screwdriver that I rounded off, to push the pellet with the head over the spring. Have fun with the shooting. I do. 😁🥰😊

Greetings after over a year to you sir. I gained an appreciation for break barrels. One thing that I didn't mention in previous comments. Regarding the Whisper I owned, no issues ever with the magazines. Although, I wanted to know if you've experienced any difficulties with longer pellets pellet length is only one reason I'm considering purchasing more quality economy and old school expensive side - lever, under lever and break barrel rifles. There are what I refer to as 'pellet sticks' which are essentially speed loaders for pellets, that can be used for convenience as well. I corresponded with you within thr last 17 months, and purchased my first PCP rifle during the summer. I am an aspiring 'F - Class' rifle shooter with years of high power rifle shooting experience, preceded by small bore, air rifle and air pistol during adolescence. Your video caused a pleasant memory to recall again. I won the regional smallbore championship with a biathalon Anschutz (1710??) back in 1992 with a t- shirt and standard M1 Garand sling. Then I realized the critical importance of ammunition blocks to keep count of the rounds after disqualifying the score with one too many shots into a nickle sized hole in the center of the 50 meter target! Ha! How about that?! Even after all the impressive (to me anyway) things done with combat handgun IDPA type shooting and National Match Highpower, 1,000 yards, that stuck in my mind for a bit.

if anybody is interested the end of these guns stocks are hollow all you do is take two screws out of the butt pad and you can use the inside for storage if u make some sort of way to open and close it easier I made a home made cheek rest with snaps. Also it help to add weight in the rear . The gun seams front heavy otherwise
@drsrussandpaula2 жыл бұрын
It is good to hear from you toospookyforyou .... I found that pockets or small shooting bag can carry the things I need. I found the front heavy and was even worse when you add accessories like a bi-pod, flashlight and laser.... so I filled the rear stock with baking powder to add weight. This is probably a good idea with any gun whose stock is made of polyurethane... Others have stuffed it with rags... Dr. Russ

Gidday Dr Russ from Donald in New Zealand. Love your work. Thank you very much. Just found your channel. Been binge watching your good oil. Very helpfull. Just got a new Gamo .22 3 months ago. whisper, swarm, mack1, stand up mag, 10x 1st gen, fluted barrel, 3x9x40A0 outdoor optics, a cinch type sling around stock and barrel at muzzle end of poly plastic. Sling is kinda ok. Fabric rifle storage bag. 2 tins of pellets ~us$650.00 here. About 2 x200 pellets through rifle. Asked for most repeatable accuracy pellets. Im at about 3~4" spread from 10 pellets at 25yds laying down on similar to bean bag. Pellets; H&N baracuda hunter extreme [ cross and hollow point ] 18.52gr. Weighed 50 pellets 10 came in at +/- 0.002gm. Remainder -0.005 /+0.020gm. Im keen to see what repeatable accuracy improvement from near same weight pellet. I had already tried yellow paint marker using cotton bud inside rear skirt. I cant see the pellets yet. I returned and asked for one tin the same and one heavier to try and close down the spread. I have 2 more sealed 200 tins. Both H&N. 1tin [200] same baracuda hollow and cross 1.20gm /18.52gr. ~us$20. 1 tin slug HP 11 25gr.~ ~us$35. Should i take them both back to shop and swap for a rounded solid nose, waist & skirt? Or try filling the heavier slug hp 11 pellet advanced hollow point with candle wax to improve aerodynamics? Keen to see your vid on how to fit suppressor you endorse. As Its a wee bit loud. Muzzle has 2 roll pins holding outer non vented pretend suppresser. Thank you & kind regards Donald

I've got a squirrel problem in the garden, so I picked up a Gamo varmint, for $89. After using it for a week I decided to jump up in model just a bit. Decided to get the Swarm Whisper 10x. I think it's the first version of this series, was able to pick it up for $119 which seemed reasonable compared to the $90 for a single shot spring driven model. Hope it was a good decision, the rifle just arrived today.

I see all the comments are very positive and complimentary. You are called the Doctor for a reason. The Gamo Swarm 10X was my very first air rifle years ago and I could hit a spinner from 20 yards. EDIT : I love that you described the artillery hold by putting my elbow against my body. I always held my arm away and there was no stabilization. Recently shot one of these and helped clean them. Using a push or pull rod is no issue cleaning the barrels. When broke open the autoloader easily pushes out of the way. I would never recommend a cleaning pellet in a spring piston air rifle. There is not enough back pressure for plunger and could damage the air rifle. This is my opinion.
@drsrussandpaula3 жыл бұрын
I agree Fallguy and should have said so in this video.... thanks for the info on the autoloader pushing out of the way.... did not know that either ... though self cleaning cotton pellets clean this barrel easily..... It is good to hear from you drurry nuff'said ... and thanks for the compliment. Fortunately, the break barrel rifles aren't real loud to begin with and good suppressors would double their price. I was talking about baffles that can go into the Swarm air rifles that have an outer barrel around the actual barrel. They are made of rubber or felt and look like a small suction cup. they slip onto the actual barrel with a hole in the middle of them ... but stay inside the outer barrel. The Maxxim has an outer barrel ... but the Magnum does not and it is the loudest of the group unfortunately. The Swarm group appears to have suppressors on the end of their barrels ... but all are hollow and don't do a thing. The 22 Magnum is the loudest.... One idea that is cheap and easy to make ... is a rectangular box covered in carpet or foam ... setting on the end of your shooting table which helps them become more backyard friendly with neighbors. Lastly, is to shoot from a table inside your home and with a window open ... but you have to take extra precautions that no one is around that would make your shot unsafe. Please stay in touch.... My go to .22 at the moment is an Umarex Targgis Hunter. I love the Precision and the power, I did have to upgrade the scope... I didn't go too crazy, I went with a Hatsan for about $60 but I'm having good results. I personally like having the high over/under scope mount to retain the ability to use the iron sights... to me there is satisfaction with being able to whack something at a distance with open sights. I have been checking out these Gamos and thinking about pulling the trigger on one because of the 10-round magazine. After watching your video I've decided I'll hold off until the technology gets better and more dependable.

Thanks Dr. Russ for this review. I have been wanting to get a gas piston rifle and was tempted to get one of the 10x rifles but I think you helped me decide not to. The biggest drawback to me is the high sight plane compared to the center bore, which makes a huge difference when you're shooting small pests between 10-50 yards. As you stated, the Gen 2 improved it a little, but I would still rather the scope almost touch the barrel or just use open sights. The $40 for a problematic magazine is also a deciding factor. In fact until someone comes up with a better design for a repeater, I think I will stick to single shot.

Will do Doc. I have several firearms and taught pistol for many years. Was shooting a 22 rifle at 9 years old . I had some BB guns and an old BENJAMIN multiple pump pellet rifle in the late 60’s . I’ve become more involved with Air rifles and a couple of Crossman pistols . I think I’ve purchased 6 or 7 in the past year and a half . I’m getting more interested in the Pre charged air guns like the Marauder. I definitely need to thin out my collection with the exception of family heirlooms to pass down . The cost is so expensive for the upper level air guns . I’m reload rifle and pistol ammunition and have really developed a newfound love and respect for the air rifles and ballistics / projectiles as well as the technology . Your lessons are comprehensive and I’ve learned so much in the past week from your lectures . I do enjoy my Walther Parrus. Wooden stock 177. I’ll keep studying and work on staying airgun sharp / If you have any recommendations for the Marauder or Hatson or other refurbished air guns that are the precharged entry or midrange I’d appreciate your recommendations.
