I respect Dr. Taylor Marshall. But none of us are perfect, other than the Messiah who is also a man, Jesus. Speaking about Saints, Popes and a sinking ship, here is my question about who is a saint and who is not. Robert Belarmino, Cardinal Inquisator Judge, one of the judges for the conviction of Giordano Bruno. Summoned Galileo to the papal court for heresy in the 17th Century. Galileo had to recant or also receive the same punishment as Bruno. Galileo recanted so was allowed to spend the rest of his life under house arrest. If I am incorrect in any part of this history, please let me know. R. Belarmino was canonized by Pope Pius the Xl th in 1929. How are these saints chosen and are we supposed to pray to them? Jesus in Matthew 6 , never said to pray to saints, his mother or to use prayer beads. Any mistakes I have here , let me know. Thank you. TF

Kevin, in elementary school the nuns gave me and our class a "saint " to pray to. The name of this person is Dominic Savio. Each student had another "saint". Did you experience this too? In 325 AD / CE , the Emperor Constantine and certain churchmen had an idea. ( looking at the statue of Diana (Athena for Romans) They thought, the people want a wonderwoman ; we can give them a new wonderwoman by the name of Mary. So now we see the statue with prayer beads in church buildings and other places. Some of us are the prodical sons and daughters that have come back home. Thank you for your thoughts. Why not quote Jesus in Matthew 6 on how to pray with our own words ; without beads , to our Heavenly Father, and in Jesus Name? The catholic Bible cost about $ 10 (paperback) in a Christian Book Store. Thank you Kate.

William, a catholic paperback Bible costs about 10 dollars. When you read again Matthew 6, the apostles ask Jesus "how do we pray?" This most important chapter , we see Jesus telling us how to directly pray to our Heavenly Father. The Lord's prayer is a formula for prayer. Hail Mary is not a prayer but a statement by an angel to Jesus's mother. Repeating it 50 times in one rosary period will not make it a prayer. We need to study Jesus formula to make our own prayer, in our own words, to our Heavenly Father; and in Jesus name. Why? Jesus is our savior and teacher. Jesus has never said to pray with prayer beads, or pray to his mother, or pray to saints like Dominic Savio or any other saint. Saints bring the Gospel of Jesus to us; they don't want us to pray to them. Take care, be joyful.

Dr. Marshall , we should all read the Bible (perhaps a chapter everyday) Studying history is very good too; especially the history the Lord gives us in the Bible. Was raised catholic; my catholic mom did read the Blble, especially the Psalms. With this in mind, you said everybody loves Padre Pio. The vast majority don't know who Padre Pio is? Is he in the Bible or High school history books? Why did you say, "everybody loves...." Bishop Sheen is more well known; but he is not in the Bible either. The greatest method of prayer is the rosary was not said by Jesus. The Apostles asked how do we pray and Jesus answered in Matthew 6. Jesus never said to pray to saints, his mother or on prayer beads . This most important chapter in the catholic Bible or any Bible should be read more than once for sure. When Jesus's formula for prayer is understood we can pray directly to "Our Father" in our own words. Why in Jesus name? Jesus is our Savior and teacher.

Please let me give you some insight. It's NOT heretical. It was Our Lady's "Yes" to be the Mother of God as revealed in the first Joyful mystery of the Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Remember, it's Mary's DNA that is present in Our Lord and Savour, Christ Jesus. As Mary FIRST gave us the Body and Blood of Jesus in her chaste womb through the Holy Spirit, she was the FIRST to give Him Eucharistic (Jesus is the Bread of Life) love and worship. So when the Priest, who is His Minister, elevates the Host during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, it's Our Lord Jesus that mystically transforms the bread and wine into His Body and BLOOD. Mary was the vessel, ark that brought the Holy Redeemer into the world, and she remained at His side at the foot of the cross, where Jesus completed our salvation on Calvary. So, wherein her "YES" and her DNA actually makes Our Lady not only present at Conception, but also she was on the Cross with Him at Calvary, and she continues to both intercede with Almighty God for us (her children) and assists in the dispensation of all His Grace's. Read the Magnificant and ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes because what you may think is nonsensical is actually TRUTH and you can take that to the bank! Store up treasures in Heaven, not here on earth where the heretical deceivers may steal your crown of Life! Just saying....
