fbi + ATF The FBI has some redeeming qualities, like they find kidnapped kids. Point is someone must do as they do. But the ATF? FDA can (should) handle booze/cigs, which makes sense. As for firearm regulation, they do a piss poor job, legally redefine terms against logic. I believe in gun control (so long as it is constitutional), but let's give the job over to someone who doesn’t have the track record.

I remember Rainbow Farm, I have family in that area. They really messed up. They fed children the government wouldn't, they employed those their neighbors wouldn't. Can't do that and get away with it. Michigan did (and still does) use civil asset forfeiture as a bully stick. You can't fight it. Qxir, perhaps you should look into the U.S. use of civil asset forfeiture. It's amazingly ridiculous and capricious.

@Munchies 2019 as far as actually dealt with them not really. I know I ran into them out by the gate and they were really concerned about the police getting called for any reason. They were dealing with some medical issue that happened and trying to get the person to the hospital. I know a lot of how they were able to get away with what they were doing was without a warrant the cops couldn’t do anything unless they were called. So they were doing their best to avoid the attention of the cops.

Getting caught by idiotic means, a pair of growers in New York State were accidentally exposed by the utilities company. The two men were using $10,000 a month of electricity. This eventually led to their wires being fried. The utility company came to repair the lines, but the growers refused them entry, claiming they didn't speak English. Then one of the growers tried to bribe the workers with money. There was an altercation, and the police were summoned. During the investigation the police found evidence of the growing operation, a $3 million operation.

First I’ve ever heard of the story glad you covered it! That was the way this went down “civil forfeiture“ that happens all too often in the United States! Unfamiliar mostly with cops taking the money but not writing a ticket or giving you any option to get the money back! The biggest story I know of this is the marine vet, was traveling from Texas to California with 80 grand got pulled over because he supposedly was telling a semi truck, everything was all good I was asking questions like do you have any guns drugs etc. he said no and he goes you’re getting large sums of money he said yes and that’s where it went to shit! They took his money prior to that they told him it’s because there’s a lot of drug traffickers and money laundering or some shit he ultimately ended up getting his money back also it wasn’t the police that took his money they confiscated temporarily and contacted the DEA because you know they get a cut

In Western Washington, USA, We had the Love Israel family. Hippies living on a commune in the country. They grew garlic and other vegetables, ran an organic restaurant in town, and hosted a summer Garlic Festival once a year on the farm. It was open to the community, well attended, activities, vendor booths and food prepared around garlic (even garlic ice cream!). That is until a group of Karen's complained about 2 family members swimming naked in the pond during the event. Oh my! Nudity! And the smell of marijuana wafting in the breeze. County officials eventually shut down the festival, then the restaurant, then the family farm, running them all off to Eastern Washington where now aged 70s-90's, they live in love with today. Sad end to wonderful, harmless hippies of the 60's.

Anyone defending drug laws for any reason should take a step back and think about what you're defending. Cannabis laws literally set up for essentially situations like this. These days in most states they would get a slap on the wrist not 20 years in prison. As far as I'm concerned any aggressive enforcement of growers of pot is unethical to the extreme. If you want to go after someone go after the meth labs and the fentanyl dealers.

That would only apply in a world where logic had anything to do with drug policy. Flying Spaghetti Monster forbid we should ever live in world where "Will this law make everything much worse?" takes precedence over "Will this pander to the right-wing press?". I never cease to be impressed with the sheer stupidity here in the UK of having a government appointed Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs whose advice gets comprehensively ignored the moment it conflicts with the views of a bunch of Daily Mail reading, Little Englanders who wouldn't know the difference between THC and TCP.
