literally one of the only things that helps anxiety unless prescribed a stronger benzo like k pin or xanax. you have to give your dr a serious headache in order to get prescribed these in uk

I was prescribed Venlafaxine and it made me throw up everyday and fucked with my serotonin levels. I took Valium ONCE and it made me feel so normal i couldnt even explain it. Ive tried xanax as well (from a full bar to a quarter bar) and it makes me feel sluggish and sick. The next day i felt drained and irritable with xanax and venlafaxine, but Valium did not give me that low feeling in the morning. Today i took a quarter of Valium and i feel absolutely ready to go to my Job Interview.

My Pdoc has me on 5mg of it when I wake up, and when I go to bed.

You didn't mention Valium as a treatment for anxiety. A long time ago I was prescribed this for severe anxiety and panic attacks and it worked fairly well. Of course I was on it for well over a decade @ 10 mg 3x a day. Now I take low dose Clonazepam which, for me, works so much better than Valium does. .5 mg 2x a day is all I now take. I've tried just about every anti-anxiety pill there is out there and Clonazepam works for me the best.

clonazepam seems to work best for anxiety-induced muscle tension/spasms, which is pretty common with anxiety attacks. I am scared of benzos personally, so i take kratom and other natural medicines

Have you ever tried getting of of them? How was it? I hear a lot of horror stories and I’m just wondering if it’s everyone’s case or if it’s down to having a good psychiatrist who knows how to wean you off.

@@Aesylum_JDLI got off of Valium fairly easily but perhaps it was just me. I think it differs per person as we all have different reactions to tranquilizers. If I had to get off of clonazepam, I understand it is more difficult because of worse side effects. Though I do take low dose it probably wouldn't be that bad to wean off. I'll never know as I've always been on some kind of tranquilizer. I have to be on them all the time.

@@journeyon1983 I’ve tried every medication at this point, and all that has worked are Benzos, so I’m starting to think that that may be my only option right now. I’m young though, 21, and doctors are shy to prescribe them at this age, but I’m glad it works for you, I’m glad you haven’t faced such horrible withdrawals, and I wish you the best.

@@Aesylum_JDL Drs shouldn't be shy about anxiety and your age. If fact that is a good reason to have anxiety. Life can be so stressful when you're young. It was for me. All you need to find is a compassionate doctor who can and is willing to help you. BTW, thank you for your kind words. I wish you luck, as well.

Things can be both lifesavers and your worst nightmare. If you truly can’t function due do stress or anxiety or insomnia, and you just need a little pick me up to just get you back in the right mindset, it’s great. But do it for longer than 2 weeks and it becomes a complete fucking nightmare. And as someone with pretty much constant anxiety, it feels really good. It feels like how a normal person without anxiety feels. I can just look outside and appreciate the weather, I don’t feel like everyone’s staring and judging me for the way I dress or look or walk, it really does feel like a miracle pull if you have an anxiety disorder. But alas it isn’t

Valium makes me a lot less nervous but more impulsive than a honey badger. Not sure if that's a healthy thing.

It do be like that, lowering the inhibitions. Just don’t mix it with alcohol, I know they say respiratory failure is the risk, but you also run the risk of looking a thousand times more impulsive than the most impulsive honey badger when you mix the two. Then you need your friends or your social media to retell the dumb shit you did the next day, if you’re alive to hear it.

Fucking fantabulous for anxiety tho, makes you the person you would be if you had zero anxiety whatsoever. At least at my dosages. It takes years of taking it on and off though to realize how much anxiety gives us our humanity. It’s a suffering, especially when you’ve got it bad, but I find it’s better to have a lot than to erase it completely, because your emotions go with it, as do your memories. Issa trade off. But that’s my experience.

Can valium cause permant anxiety i take a 10 mg pill every 2 or 3 weeks for panic attack the next day ifeel abit more anxiety

If you’re taking 10mg every 2 to 3 weeks it’s impossible to build up a tolerance to it, but of course the day you take it, it’s possible you feel a little worse the day afterwards solely because your clean state is going to pale in comparison to being on the Benzo. When you’re on Valium, given the right dose, you are never going to get anxiety, unless you have some super rare reaction. When you’re off of it, you can definitely get residual anxiety, but I find that it isn’t a permanent change, it’s just your mind getting used to not having the Valium in your system.

As of 10/2019 it is illegal to drive on Diazepam,(Valium,) or any other benzodiazepine medication,etc lorazepam,temazepam etc.

I ONLY use Valium occasionally, ie: not everyday. But when I DO need to use it, is it safe to take 3 5mg in the morning and then only 2mg 5 hours later? I have read it can be given 3 times a day but I DO NOT require that much!

When I was in a psychiatric ward for 2 weeks diazapam was the main drug they gave all the patients in our ward fairly sparingly (in Australia) I'm assuming it must be okay to a certain extent for psychiatric patents? Just curious after you mentioned it shouldn't be.

Hey great question. It is commonly given. I should have been more specific. I was referring to a paper (Mancuso 2004) that found it may increase the risk of hyperactive or aggressive behavior certain patients. One group of patients mentioned is patients with psychiatric/personality disorders. I was wrong to say shouldn't be given. Thanks for bringing that up!

Has anyone who’s been on Valium or other Benzos (edit: long term) for that matter, been able to get off of them with a good tapering plan and without all the withdrawal horrors that people talk of?

I've had a prescription for 2 years. Honestly they are hit or miss on whether they work, but I have no problem not taking them I take or leave them, but I have a issue of turning to alcohol first as its fast acting but when I do avoid this I've had some great results from diazepam , I suffer from anxiety depression ptsd muscle spasms and insomnia ( where I wake after only couple of hours) for spasms and staying asleep I don't find them that effective and have read only temazepam can make u sleep through. For anxiety, mood swings and stopping panic attacks I've found then to be a positive outcome. Though I've found sometimes they don't work so it depends on dose on day i can range from 5-20mg id need to take. It annoys me that Doctors are so difficult over them, because of this attitude it scares u off taking them when u finally do get them. Things really need to change considering they will throw anti depressants at people like candy, and they are way more damaging I've tried to kill myself twice on Anti depressants & im not the suicidal type , I have had nearly all AD'S out there, they have never worked and side effects of some were debilitating. My mum has been on anti D"s for over 30years so how can that be classes as better or less dependency to the substance than valium.. do you know you would need to take at least 2000mg of diazepam at once to overdose. I can honestly say I really don't have any side effects off them. Sometimes I've been shaky but I was like that before them and propranolol can make u shaky when u try come off. The stigma round diazepam needs to stop & people be given the choice more for them without being worried they'll be classed as a junkie, especially when some people stay on Anti District decades

Years ago I had a panic attack, went to the hospital and they put Valium in my IV. Let me tell you something, it made the attack even WORSE. I lost complete control mentally and couldent manage my panic.
