Drum Major Lessons - Conducting Fundamentals and Basic Patterns

Hey everyone! I’m so glad that you all are finding these little tutorials helpful. I made these videos when I was a senior in high school as a resource to the aspiring drum majors there, and never imagined they’d get this kind of reach. A lot has happened since then! I am going into my third year of undergrad at UT Austin, where I study Human Dimensions of Organizations (largely inspired by my role as a DM!). Additionally, I am about to leave for my third season of drum corps, serving as the drum major at the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps! That said, I have learned sooo much about conducting as well as what it means to lead an ensemble. While much of the instruction I offer in these videos is helpful, some of my opinions have changed and I encourage you all to remain open-minded about your approach. Your Hand Directing Is VERY Similar To That Of Proficient Organist. Posture & Hand Position & Feet Positions Is Essential, Choral Directing Is Also Similar As Wel As Handbell Choir Directing.

You can but it can help the band with the style of the music if you add a bit of spice
