about music stores... there's lot of jokes about them, but not for the reason. many newbies just come there, try some instrument on a well known melody hundreds of times. this is just irritating. so it's propably not a matter of gender that your friend had it this situation. propapbly they were tired. i remember when i still played guitar along with bass (depends on band), when my friend asked me to go to a music store to chose an amp. the only store in town, so i had some fraterisize there but not much... stil below 20yrs of age, so... we both came there, asked for few amps to check and EVERYONE in this shop was... 'meh, take this, meh, take that'... but i've insisted. pal took his guitar, i've tuned 3 amps to his taste, i've kown, and started playing and tuning more. in few sec all staff was around us because i wasn't playing all the things they're hearing day by day :D just random things to check the tone but new for them :D so sometimes it's not because of look, but because being tired :D

Not sure where you got your information from, but she's 68 in this video, but she's 70 now. She lives in my area and she's given drum lessons to several people I know. She, also, plays other instruments as well.
