"Like That" is a favourite of his that he's written (if i recall correctly) so maybe that would be another good one to listen to

I love that he is a "waste no part of the animal" player. On another song (Aqua Regia) live he plays a cymbal stand to add a bit of flavor. The -stand-. And it works.

If you like that he is using the side of the drums in here you will love what he does in Like That. I know it's a lot of Sleep Token but II is so worth it

This play through is soooo good. Wish there was a full audio version of it, as this is far better than the original.

II is like a superb ER surgeon, mostly clean and precise but he can dig in and get dirty when he needs to. I’ve seen cuts that sync up different performances and he’s so on time.. I see hypnosis just dropped, so I will join in the nominations for “Like That.”

This channel actually has an hour long interview with II where he breaks down his methodology, inspirations, and other information between multiple playthroughs of his pieces and actually for live performances he will change the composition as he's had time to think about the piece which is very interesting - he will keep the core support structures the same but accentuate them differently based on his own preferences. Very dynamic musician and drummer. The drum solo for The Summoning is a live addition and isn't on the studio release. He and Vessel are the only members of the band (III and IV are touring members only) with II performing all the drum parts and helping with lyrical composition and Vessel doing everything else from the vocals to guitars (and as of TMBTE, he is also now co-producing). With their varied palette that spans across multiple genres you can absolutely tell they're both prolific musicians with an immense love for music as an art form

Fun fact about their live sound: Every second and pause is thought out by II. He's really specific in what he wants his kit to sound like. Therefore he usely has a drum tech, but the FOH is a drummer and drum tech as well. The FOH and the fc walk the room with virtual sound check before the artist soundcheck to make sure the sound is everywhere on point. They have 62 inputs and 49 stage inputs. They use triggers for gates, no triggers from tape. Microphones on the kit are a mixture of audiotechnica, se and audix. All toms audix d6, se bl8 on kick in, audix d6 on kick out, se 4400 as overheads, se v7x on snare top, at ae3000 on snare bottom, se8 on hi hats, atm 450 on rides. And the foh likes to use tom bombs and likes to drag it out. I'd love to see a reaction of 'Like it', it's II's fav written drum parts to that point, it' very fun and intuitive to play for him.

At this point, I'm going to need you to do the hour long Drumeo video 😩 I love the explanations bc idk anything about drums and I love to be able to fully appreciate ii's talent. 🖤

It's just as filthy live. They way they write its like Vessel's lyrics and ii's drumming are a duet. I csnt explain it better!!

My favorite drummer. His beats stand alone as you said!!! Please watch more of his drum play throughs. He does some to Like That, Hypnosis, Alkaline and then the rest of the drumeo video you’ve watched parts of :).

Yh, 8 string EAEADGBE is their typical set up for those low guitars. Certainly live at least. Who knows whay shenanigans musicians get up to in the studio. Edit: II is Vessel's writing partner, so yoire comments on this drummer's muscianship is bang on :)

Great breakdown of one of my favourite songs. If I can suggest you video for next reaction, you have to check Thomas Lang performing "Time", mindblowing

I do believe IV (guitarist and backup harsh vocals) uses an 8 string guitar. Maybe a baritone? Definitely check out some live performances and drum cams when you get the chance. They're fantastic live. The entire Drumeo interview is great as well. I see some drummers have massive kits but only use a fraction of it while II uses everything. I like that. His snare tone is fantastic.

Stumbled on your video, guess the KZbin algorithm is working nicely for you or at least I hope so! I know nothing about drumming at all and never really have paid much attention to drummers, but watching II is completely different for me for some reason. I watch his Drumeo video whenever I’m stressed out because it is so calming to me. No drummer has ever had that effect on me…usually it’s more of a pump up situation. But something about II’s style and approach is like meditating for me, it’s so weird. Maybe you have insight on what it is about his technique or presence or approach that might be the reason. OR I’m just a top notch weirdo and in that case, I’ll just show myself out 😂😂

I dunno how to distinguish cymbal sounds, im sure to a musician you guys hear the differences, but aside from the bell part, they just all sound like the same cymbals to me lol
@tiffy32604 ай бұрын
Oh and the china.. so i guess i can only distinguish the bell, china and high hat lol. But i get confused with the china, coz it sounds like something a "crash" would sound like to me, but the actual crash is something else.. hahahaha
