I liked the confidence of the younger version. Why do we never hear the beardless dude play, surely he's not so bad?

I loved this, and I bet there are many, many drummers out here that wish they could do the same thing. Very well done, D-Dog.

Finally got an audio interface & mics for this reason, just being able to listen back to what I just played is already enough help to know what to listen for once I play it again. Noticed my kick is real lazy and very out of time thanks to this, real game changer! Also is nice to hear the drums through monitors and not through ear plugs.

Wow Nick!! Even back then you are fast!! In my case I feel that my progress has stayed as it is for at least 15 years or so ever since my 3rd wrist op, this was the first of the last 5 highly intrusive bone crunching ops I have had, so 7 to date .. Got ANOTHER 2 at least to go .. As mentioned in your tom flares video the sheer momentum of trying to get around the kit fast is actually very painful for me … I’m more of a hip hop/break beat drummer anyway and prefer the mid tempo breaks of hip hop, funk, also the more musical friendly playing of people like Nick Mason of Pink Floyd and so on so high speed fills with intricate technique isn’t my thing anyway .. Even if I was capable of this I would be in excruciating pain doing it!! BLOODY IMPRESSIVE though mate!!!! 👊🏻👊🏻

I recently did a comparison of me playing the same gear in 2020 then again in 2022, after more than 1,000 hours of practise. In my case, the sound was way better in 2022. Even cheap cymbals sounded much nicer with my improved skills. Tuning, muffling and such setup has also improved, but purely how i later hit the drums and cymbals made things sound better. So I’m thinking, in your later video, are you sure it’s the studio, microphones etc that should get most credit?
