Yesterday someone wrote about Eloy that he wasn’t playing ghostnotes, they are Poltergeistnotes. I couldn’t have said it better. As much as I like Jay, I‘m in with Eloy.

Jay have nice dinamics but Eloy is one of the goats thats a huge difference. He is precise, powerfull and fast dope performance and double bass.

I hate how it ended with Jay, and mad respect to Jay’s talent. But Eloy just brings an entirely different vibe to Slipknot, it just feels like the better fit. Really excited to see where Slipknot goes with Eloy.

so there was actually an interesting 3 way switch up for bands drummer wise. The guy who played with Suicidal tendencies now drums for Sepultura, Eloy from Sepultura now drums for Slipknot and Jay from Slipknot now drums for Suicidal. They all actually fit better in their new places. It works.

Eloy reminds me a lot of Joey with his groove and how hard he hits. Definitely an upgrade

I think it's not a competition at all. My opinion is that both are really good, they have different styles to play drums. Which one is better for a band? I say it's Eloy at this point. He has a nice groove going on KZbin and all the hype for his playing, it's really good for the band.

I think the mix and the way the kits were miked could have a lot to do with the difference in how each drummer sounds in this comparison. It will be very interesting to see what Eloy comes up with in new works. That will be the true test.

Colby I'm from the Old testament when drum solo started i attended a lot of Live concert's Grand funk railroad has a great drummer level 42 also before that we had Ginger Baker from cream..not to exciting but He made his impression and lot's of jass drummer's Latin music ive experienced a lot in my youth i started visiting at the Age of 10..im now 67.. music is my mother language being Fast is fine but to be entertaining is the bomb blast in drumming

The audio Quality of those recordings is not even similar. Saw thema live with Jay behind the kit and it was really good. Hope to see them with Eloy too. ✌️

in my opinion, difference that make Eloy feel way better are the drum mics. And maybe the drum. Is superior in tecnique but mostly is the drum sound

Eloy is the better choice but Jay is also a really good but just different, but Eloy is one of the best drummers in the world and nobody can play the rock genre metal style like him… 😮

I am Brazilian so I am pretty biased. But lets be honest here, Jay's video audio is pretty trash for a comparison!!! All Slipknot drummers made incredible contributions to the band but I think Eloy is in a whole different bracket when it comes to drumming. I am an average guy who likes to eventually play drums. I can play slipknot, no worries, just give me some time to warm up, but try to freaking play Sepultura, specially the "Quadra" album or "Casagrande and Hanes", I need to be born again to play that shit... Eloy playing Slipknot is a walk in the park...

Eloy is not superior. Their styles are completely different. Eloy is a pure metal drummer and a better fit for Slipknot, period. But Jay is the kind of drummer that could literally fit in almost any style/band, and that's because of his dad and his upbringing into music and drums. So, to compare the two is just ridiculous🤷🏽‍♂️

Ele é um musico completo. Nao é apenas do Heavy Metal mas o Eloy é o melhor baterista do mundo em Geral! Estudou bateria a vida inteira. Toca tao perfeito que parece um robo ou algo criado em estúdio. Muito, mas muito superior ao Jay em todos os aspectos. Isso nao tira o fato do Jay ser um ótimo baterista e estar entre os melhores do mundo tbm só que Eloy esta níveis acima de todos os outros!

One thing is for sure, Eloy's double bass drums are not the same as Jay's, you can see the difference right from the beginning. It sounds like he's choking on something, at a completely strange pace. They are both great, but Eloy is the best.

Maybe in playing slipknot songs, he should be better considering he wrote the parts, but over all….no way. Joey at his absolute best is nowhere near Eloy in power, precision or speed. From a technical standpoint it’s not even remotely close. Eloy even at 14 destroys Joey, Jay and pretty much anyone else in that genre.
