Seen KISS 83 times with my first in 1977 at 5 yrs of age. Seen them on the reunion tour in 1996-1997 17 times alone. I seen this tour which was the Farewell tour, 4-5 times.
@willhorting53173 ай бұрын
You must have had a considerable amount of money in order to see them that many times. Myself, even though I have been a diehard fan since '76... and have owned every KISS album except for Carnival Of Souls and Monster...I only got to see them once, back in '86, when they finally came to my little city. Every other time, they never got within 2 hours of me, and I simply couldn't justify spending the money to travel to see them.

I saw them 3 different times. 1979, the Dynasty tour in Duluth, Mn. 2000, this tour which they called "The Farewell Tour" (turned out it was just farewell to Ace and Peter) in Charlotte, NC (with Ted Nugent like I said the other night) and 2019 "The End of the Road" also in Charlotte. I took my son who was a US Marine. The concert was Aug 10, he was supposed to deploy to Japan the week before, but got delayed. Like you said about your dad, all the way up to the venue (PNC Music Pavillion) which is about 45 minutes away, I got the vibe of "yeah, ok dad, I know you love these guys, I'll go with you". After the opening song (Detroit Rock City) he SCREAMED "DAD, THESE GUYS ARE F'ING GREAT!" He left for the bathroom and another beer and was gone for a long time. He came back with 2 concert t-shirts and an "Eric Singer" signed disc for me. On the way home, he just kept on shaking his head saying, "Un-f'ing- believable" and "I've been to a lot of concerts, but never a SHOW like that!" Sorry to get a little long, but you spoke of your relationship with your dad, that made me think of this. Suggestion- an early (1975) live version of 100,000 years. Peter Criss drum solo and Paul Stanley does a fan interaction that rocks. In your words "Let's gooooo!"

'Deuce' has always been a killer opening song for Kiss... they would open their concerts w/ the song in their early days (1974 - '75) and they also opened their 1996/ '97 reunion tour w/ 'Deuce'... Yes, the 2000/ '01 tour was the original Kiss (w/ Ace Frehley & Peter Criss) - their 'farewell tour'. I recall going to see their Minneapolis, MN show in 2000. Incredible show... Skid Row (w/ singer Johnny Solinger) and Ted Nugent opened (Nugent ruined his night by shrieking, "If you don't speak English, get the hell out of America!"... As an immigrant myself, I took it personally and flipped him off! Nugent trashed Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell after he was killed in 2004... called him the 'drunk, ugly American'... and this after Pantera covered his hit 'Cat scratch fever'... I believe I told Ted Nugent on social media after he attacked me that Dimebag Darrell was a much better guitarist and human being than he would ever hope to be...) Paul Stanley (and Gene Simmons) revealed in their autobiographies that touring w/ Ace and Peter in 2000/ '01 was an ordeal... which is why it was announced as a 'farewell tour'... Both Ace and Peter were broke by 1995 when the proposal came to do the reunion tour in full Kiss makeup... At first, it was great... sold out shows... the band was making million$ and both Peter and Ace made million$ as well. Unfortunately, w/ money came substance abuse problems... Ace was drinking and using drugs again by 1999 (as his ex-girlfriend would confirm years later) and Peter Criss was difficult to deal w/ at times... Peter was 50+ years old and he didn't have the power that he used to playing drums; they admitted to using drum triggers so that he sounded big without much effort while playing. When the tour was to hit Japan/ Australia in 2001, Peter Criss discovered that Ace Frehley was making more money than he was contractually; Peter demanded more money and a new contract... Paul Stanley told him that Eric Singer (the non-makeup Kiss drummer from 1992 to 1995) was waiting to come back for the same money. Peter decided not to do the tour unless he got a raise... so, Eric Singer did the tour in Peter Criss' makeup... Stanley said they were hoping for one more tour but Ace Frehley was in such bad shape from substance abuse that they scrapped the dates... In 2002, Tommy Thayer (lead guitar) took over Ace Frehley's spot in his makeup... According to Paul Stanley, Ace was always cutting it close to showing up for shows, missing flights and band calls... so, Tommy Thayer was always ready to go onstage if Ace did not make it on time. Tommy Thayer was the expert on Kiss music and he was the one who prepped Peter Criss for the reunion tour... and he also worked w/ Ace Frehley, who couldn't remember his own lead solos to Kiss songs. For his part, Ace Frehley realized that he needed to sort himself out after leaving Kiss (again) in 2002... He was supposed to work on a solo album but scrapped it and disappeared for a few years to get clean... Ace re-emerged in 2009 w/ a stellar new solo album 'Anomaly'... He doesn't tour regularly... he prefers to do the odd shows... and claims he feels more productive and creative away from Kiss. His solo album have done very well w/ very little promotion - 'Space invader' (2014) ... 'Spaceman' (2018)... and "10,000 Volts" (2024)... as well as covers albums "Origins Vol. 1" (2016) and "Origins Vol. 2" (2020)

@setonhillstudios3 ай бұрын
I’ll have to go back and listen. Usually if you see small black boxes on the rims of the toms/snare then you know they are triggered. Triggers will also give you a very consistent sound regardless of how hard/soft you hit the drum, depending on where you have the threshold set.
