There may be squabbles and issues like any other family. Some had substance abuse issues. Some had other issues, but every single one of them shared the same goals and dreams. To make KISS the greatest Live band on earth, every time 4 members took the stage. The Unplugged show was no fluke. I agree. We see all 4 guys contributing much more equally & a rough, tough, raw sound. Not over produced. Very real & very cool song structure. Enter 1976 rock & roll over, Kiss is now a proven entity. Still the 4 of em, working things out, but production is starting to get pretty slick. Love gun is beautifully produced, but we are beginning to see Pete’s Jazz/swing groove give way to pure power drumming & Ace’s soloing getting more sharp & crisp & starting to sound a little less like Ace. Less strings ringing out, where Ace might let them sing. This is all tidied up. Then Destroyer hits & production is full on. Too much in my opinion. & on some of the songs, I begin to wonder if that is Ace & Pete at all ? Or are they simply progressing as musicians & their natural flow & nuances are changing. Or has the slick production changed their style to the point they are unrecognizable. After Alive 2 it becomes clear & evident, Ace & Pete have others stepping in & doing some work & Kiss is never the same again. Not to say they got bad, just that they were no longer the band I fell head over heels for. The whole groove & vibe they once had, slowly diminished as Ace & Pete slowly checked out. Then the reunion. I was ecstatic, I imagined the possibilities of new material with Ace & Pete, coming back in, fresh, rested, with new perspective. It did not materialize as I had hoped. Those 1rst 4 albums are such a treasured gift. The rest are great, but there will never be anything like the 4 of them fresh, hungry & all with their head in the ballgame.

In 76 they became my rock hero’s . I didn’t get to see them until 79. I wasn’t old enough to drive yet , and my brother was forced by my parents to go with me. We went again in 96 , and 2000. I have co worker friends in their 20s and 30s . They hear me praise KISS , and see my key chain , coffee cups , and shirts with Kiss , and they are confused by the old famous band. They only know songs they’ve heard on the radio. And they only see the half band today. If ever shown the 70s Kiss , they are blown back like , we were.

The early KISS is where it's at! This is when the music was the driving force behind the band, not the money. When money became the most important aspect, the music took a backseat.

One of the most influential rock bands of all time they sold over 110 million albums and are inducted into the Rock and roll Hall of Fame have more gold album sales than any other American rock band and without the kiss live show any show that you seen in the last 40 years would not be the same it all has kiss DNA in it. Ask motley Crue Metallica Nirvana Pearl jam STP Garth Brooks Lenny Kravitz skid row poison and many more what got them wanting to be music artists.

This is one of the first times on tv for KISS..... i got to see them here in Nashville on their very first tour in 1974 and i was hooked as an 11 year old the rawness and hunger they had will never be duplicated by any other band

I was 13 when Kiss hit the scene. Saw them on tv and was an instant fan. Their early stuff is killer, they became more pop like as time passed.

This is actually an old Wicked Lester Song Gene brought back for Dressed to Kill Original version had flute and fluff They stripped it down and it rocks They were pumping out 2 albums a year 74-77 So there is some filler material but overall prime KISS ruled the world in the 70s Like them or not, they always payed their dues and would do “anything”to make it

Yes zeppelin but NYC sound from the period. Saw this first run. 1974 ? Then We were Kiss Cadets, no Army yet. U-tube has a recording from "the Dasy" in Amityville long Island where they found makeup from A clowns show prior to their arrival. They used it because it was there. The rest is history. I love that you checked it out.

Well now...welcome to the club...welcome to the family...and welcome to the KISS ARMY! Now you know what literally millions upon millions of fans around the world know: KISS is a GREAT band. Deep dive? My man - how deep ya wanna dive? Just for show? Hardly. When referring to KISS, Gene Simmons has often said that they’re entertainers, not musicians. Maybe humility, maybe marketing, but KISS has showcased their musicianship several times through the decades. Check out KISS MTV Unplugged. Raw, talent, acoustic. Gene Simmons’ melodic bass and better-than-average vocals on display on Goin’ Blind. Paul Stanley’s vocals on the whole thing, but especially on the intro to Rock Bottom and the ballads Every Time I look at You and I Still Love You. Zeppelin grooves? Keep Me Comin’ from Creatures of the Night, or All Hell’s Breakin’ Loose on Lick it Up. Eddie Van Halen is easily one of the greatest guitar players ever, my all-time favorite rock/metal guitarist, but guess what? He tried to get a spot in KISS. A musical genius, who changed the way people played that instrument. Now check out Ace Frehley using the same tapping techniques (which Eddie perfected beyond belief) in the 70’s, when Eddie was still in grade school. Bruce Kulick, who played in KISS through the 80’s & 90’s hair-band years is a PHENOMENAL guitarist. Lead chops? Check out the intro solo on No, No, No, from Crazy Nights. A blistering clinic played against Eric Carr’s double-bass tempo. Speaking of drums, Eric Carr played in KISS longer than Peter Criss did, and is easily one of the most underrated rock/ metal drummers. The intro to No, No, No, showcases his double-bass tempo, but it actually goes way back to the song The Oath, on Music from the Elder. The most polarizing of all KISS albums. Fans love it or hate it. The songs, when taken out of the “concept” album standing alone aren’t that bad. Regardless - Eric’s prowess is evident in dozens of songs, from the very Bonham-like heavy kicks in Keep Me Comin’ and I Love it Loud, to the fast-paced technical beats on I’m Alive, Boomerang (drum & guitar solo), No No No, King of the Mountain, I’ve Had Enough, Under the Gun, yikes…there’s too many. One of the things that plagued KISS through the years, is poor choice of singles released by record execs. Period. Even what was arguably their biggest hit, Beth, was released on the B side to Detroit Rock City. A massive hit for them, but Beth, was a chart-topper. There are so many amazing songs in their catalog. What do you want to hear? Zeppelin-like grooves, fast-paced, double-bass drum metal, beautiful ballads? They got ‘em. The show you saw on Midnight Special was KISS show in diapers. Check out these clips from one of the more recent tours. I took all these photos and videos. This will give you an idea of why fans & critics often refer to a KISS show as “The Greatest Show on Earth”. link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5Oppp2dr6ubqs0 Glad you gave these guys a nod. I hope you enjoy the rest of their catalog. There’s some real cringy stuff in there, embarrassing even, but there’s also a ton of gold and platinum. -Paul

Kiss was a business brilliantly executed. Say what you want about their music… Gene Simmons was a genius. He knew what he wanted to accomplish and he knew how to do it, and he delivered. They rocked, they gave a show that dazzled, and, from what I’ve heard, they’re pretty good guys. I’m not a kiss fan, but I respect what they do and who they are and what they’ve done for music through the’70s and the influence they’ve had on the industry. These guys did everything to deliver an awesome show to make sure their audience left the show impressed.

Actually it was Bill Aucoin, Neil Bogart, and Sean delaney who were the marketing geniuses of Kiss in the early days until they rocketed to fame. Gene Simmons had nothing to do with it.

Literally just search kiss live. Watch every full concert that pops up. I was a kiss fan since a kid and I was about 11 or 12 when we got internet and all I did was hold my guitar and watch concerts and try to learn every song I heard. Kiss is insane. It’s not just the show the makeup the fireworks, the outfits the boots, the fire. But the music. Kiss has to be the most underrated band musically

This is from their first album, and it's the original lineup. "KISS" had several of their concert mainstays: She, Black Diamond, 100,000 Years, Firehouse, Cold Gin. You are sleeping on this band, if you don't check out the album that got the ball rolling!

Take the Beatles or Queen. Most of the great bands change their musical style during their career. Or David Bowie. Sometimes the fans follow sometimes not. But being an artist means to develop and try new things.

Kiss was my second concert that I went to, which was in 1979. It was the Dynasty tour in Houston, Texas. All original members. “I Was Made for Loving You” was their top hit from the Dynasty album. My first concert was Cheap Trick in 1978. KISS was the one band that kicked it off for me, as far as Rock and Roll was concerned. 🤘🏼👍🏻🎸

She was written by Gene Simmons and Steve Coronel when they played in a band called Bullfrog Bheer. It was recorded in 1971-1972 by Wicked Lester that had Gene and Paul as members. Kiss released it on their Dressed To Kill album from 1975. The original had flutes and congas. It can be found on KZbin. Wicked Lester - She. In 1977 Casablanca Records bought the rights to the unreleased Wicked Lester album for $137.500 from CBS who owned the rights. CBS wanted to capitalize on the fame of Kiss and wanted to release the album. So Casablanca bought the rights and shelved it. It had photos of Paul and Gene without make up and the music style was different.
