the talent of this guy. the gift he has. ok, he practices 8+ hours a day. but each note, each stroke... ive seen his videos many times and i watch them again as it were 1st time, and each time i end in awe. just love his art. to mention some of his masterpieces, knight of cydonia by muse, blinding lights by wknd, even gangam style by psy. and many more. even when hes not using drums but the tubulum and the other instrument which i dont remember its name atm, the one played by hands... hes a maestro and each time he plays, hes relaxed... he enjoys it all. he gives me peace.

This guy proves you don’t need an 82 piece set to sound ridiculously good!! He is out of this world good!
@flowerlandofjohn Жыл бұрын
Well, guys like Buddy Rich & John Bonham proved that +60 years ago. And I hope that we would agree that a Dream Theater or Tool album wouldn’t sound half as good on a minimalist kit … Big kits are usually (and hopefully) used like a guitar. You could play most songs on two strings, but it sounds so much more beautiful and harmonically pleasant when using six strings. A landscape of harmonies or timbres can be a beautiful thing 👍🏻😎
@NeilD1 Жыл бұрын
Metal drummers kits have got much smaller these days. It was all about the double kick drums and rows of toms and cymbals... Not the case or the need with guys like this around.
@flowerlandofjohn Жыл бұрын
@@NeilD1 Well, and as i said: A Dream Theater album, or a Tool album, or a Mahavishnu Orchestra album, or a Rush album would probably have sounded terrible using a 3 piece kit. There’s (usually) a reason for big kits. And when handled by a professional for building a creative landscape of sound then it’s a beautiful thing!
@flowerlandofjohn Жыл бұрын
@@NeilD1 … so: yes, the “need” for timbres very much still exists! 🫵🏻🦍
@vandersgarage4682 Жыл бұрын
@@flowerlandofjohn I cant deny your logic. It is solid. HOWEVER, you might want to go look at El Estapario's covers of Tool and Dream Theater. Far from terrible and done on his basic minimal kit. So no, you dont NEED a big kit if you have enough skill on a smaller one. He has proven it many times.

@ricardovoltini2875 Жыл бұрын
What an incredible technique and precision. Certainly his dedication is remarkable. But I don't want to live on a planet, where all drummers would play like that all the time. One of the reasons, I hardly ever listen to metal shredders... "Music" has nothing to do with playing as fast and as many notes as possible. It's a bit like formula one. Just imagine traffic if every one would drive as fast and as risky as possible (besides the noise)

“Drum teacher reacts” - and one actual comment about licks/technique in the whole video: and that at probably the easiest lick of them all (hand/foot triplets). You seem like a great guy, but lately there’s popping such an ridiculous amount of “drummer reaction channels” who focus on Jorge. But almost all of them are just about how cool he is and that the playing is “clean”. Without any actual analysis of the drumming. What’s your thoughts on this critique of mine? And: do people (including yourself) just wanna piggyback on his success, and/or are so many without actual knowledge to talk about what’s actually going on? I wish you the best of luck, but I think it goes without saying that this “average nice dude without actual drumming substance reacting to great drummer” is not for me - and frankly I don’t understand the concept at all ✌🏻😂😎 … and yes (before the KZbin community hates on me) I can play the “triplet fill” mentioned above: kzbin.infoZgzy26HBRVM?feature=share 👍🏻😅
@apeistheplace Жыл бұрын
Sorry forgot the comment about his “limb independence”, which of course is phenomenal. Interesting though that it’s played on a “back track snare that plays all the accents” - so a little bit smoke and mirrors going on there ✌🏻😎
@JasonSayersDrums Жыл бұрын
Some drummers do this yes. I do legitimate first time reactions with no pre watching. I find analysis videos boring so I don’t make them. Not to mention on first watch things happen extremely quickly so catching everything takes a very keen eye. If I was to just focus on his playing then yes I could pick out more. That said drumming for me is all about the performance mixed with the playing ability so it would be hard to say everything on first glance. I would need to pre watch the video and make several notes before going into specifics of the drummers playing. Hope that answers a few of your questions.
@flowerlandofjohn Жыл бұрын
@@JasonSayersDrums Well, i might just have “high standards” when I see titles as “Drum teacher reacts”. Then I assume that the actual drumming will be addressed in some sense (that’s why I “humorously” made the comment above that this more becomes - random nice dude reacts). And by that I’m not expecting a total analysis of every beat, but his licks are usually not that complex (fast singles and up & down sextuplets and quadruplets for the most part - I might get hate for that simplification 😅😂). And what’s your thoughts on playing over backtracks, I’ve recently been made more aware that he does that quite a bit 😳 But, with that said: where can I find your actual drumming? ✌🏻
