These songs kept my partner alive for many years. He did 5 tours, but sadly came back with ptsd and drank himself to death but these songs were his everything. The other persons comments are right, where are these heart felt songs now?

This insanity grabs generation after generation. I can trace PTSD back in my family to 1916 including me. He was a warrior, I know that might be of little solace but he was a warrior. I wish you peace Gen

I know this song has a lot to do with Vietnam War and the disillusionment of a romantic relationship but I associate this song with the separation and subsequent divorce of my parents, my family falling apart and me coming to terms with it. The line "How can I go Home and not get blown away?", is how I would feel going back home after the years of war and trauma, sitting there at Christmas with my moms new family and driving home crying. I could write an essay comparing every line in this song to that 15 year car wreck. "When the War is over got to start again" and I did. 37 and I'm at a better place than I've ever been inside and have come to terms with and forgiven my parents for their inabilities and mistakes. Song still makes me well up though.

Cold Chisel never took in Canada. Canadians don't know what they've missed in this great band. I've been following CC since '79 when I picked up East out of a bargain bin for 10¢. It ended up being one of my top ten albums of all time. So sad at the moment to learn of Steve's passing. Too bloody young is all I can say. RIP.

I found Jimmy Barnes by accident. In the early 80's when he was trying to break out here, he released "Freight Train Heart" on WB records, and a dear friend of my dads was the head of promotion for WB in Nashville at that time. I regularly got a stack of CDs and cassettes (transitional period) of new releases. I heard Jimmys voice and was blown away. Many years later I was in the US Marines and was dating a Kiwi that lived in Sydney, and she introduced me to Cold Chisel, and the deal was done. What an amazing talent all around.

Steven Prestwich (born 5th March 1954) is an English-born Australian drummer, guitarist, singer and songwriter. After relocating from Liverpool, Prestwich was the founding and long-term drummer for pub rockers Cold Chisel which formed in Adelaide, South Australia in 1973. He wrote the Cold Chisel's songs, "When the War Is Over" and "Forever Now", from the 1982 album Circus Animals. He had a short spell in Little River Band. Prestwich has released two solo albums.

Mossy had one of the biggest debut albums selling over 140,000 units it was a double platinum album not even Barnes achieved that at the time of his debut album in 1984. Moss is an incredible talent, but Barnes was money maker for the labels, he had a certain something that really was a bankable sure thing. It is not always thoroughbreds that take the prize, and with Jimmy there was "Np second prize".

It's because we lost the Aussie pub scene where the bands had to slog away and hone their skills and compete with other bands. Nowadays they just sit in their lounge-rooms and use computer software and autotune to create a song, post it on the internet and think they are great. There aren't that many bands nowadays where people actually play instruments - just singers. Of course there are some exceptions - there are still talented people out there, but it is nothing compared to the heyday of Aussie music back in the 70s/80s
