As long as you stand on the stone slab near it and play the song, the pond will fill and fairies pop out. I actually did it twice in my last playthrough.

You can only make an 8 note Scarecrow's Song. You make the Scarecrow's Song with Bonooru. The songs you can make for Pierre can't actually be used, it's just something for fun, to make the him dance. Even if the songs you make with Pierre could actually be used, the maximum length is something like 100 notes at most.

The Goron Tunic drastically reduces the rate at which you take damage while standing on walkable lava (such as the main room of Dodongo's Cavern). However, due to them using a somewhat lazy workaround, the same works when standing on the floor spikes in the Shadow Temple. So if you wanna have a slightly easier time in the Shadow Temple in your next playthrough, make like the walls and paint yourself red.

Lava damage can also be avoided by perpetually side hopping or back flipping with the Goron Tunic on. I'd guess that the reason for that is that you're technically leaving the lava's surface whenever you use these moves; so the timer resets as if you found solid ground and then jumped back in.

So while the Hylian Shield can't "break" I'm pretty sure that you can lose it. The tuber-like enemies known as Like-likes will swallow you up and then spit you out after eating your shield. You can recover it from this creepy enemy if you kill them, but I recall that if you leave the area before doing so (you'll probably have to completely exit the dungeon) then even if you return to kill that same Like-like your shield will be gone, requiring you to re-buy it (or replace it with the Mirror Shield.

also if you die to said like-like and go back to try to get your shield back, sadly it and whatever tunics it potentially swallowed up will be gone :( the only things like-likes take from you though are your goron/zora tunics and your hylian shield as a child or adult it can’t take what can’t be bought again

You also won't get it back if you take too long defeating it. I remember the first time I ever encountered a Like-Like I lost my Goron Tunic and Hylian Shield to it, but I killed it in time to get it back. Then I lost my Zora Tunic and Hylian Shield to the Like-Like right outside the Mini-Boss room of the Water Temple, and I took too long killing it. I got Link chewed on two additional times after losing said gear, just in the span of trying to kill it. It never even occurred to me to try to kill it from afar, at least not until I got that reality check. I think seeing the dead Like-Like spit up the gear it ate made me complacent. Boy, did I learn my lesson.

You don't have to completely leave the Dungeon, just the area. There's a like like in the shadow barrier that can spit you on the pit and if he takes something from you is bye bye go get another one from the shop 🫠

For the final part of Bombchu Bowling (the bit with the Cuckoo in the water) if you aim Link straight down the middle and hold a bombchu and let it damage him, the recoil will aim Link perfectly to send another bombchu along the left wall and it will hit the bullseye every time completely avoiding all the obstacles

Another tactic is to deliberately damage a cuckoo that's in the way and then time your next shot for when it comes out of its stunlock. It HAS to move when it is released so there's a good chance it'll move OUT of your way. It's not a 100% guaranteed win strat but it's simple and it's always worked for me.

The deku nut thing on poes is something I see speedrunners do all the time in the Forest Temple. They're the only "poes" you actually have to fight, so they're probably coded different, because it certainly works on them!

Not entirely uncommon knowledge, but in the spirit temple, in the room with the giant statue whose face leads to the boss room, you can hookshot the nipples of the statue and they act as functional targets. And if you glide over to them from the chain platform with the hoverboots, they damage link. The 3DS version keeps this "easter egg" The thing about the quicksand and hoverboots, you misunderstood a crucial detail: they meant the quicksand that voids out Link instantly, ie the barrier between the fortress and the rest of the desert you normally hookshot across, and the underside of the bombchu merchant;s flying carpet. Hoverboots also let you walk harmlessly over the spikes in one of the silver rupee rooms in the shadow temple. Also, deku nuts only work on the first three poe sisters, not the regular poes.

You can attack Volvagia with the bow, and it even takes extra damage if you use ice arrows. Doing so is a bit tricky though, and to my knowledge, the final hit still has to be done by stunning it with the hammer. So I'd recommend that you bomb-hover to be above the pit of lava so you have a clear shot to test it with - or just use cheat codes if you find it too tricky.

Dunno how well known this is, but there's invisible red rupees on top of the gate to castle town. Climbing up the chain while it's down is how you get to them. If that's too well known, for some reason if you get a butterfly to follow you while you walk really slowly with a deku stick out, it'll turn into a fairy. Oh yeah, there's also a weird thing where if you kill any overworld enemy enough, they'll keep getting bigger and bigger as new ones spawn.

I remember finding the extra heart piece in Gerudo Fortress as a kid. But I also remember hearing that it's not the only "unobtainable" heart piece. A quick Google search tells me there are a couple more, but they require Wrong Warp glitches to get you into "cutscene-only" versions of certain areas. Like in the Kakariko Graveyard there is a normal Heart Piece you need to plant a Magic Bean in order to reach it. But you can also Wrong Warp into an alternate version of this area that has a chest containing a Heart Piece in the exact same spot. Also there is apparently a glitch involving Dampe's Heart-Pounding Gravedigging Tour where you can get Infinite Heart Pieces because the game doesn't remove the Heart Piece from the prize pool when you win it. Though this sounds like a glitch that would be only found in early versions of the game.

The infinite dampe heart pieces is only in the 3ds version cause in the n64 oot if you dig up the heart piece don't collect it and leave it's permanently gone so in the 3ds they tried to fix this but inadvertently made it so you can dig up infinite heart pieces I believe there is a yearly valentines day speedrun the community does to get max hearts first

Thinking of Dampe, it's possible to get a 0.00 time in his race as an adult. You keep playing warp songs throughout the race and get the message about not being able to use it. I've watched videos were others do it. Doesn't really do much for you, but it shows up in the records in your house iirc.

10:03 - for the Ganon fight, specifically, ALL of your weapons are locked to 1 Damage (even the Deku Nut, or Hookshot; an Upgrade for them), except for the Master Sword which does 2 Damage...even the Biggoron Sword and Megaton Hammer are stuck doing Kokiri Sword damage... ...so if you store a MasterSword JumpAttack before it gets knocked out of Link's hands, you can use the Power-CrouchStab exploit to make the fight much shorter (though it is tricky, hitting the wriggly tail with such a Low-to-the-Ground attack)

A sign cannot be cut into more than 6 pieces, but you must cut the pieces in this order to even get to 6 1) horizontal slash (technically 1 and 2 can be swapped, but the rest must be done in order) 2) The final slash of a vertical slash combo (if you hit with a vertical slash before this you cannot get the piece from step 4) The easiest way to get this slash from my experience is to have link face the sign then turn 90 degrees and vert slash in place 3) vertical slash, but this must be done from the opposite side of where the second slash was done (i.e. if you did the previous diagonal slash in front of the sign this one must be from behind the sign) 4) final slash of a vertical slash combo again, but it must be done from the same side you just did the previous vert slash from 5) thrust takes of the rest of the sign 6) The pole will be the only thing left standing

The Hylian Shield can't be broken, but you can lose it. Like Likes can eat them, and while you can recover the items they eat normally, if they fall off a ledge into an abyss or leave the room, the shield will be gone. It works this way with Deku and Hylian Shields as well as the Goron and Zora Tunics. The Mirror Shield however, can't be eaten.

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this/you've covered it yet but you know those bubbles in Jabu Jabu's belly? The ones that pop & do damage when you run into them? You're "supposed" to use the boomerang to kill them from afar but a much easier method is to just chuck a deku nut on the ground near them. There's a room with about a dozen or so of those bubbles (I haven't played this game in years but I think it might be the compass chest room?) and you can pop them all with one or two nuts in about two seconds.

If we're including gliches then I think the cuccoo skip into Zora's Domain is a fun one. If you bring a Cuccoo up to the waterfall in front of Zora's domain, you can go to the left hand side and diagonally jump into the wall and then proceed to slide across it. If you do then you can EASILY slip behind the waterfall regardless of whether you have Zelda's Lullaby. There are a lot of glitches in this game, but most of them aren't quite this easy.

Water Temple Fun Facts!! In the Water Temple Room that allows you to change the Water Level within the room by striking a crystal. If you stun a Tektite before lowering the water level... It will float. Very Mysterious. Shadow Link can be stunned by Deku Nuts if you aim to the side of him instead of directly at him where he can block it with his shield. The "Shell Blade" seems indestructible when it's shell is closed; however, Dins Fire can completely bypass it's defenses. Of course you can't cast underwater so there are very few instances where you can use this. Also, "Spikes" or "Spikes Traps", whatever you wanna call them, those Metallic spiky blocks that you sometimes find that only move along a single line (There are some in the Water Temple just before the boss). They can be frozen by Ice Arrows.

When you crash the game a small yellow or red bar will appear in the upper left corner of your screen. If the bar is red you'll need to try again but if it's yellow you can enter this button combination and the game will tell you it loves you. L + R, then while holding both press Z. D-Up C-Down C-Up D-Down D-Left C-Left C-Right D-Right A + B, then while holding both press Start. This only works on N64 hardware.

The fillable fairy fountain in the Gerudo Desert can be refilled multiple times during the same game as long as you exit the area and then retry. You need to stand on the rock by the pool before you play The Song of Storms. I always stand there so the green sand enemies don't get me.

In Ocarina of Time, if you kill enough Leevers, Guays or Stalchild sometimes will appear a huge version of these that drops lots of rupees.

True, but Leevers only have one big size and Guays have a size cap after which they reset to the smallest size, whereas the big Stalchild keeps getting bigger, the size only resetting at daybreak. I suppose they didn't cap the Stalchild size because you can only see a maximum of two big Stalchildren in the course of a night. Makes for an interesting sight if you modify the game's code to lock the time of day to sometime at night.

This is very true. As for leevers, if you kill the one big one, then for a little bit you won't have to deal with the leevers trying to murder you. (I found this one when I was playing the Gamecube version of Ocarina of Time.)

Your testing with the mirror shield reminded me of one interesting detail. While normally there’s little reason to use the Hylian shield after getting the mirror shield as the latter cannot be eaten by Like-Likes, there is one thing that the mirror shield cannot do which the Hylian can: deflect physical projectiles. The mirror shield cannot deflect Octorok rocks or Deku Scrub nuts. They will simply break upon impact.

A few of my favorite easter eggs/tricks. I can't remember exactly what was in the last video, so sorry if there are any repeats. In the N64 version deku sticks do the same damage as the master sword, which makes taking down redeads and bosses much easier. Backwalking is the fastest form of movement, so you can actually reach the castle before nightfall doing that. Also, this may seem obvious, but you can complete the big goron trading sidequest as soon as you are an adult. Helped me a lot for my mq playthrough. In the forest temple, when you enter the pruple sister's room you can see her crying for her other sisters beforw you fight her. Another tip for the poe sister's/poes in general is they will dissappear if you z-target them. So using arrows without Z-targeting makes it way easier. Volvagia becomes super easy when you realize he can't hit you if you hang off the sides of the platform. It's actually climbable dispite not looking like it. Dark Link's AI will get messed up if you open the fight with a megaton hammer blow, so he won't be able to defend agaist your attacks. The fire section in Ganon's trial is much easier whith the hover boots because they let you walk over the central sinking platform.

There are 2 scarecrows at Lake Hylia as a kid, one of which lets you make the scarecrow song to use as an adult. After you beat the game, if you stay on the endscreen with young Link and Zelda long enough, your scarecrow song will play on different in-game instruments.

Probably not the right series or channel for this, but there is a fun little glitch that is simple to do for anyone at home who has completed the Water Temple. If you flip a blue tektite with the hammer while it is on land, then hookshot it back into the water, when the stun of the hookshot wears off, it'll flip and fly up to space.

The bombchu crash may be due to the bomb blasting while the dodongo tries to eat it, causing a null reference as the bomb is gone As for the deku nuts, I do recall it works with the Forest Temple ones, tho I dont remember if you have to not be targeting them to begin with The song of storms in the desert, you need to do it on a specific platfrom near by (navi will turn green on it) The Hylian shield one is probably only with a like like (who will also steal your tunic) and will be gone if you dont defeat it quickly All weapons deal 1 damage to ganon on its tail, the master sword is the only one able to deal more damage

On the statement about the combat. The original disc drive version was actually had a more fluid attacking system and noticeably didn’t have the wait-for-an-opening style of combat and looked more akin to wind waker but more smooth. But having to scrap 80% of the content and convert to cartridge meant that and many other stuff we missed out on being removed. The final combat we got (along with the areas with fixed camera angles on 2d backdrops) were a result of saving space and time during the rest of development. Also the unobtainable Piece of Heart has two others as well. However there is an extra fourth unfortunately. So close…

The DiscDrive version is nicknamed Zelda64 which was the working title at the time. All of this predated OoT’s release. It has been confirmed by the staff that OoT was developed for tne N64DD and Majora’s Mask briefly tried to use the DD for it at first but dropped to very quickly unlike OoT. That Zelda 2 thing you are thinking of the Famicom Disc System, the 64DD is something else entirely. And are trying to say Master Quest is the DiscDrive version? No. You’re mistaken on two fronts: first the DDversion was the beta version that was scrapped. Two, you’re probably thinking of Ura Zelda which was a planned expansion using the N64DD. Afterwards fans kept asking for Ura and Nintendo’s response was Master Quest, which featured zero content from Zelda Ura and was hardly anything more than rearranging the dungeons. You can fill up pond as many times as you want when its dried out. you need to be on top of the rock where Navi glows green and play the song of storms there. when I heard you say you could only do this once per save file I had remember doing it multiple times. You can get the golden scale early by breaking a fishing record as a kid, holding Z+R, and swimming to the fisherman to weigh the fish. (without Targeting anything) Best used with a petty reward like going from a 5lb fish to 8lbs, but it works, even on vc. Its a bit finnicky though. For some reason, it shifts the reward index value. This can also skip much of the biggoron sword sequence

You can actually make the game believe you have all the medallions, even if you skipped the Fire Medallion. I was messing around with Master Quest and I got the Megaton Hammer out of the Fire Temple as it was needed for later parts of the game but I didn't beat Volvagia. But doing this, I never activated the Sheik cutscene where she teaches you the Nocturne of Shadow. I just levitated over the fence to get into the Shadow Temple and proceeded as normal. So even with the Fire Medallion missing, Rauru told me that I woke up all the sages and can now confront Ganondorf. Going to the exterior of his castle, I still got the rainbow bridge and was able to enter the castle. So it seems like the game doesn't check for all medallions but perhaps it does for the Shadow and Spirit Medallions.

I have gotten cuckoos to leave me alone. Go to Zora's river, attack until it crows, jump in the river near the entrance and stay in the middle. After a few minutes they will leave. You can then attack the cuckoo again and it won't crow.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but can't even the Deku Shield block Beamos beams? Again I could just be mistaken, but if I'm right then does it really qualify as a stress test for the Hylian Shield? Wouldn't an attack that the Hylian Shield can't block be a better stress test? For example, an Iron Knuckle's ax swing? Considering this doesn't break a Hylian Shield _or_ a Deku Shield (I tried this once during one of my earliest playthroughs of the game), I think it's safe to say that shield breakage like we see in Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, or heck even Skyward Sword, is not a thing in Ocarina of Time. It's also not a thing with the Hero's Shield in Majora's Mask.

Playing through Link to the past I realized using magic powder on the yellow magic spirals makes them fairies, just like it does with antifaries. Super useful as instead of an annoying thing to dodge you can just stand there and hit it with magic powder for a heal.

My first ever OOT randomizer I beat the treasure chest game on my first attempt without the Lens of Truth. I followed the basic statistics theory used in the game shows that you pick a door between 2 doors and 1 is a goat and the other a prize. For every room I switched to the opposite cheese of whatever chest I walked up to first (switching each room actually increases your odds.)

They prevent the walkway from sinking. The platforms like the one from the big room on 1F of the Fire Temple are still activated when Link lands on them, even with the Hover Boots. Also, something I learned the hard way after many, _many_ void outs via lava is that you can't navigate the entire Silver Rupee collection puzzle with the Hover Boots on. You have to take them off to get one of the Silver Rupees. After moving the Golden Gauntlets block, it becomes a platform on the other side of the room that lets you reach a Silver Rupee. But Link can't grab the edge of said improvised platform, so if you run at it with the Hover Boots on, you fall in the lava and void out.
