This man is coming from the right perspective. My family was poor growing up, so I never asked for things that weren't needs. One year was very hard on my family, they had struggled to buy groceries. What I expected was decorating, watching TV specials, reading the Christmas Nativity & other stories, and more family activities. That Christmas Eve mom took old curtains and all night made my dolls _Christmas Robes_ on the sowing machine. Christmas morning they were on the couch; lined up in their new clothes.

SouthernIowaLady bless her beautiful soul. I can relate too. We had Christmases like this as well. 15 kids my dad only one working.. but the Scarface’s and love and small gestures parents made to see a smile on your face.. priceless... Hope you stop have the dolls.

Okay, this is so true. Instead of a parrot, my daughter wanted a cat. She said she would feed it and take care of it and clean up after it. I told her I had enough to do just cleaning up after her. She said "Nuh uh". So I told her if she could keep her room clean for one month, then I'd consider it. She started off good. Didn't even make it a week. Now every time she asks about a pet - I just walk to her room and look around. Then she looks down at the floor and just walks away shaking her head. Not even an argument.

I found out my mom was Santa when I was 7 playing hide and go seek. I found the gifts in her closet. I wasn't sad and it strangely validated my opinion about it not being real. How did he get in our home? We didn't have a fire place. I kept it to myself. My brother and I got into a fight when I am about 10 and he yells "Santa's not real!" I said "Duh!"
