I used to do drywall back in the 70s. After school and weekends id go to the job site and they would put me to work. After H.S. this was my first regular paying job. BUT, i must say I have learned a couple of fine points from your videos. You are the mud Queen.. 😊

I started using a skimming blade and I love the finish on my butt joints

Thanks for the tips Lydia! Have a great rest of your weekend! Forgot to mention I got a skimming blade! To help with butt joints! Because I don't do well! With spanning out the mud out!🌹♥️

I suck at mud so I love my skimming blade. I have a 32" that allows me to pretend that I know what I'm doing. I could be wrong, but a demonstration with a 12" probably isn't the best sell. The reason I say that is because even as a hack I still run a traditional 12" knife and 16" trowel. The wide blades are where these shine. With my 32", I can tape and load a patch that's a 16" stud bay wide and run the 32" blade with a clean 8" feather on each side. It made a dramatic shift in my confidence on patches. I still call the pros for anything bigger than a stud bay lol

Seems cumbersome to "finish" with the skimblade with that butt joint. Would you be able to finish with the taping knife u used as well? Or is that THE reason to use skimming blades? I see their purpose more in bigger sections (at least from what i've seen online). As always: your channel rocks, i've learned tons!❤❤

Same here, I don’t understand the point of a skimming blade smaller than 24”. Just use a knife or trowel. Above 24” they are awesome.

Just use the box, learn how to use the box. Then stick with a normal 12” knife….. to much switching around. If you want to knock down texture. Use plastic knife…. Cheaper also

Lots of none cense for a drywall finishing… go to Menards get cheap ones and throw away…… it’s not about the blade. It’s about the taper

Americans? Its ancient in origin

Considering that drywall was invented in America, they can call it what they like. Also, what term do you prefer?
