DS2 SL1 All Bosses Speedrun in

I probably shouldn't even put world record in the title but this is the fastest time beating the previous which was 3:17:06. Still this run had like 10 deaths and a really good run would probably be like 2:50 maybe even 2:45. Will do some more runs and try to go for sub 3 atleast I think before switching off ds2. -- Watch live at / distortion2

Dark Souls II may be the black sheep to most but I'll always treasure it. So many good memories from this game. Yes, it's "different". But that's what sets it apart from the rest imo. It's still my least favorite Soulsborne but damn how much I love it! Great to see you pick it up again, Dist. The DS2 speedrunning scene is for me the golden age of Twitch. Those crazy exploits that got patched away bit by bit! You, Sanzo and Elajjaz sweating blood to up the ante against your rival strimmers. Makes me feel that bittersweet nostalgia only vaporwave can evoke.

Why don't you get those Green Blossoms in that chest by the Dragonrider boss fight? The extra stamina regen could save a fair bit of time on boss fights where you use your whole stamina bar to repeatedly attack the boss. Also, you described early on needing a place to find a titanite shard--when you had just passed one at the top of the tower Lucatiel is first found in. It's fairly quick and easy to get, and already on your route.

The dragon isn't there because he plays original Dark Souls 2 while you probably play DS2 Shadow Of The First Sin. Maybe the Rapier has different requirements too (though he wears Cale's Helmet which gives +2 DEX)

This isn't SotFS. In the original game, once you have purchased the DLC, you don't have to go on the key hunt, they're just in your inventory.

No that was the mechanism in Dark Souls 1 with the 50% strength bonus while two-handing (8+4=12) In Dark Souls 2, your strength is simply x2 (6+6=12)

How is he killing them so easy at SL1 and base weapons?

A lot of the early game weapon in this game like the Long Sword, Mace, Club, Rapier or the Bandit/Battle axe are actually top tier weapons that can easily carry you through the whole game and even work really well in pvp. A +10 weapon with a buff, a bright bug and 2 to 3 damage rings equipped(Flynn's Ring, Ring of Blade and RTSR) will still do a ton of damage without the scaling from the levels.
