@dr.peppermintpatty4925 Sometimes, people can't give up their job to take care of a parent. Most people l8ve month to month. Unless you pretty much own your home it's not possible. Especially when you have younger children at home. Or if the parent is obese and has many other health issues. Unless you can afford the lifting equipment, it's not possible. How do you pick them up to toilet or shower them properly. Without hurting them or yourself? There are some really good facilities around these days. There are in my country anyway.

Thank you so much. I wanted to share with you my dad, who has Dementia also he is 92 and lives with me. . I showed him Ed's videos, and I was not sure how he would process them. I gave it a try he really loved them we sat and watched about 2 hours of videos. He wanted more and more he loved it. The unfortunate thing I asked him a bit later he did not remember. My dad too needs to know where his wallet is and we have to have some money in it. My dad wants us with him all times. My husband sleeps on the couch now, after my mom passed away this passed October, she was able to talk him out of going to the kitchen late nights. He has a tendency to get up and make coffee and use the stove and microwave, so we have to stay on the alert. I get up early for work, so my husband and daughter have to watch over him then . I truly understand that it'sa lott to deal with for sure. I am really glad I had them sell their house big move sense they lived in and move in with me 2 years ago we have made so many memories .It was a big move though ,they lived in another state. Thank you for sharing ,it helps me allot !!! I will show more videos to my dad, hoping he enjoys them as much as he did.❤

i took care of an old grandpa for almost about 7 years too, he is a dementia patient as well. The same question in the morning till he will sleep at night. what i do sometimes is to tell him the answer before he will ask and that will instill in his mindset. ex. he asked. what day is today? i answer, today is monday grandpa. more time passed.....i will change the situation. before he will ask me again, i will tell him that grandpa... today is monday. repeatedly . if i can sense that he will ask again then i will tell again. so in his mindset now, today is monday.

@Lenc324Ай бұрын
That’s not true , nursing homes don’t sedate patients to keep them from asking questions over and over, sometimes dementia patients become combative and may need medication to control these behaviors to protect staff and other vulnerable patients.

One evening everyone was talking about California and when they visited or lived there it was a beautiful moment everyone around the table laughing and enjoying themselves.
