This is why HS8 sells so well. Very good for rough mastering, fine for mixing, HS5 for mid focus forensic mixing. Yamaha has this game wrapped up.

I ditched my HS8s for A7X & at first I wasn't the biggest fan. Over time though i have grown to love the A7Xs. I actually plugged my HS8s in again the other day & laughed at the comparison. A7X are worth every penny.

as adam user i can say they ax models have good highs but theyre not as fatiguing or razor sharp compared to other brands and hifi systems but theyre are still detailed but more round sounding. they can be a lil bit too forgiving in that area. if a mix soudns too bright on them then the same mix will likely hurt some ears on other systems

I personally chose the HS8 over the Adam A7X and Adam T8V in my smaller listening room. I just can't come around to the AMT in the Adams. It's impressive for 15 min and sure does pack quite a bit of detail but it does so at calling attention away from mids/vocals. After an hour the tweets on Adams are grating while Yammys are quite neutral to listen to all day. The HS8 has a bit too much boomyness in my room due to rear ports and strong sub response below 50 hz. I put in rear bass traps and pulled them 3 feet into the room so the sound is quite nice now.

The Adam A7X clearly shines on the Retro Wave track. The Yamaha on Retro sounds like it's enclosed in a bottle or cave. Obviously, the Adam wins for clarity in the mids and highs, so just add a subwoofer to the Adams to complete your frequency range.

I'm surprised how close the sound signatures are. I have a preference for the Yamaha, but worry it's sound is fatiguing over a long session. KZbin audio plays at about 192kb compressed stream, so we are not hearing the last words in extension and perhaps minor differences between them, but for half the cost, the Yamaha makes a lot of sense (between these two being compared).
@JeremyCovington.

I’ve had the Yamaha HS8’s for about 10 years now. The fatigue for me is at loud volumes over three to five hours. This is only when I’m producing or mixing with others in the room. Other wise are great at a comfortable level or if your sitting out of the sweet spot.
@tylerdengler6960

The reason for the fatigue is due to the slight boost around 3khz where our ears are more sensitive.

The Yamaha hs8 have a balanced frequency, but they are not surgical; Adams can be surgical and balanced if you get used to it, it usually takes a long time, but they are not musical, and I could even say that they are boring. If I had to choose, I would go for a Yamaha hs8 + Presonus eris 3.5 or the Yamaha hs5. Thanks for the video

@@tylerdengler6960If you mix a Yamaha hs8 + hs5, it can be as good as Adam A7x in the mix (it all depends on the acoustic treatment). In the case of production, the Yamaha has a more pleasant sweet spot.

@tylerdengler6960 2 жыл бұрын
@@Thedonyura true. It ultimately depends on your ear since the main difference is around the 3 kHz range. The ADAMs sound darker to me where I didn’t really notice anything in terms of detail but puts more of a focus on the lows and mids.

I have the Adams and they’re great and super high quality. But they’re not what you need for mixing. The quality of the Adams don’t help you translate mixes because of its high quality. I’m gonna sound like a big hater but I can mix better and faster on cheap Logitech speakers with sub. Because the Logitechs are so bad I can hear and tweak every spot I need to. If it’s clean on the Logitechs, it’ll translate on most listening devices. Been using the Adams for 2 years and and adjusted every back setting and room setting to find the best environment and because most of us are home mixers, there’s no such thing as “the perfect environment” so they won’t work the best for us. I bought these because of the hype and quality and didn’t think about the quality of the room I’m mixing in first. So all in all, the Adams are great for listening to music in general. But not to mix on. Sounds contradicting but most mixers will know what I mean. So in this duel, I’d take the Yamahas. Sorry for the rant. No diss on Adam audio as well. But letting people know a little about my experience so you don’t make the same $1500 mistake I did without being prepared.

To my ears, the HS8 generally sounds cleaner and open. While the A7X has better bass extension and a very slightly warmer sound. I think the A7X's mids are a hair better because it has more body. But overall, I prefer the HS8's neutral sound.

@Zenthex
@Zenthex 2 жыл бұрын
@@yoya9311 that's in the amplitude dimension, if the a7x has a shorter decay then it's going to be a closer representation in the time dimension. at some point you'd have to decide what you're more willing to compromise on, there's significant precedent for producers to prefer accurate timing over accurate amplitude, like in the case of the ns10, which the hs8 is supposed to be based on. in that respect, i would go as far as to say the hs8 failed it's design philosophy, even though i think it's a perfectly okay nearfield monitor to use as long as you have the room for it.
