Great video. I purchased one off eBay and recieved it today. Unfortunately the seller neglected to tell me that the in-built RCD does not function! Now I either have to send off for repair and claim against the seller or return it to the seller for a refund...

I'm afraid not. There's no memory to store results or interface for connecting a printer to,.

No . There is no requirement to have your testers calibrated it is just a. Manufacturers recommendation, you can self check using a checkbox but you must keep a record of the results, I check mine once a month, but every three months is good enough just keep a record of the results.

How much would it cost for you to calibrate a megger like this? Mine wont keep a steady reading when carrying out insulation resistant test of 240v or 500v , it just flashes >500

Hi Shawn. The Check Tester isn't a means of calibration, it just allows me to ensure my testers are spouting the same sort of numbers because as an NICEIC Approved Contractor I'm required to prove to them on my annual assessments that I'm performing checks at least monthly and keeping a log. If you believe your Megger to be a bit iffy, then the best course of action is to book it back in with Megger themselves so they can re-calibrate it and, if a fault is found, put it right. It leaves you without a tester if you don't have a back-up, but there isn't much else you can do in this sort of situation.

Aside from possibly Megger themselves, probably off eBay by obtaining another model - perhaps one with cosmetic damage but with working guts. I've never had to procure specialist spares for my testers, just replacement leads and probes.
