DTS:X Pro & IMAX Enhanced: Denon 2020 X-Series AV Receivers

As a long time fan of both Denon & DTS, I'm excited. As a person from computational technologies, this whole Object based sound management makes instant sense to me. And I'm very glad computational technology has reached a point where this is now a reality. Can't wait for this to come to the X8x00H series.

Auro3D, 11.2. I found the most enjoyable experience, especially aeroplanes in dog fights awesome 😎 also centre channel Vocals clearer than any other format over dts or dobly

I think a better way of suggesting how the object based works is that you can explain that your speakers could get moved to weird angles and the receiver is still going to make the object sound where its suppose to in the room

Will there be a solution for Dolby Atmos Center Spread? I mean getting 2 channel for music back! I have a Denon AVR - X3600H Is it, or will it be possible to fix it with a firmupdate or something like that?

This is my biggest issue as of late. Sound United wont acknowledge the problem. Dolby deflects and puts the onus back on the avr manufacturer. So the consumer's concerns are not being addressed and in fact, ignored. If they choose to ignore us, they don't need our money as far as I am concerned.

I really like the idea of using two centers above and below for a stereo image in the center of your tv. I've been using the center below the tv and it never sounds quite right. Hopefully creators can use that feature.

Neural X pro is actualy called IMAX DTS PRO and from my understanding it allows you to upmix any track to a 13.1 configuration which is by itself different than 7.1.4 couse the speaker layout is different. The new DTS X/IMAX 13.1 speaker layout is similar to Auro 3D 13.1 layout, with frontal center hight and VOG speaker

Is it too early to upgrade to 8K from 4k since we do not have lot of 8k content and TVs in wide range of users choice ? Would you suggest ?

30.2 cool. I have 5.1.2. (sony str-dn1080) Only the seat left in the house. I need to buy a new home for 30.2. Also 5.1.2 sometimes goes beyond my perception ability. 30.2 sounds very strange. I think I wouldn't prefer it even if I had money and space. Greetings from Istanbul / Turkey 🇹🇷

Hi, I need some help. I'm going to buy x3700 or x4700, and on comparison chart I see that x4700 has D.D.S.C. HD Digital and AL32 Processing Multichannel and x3700 has not. I can't find much information especially on D.D.S.C. HD Digital. Can someone shortly explain what those features are and what are they used for? I'm going to have 5.1.4 atmos setup with dedicated height speakers, only to use with netflix and PC/conslole gaming. Would those features make any difference in my use case? I'm new to audio stuff, and when I'm looking into comparison chart those two features, Auro3D and more power are pretty much only differences, and since i don't care about Auro3D, I'm not sure if it justifies price difference. And for me price difference is quite big, but maybe there are other things that makes x4700 that much better.

Beyond 7.1.2 you dont get to hear the advantages of having more speakers. Its just a feel good factor beyond that.

The cinemas Atmos can do up to 128 but how many objects can the AVRs support ? Me and other people thing the the max is 16 objects for home mixes and if we remove the 7 bed layers and the LFE, we are left with 8 objects.

After the bed channels, objects are not married to a specific channel. The renderer in the AVR decides which speakers need to fire to recreate the 3D objects.

@@RBzee112 my mistake i wanted to say 16 objects not channels. Will correct this. But still want to know. Because when you rip the disk to play it on something like the shield tv, you can inspect the file with media info, and that says 15 objects. I've never seen a file with more than 15-16 objects.

Hey guys. Quick question. I understand you can process 13 channels on both x8500 and x6700 but on the x8500 you have 15 channels so it is possible to have both the layout for the Dolby atmos and dts pro and then just switch on the menu between speakers used. But is it possible to have the 15 speakers assembled and physically plug in the 13 speakers you want on the x6700 according to the audio format playing?

Thats intersting couse you need two separate calibration since there are two different speaker layouts so even though you can mannualy disconect and conect to other speaker layout, the AVR might not know a secound calibration so it will be pointless unless you run the calibration every time after switching. I might be wrong here, I don't know for sure.

My understanding is the majority of DTS:X mixes are Not object based and hence this video is misleading. Only the Wells USA mixed many in object mode, the Imax mixes have one object for the near center height position. Anyone with a recent Yamaha receiver can confirm this

Hi guys, I looking for advice. I want to know if I should get a seperate amplifier or if I am okay powering my system with the Denon 3700 or 4700. First off is there a difference from the 3700 and 4700 preamp mode? Is there a compelling reason to upgrade to the 4700 if I am running in preamp mode? I know the speaker handling power is decent, and I want to get the most or near the most out of my speakers. I am running 2 Sonance VP88 in walls, 2 LCR.5S, 2 VP66R, and a VP66 LCR. I am potentially going to add more to get a 5.2.4 or 7.2.4. Thanks guys! I’d like to see better mixing with existing channels, make better use of a 6.2 setup with the 6th being the voice of god. This can be mixed to provide full coverage but requires skilled technicians. Instead the industry is moving towards automation which is about using less skilled people and reducing costs. To make even more money, because they’re not making enough? If the cronies at the top want to sell more provide better quality mixes by using skilled engineers. End of rant.
