Godzilla King of the Monsters provided plenty of LFE to give my Dual SVS PB16 subwoofers a workout but they handled it very well. The Atmos track in Godzilla is one of the best that I have heard to date.

I have been doing crazy research for a few weeks and I wanted to ask you because I couldn't find the answers anywhere. What should the subwoofer and speaker balance be? First of all, I looked at ready systems. I saw that in ready systems, the total rms power is as much as the subwoofer, for example, I saw systems where 1000w rms speakers are 1000w rms subwoofers, and they are between 20% and 60%. For example, in the logitech z5500, the subwoofer is equal to 59.3 of the speaker power. When we look at the Samsung q990d model, the subwoofer ratio is 43.01%. What should this subwoofer ratio be for a great movie experience? My second question is about the number of subwoofers? I have seen 1, 2 and 4 users, what is the ideal one? By the way, I have a living room between 40 - 50 m². I will not make a cinema room, I will watch with a 98 inch television.

Youthman I have a calibration question. After you run full Adyssey calibration for all your speakers and 2 subwoofers I know you go back and check the levels with your Radio Shack sound meter to verify all speakers are at 75 DB. My question is when you go back and check the sub levels I know you have to raise the bass level of the subs because Adyssey always sets them too low. So when you adjust each of the subs to 75 DB and verify that all other speakers are at 75 DB do you go back and reduce each of the subs 1.5 DB to offset the combined subs 3 DB increase?

I had the HGS18, I still have it in storage. It was amazing during the day but I would still bottom it out a lot. I also had trouble with the amp in it at one point. It was really great for its time, but, the subs today are worlds better. I feel like speakers haven't advanced as much as subs in that time period. You can still have a great speaker from 15 years ago and it is great, a great sub from 15 years ago is kinda a bummer now. I guess just the drivers progressed and the DSP amps made such a difference.

Hey Youthman, quick question. Did you upgrade your SR8012 for the RMC-1 and X11? How big is the difference vs just having th SR8012? I'm currently in the stages of adding the XPA3-GEN3 to my SR8012 for the fronts for now. I just sent out my SR8012 for repair as you know and hopefully this add-on to it will help reduce the stress on it.

After you do your Adyssey Room Correction unless you go into Option and manually change Channel Level Adjust those settings will remain at 0. If you want to view the Audyssey Calibration levels results you can do It 2 ways. Go to Settings and select Manual Setup or go to Audyssey Setup and select Check Results. Again this will show you what Audyssey Room Correction did. You cannot make changes here. To make changes you select Settings then go to Manual Setup. In Manuel Setup you can change anything you want to change. Regarding your question using the Option/Channsl Level Adjust. This is designed to adjust each inputs separately if you so desire. You could change all speaker outputs completely for each input if you so desire and it will retain the custom settings you make for that input. It does not change the main settings. Another words if you view the settings in the Manual Setup the settings will reflect what Audyssey Room Correction made or if you made manual adjustments those adjustments. It's a great feature.

I rented this 4K atmos movie for Red Box myself last Sunday. My old ported Valodyne cct100 had a good workout during this movie, but could hear it struggle, so I had to turn it down some with the unwanted port noise. I’m looking to update my subwoofers to SVS because of what I’ve seen on your channel. I have been doing a lot of research and found SVS may be the best for the dollar since I don’t have a big budget. I have been thinking about the SVS sb1000 sealed vs SVS pb1000 ported and not sure which ones to get. I’ve been building my theater piece by piece and the subs are the last to be upgraded. What are your thoughts sir?
@Youthman
@Youthman 5 жыл бұрын
For movies I recommend ported subs as they tend to have more output and that extra grunt for those big explosions and deep extensions.
@davidwiley6165
@davidwiley6165 5 жыл бұрын
I also like how SVS will honor the discount for the 2nd subwoofer if bought with in one year. Now my decision is to buy the pb 1000 or 2000 for a few hundred more for each. I’m sure the 2000 will have more output with the 12” and more power.

You should definitely give the first film, Godzilla (2014), a watch. While it's "only" a DTS MA 7.1 track, the LFE on that is arguably even better than this one. Key moments are the first MUTO escape, the Hawaii attack, the wooden bridge scene (if you know, you know), and the opening nuke. One of the most tactile experiences I've ever had watching a film. It also helps that it's a much better told story with more realistic characters and a Jaws-like tone.

I have a pb1000 in my living room and a HSU VTF3 MK5 15" sub in my theater room. Honestly I would go for a second pb1000 over a single hsu vtf3 mk5. The pb1000 is a phenomenal sub for its size and price. Output wise the hsu is the clear winner. But.... the pb1000 is such a clean sounding sub with very accurate and low distortion bass that punches way above it's weight imo. Just my thoughts
