Nice set up Mark! I finally tracked down replacement tweets and speakers for the Beemer. Now that we have time on our hands we might as well get our projects done 👍😂

Thanks Niamh.....Yeah exactly, so far today I've done this video, and restored and old axe back to glory, just got to sharpen it, are you going with stock replacements for the bmw?

Not stock Mark but they are made for the E46 by MB Quart, no idea if they're good or bad but hopefully better than what's in there now. They weren't bad but they're old and one tweeter is dead. It's time ... 😂😂😂

Nice. You did a nice clean looking install on the head unit. I'm waiting for a reverse camera to show up from Amazon. Those wires that are visible behind the stereo in the footwell would bug me. lol
@DadDiaries4 жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy.... Yeah one of the little projects I've got to get round to is a pair of blacking panels for the centre console. If it wasn't for the KZbin channel I would have done them ages ago but when you factor in filming to show everyone how I did it so they can too it's more than an hour or two to do. The reverse camera is really handy, A recommended upgrade for any driver without sensors.

Hi, great video. Can I ask if the auto aerial works off the ignition on via the radio. I'm considering changing my stock Sony head unit for something with Bluetooth but just want to make sure it won't affect the how the aerial works.
@DadDiaries2 жыл бұрын
Yep works fine. Just connect the switch live for the aerial to the accessory lead on whatever head unit you get if it isn't pre wired correctly, most are and my Chinese Android unit was wired correctly in the connector block already.

First of all thanks for putting out some content on this car! It’s not as common on KZbin and I am happy for everything I can find. I just bought myself a similar Radio/Head Unit with a Reverse Camera. Can you tell me where you routed the cables and how you mounted the camera please? Thanks in Advance. Kind Regards Matt
@DadDiaries3 жыл бұрын
Hi Matt, I have done a video on the in car install which youight find useful. I mounted the camera just above the number plate in the centre and ran the cable from that behind the plate plastics and cable ties it to the rear O2 sensor loom, up behind the rear light cluster and into the cabin in the big grommit behind the battery.. then down behind the plastics at the side of the passenger seat and under the trim alongside the seat (which just pulls up) and to the dash. Hope that helps :)
@RisingLPStudios3 жыл бұрын
Hey Mate, thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately I couldn’t find your video on the install. Would you be so kind and post a link here? Also can you tell me how you managed to wire up the radio correctly? I just disconnected the stock one (Toyota 55801) and I have 5 plugs and I am unsure what they are all for and I cannot find any diagrams online. You would really help me out here. Thanks in Advance and greetings from Germany. Matt
@RisingLPStudios3 жыл бұрын
I could figure out some of the cables using a multimeter and using a list I found online. I still have no clue for some of the cables tho and also don’t know where to connect the cable for the rear camera. I suppose you have to hook it up to the same cable that triggers the reverse light? Where is that one tho, since it was not necessary on the old radio?
@DadDiaries3 жыл бұрын
I'll have a look for you tomorrow when its light and come back to you....yes you hook the activating wire to the positive wire of the reverse light

Nice video, thanks for the ideia of small subwoofer :D about tweetrs, i need them, only tweets, what you recommend?
@DadDiaries4 жыл бұрын
Thanks and glad it helped. If I'm honest I saw little difference in changing the tweeter, it's the main speaker that will give you the most difference. You could use the stock speaker with an aftermarket speaker 👍
@DadDiaries4 жыл бұрын
I didn't read your question properly did I. The stock tweeters are fine and you could just replace them with those or any reasonable 1" tweeter would be fine. I didn't really see a massive difference between the stock and the focal tweeters.
@HenriquePedroRocha4 жыл бұрын
@@DadDiaries the 2º answer is the right one ahah! i already have aftermarket speakers in back and doors. Only didnt change tweeters. i will accept your opinion and stay stock! thanks

@@DadDiaries yep just purchased the car and it appears stock on the surface so hopefully no horrors. It's more working out the wires that come with the stereo vs any additional that I need to buy and what to connect where. My screen is coming with a rear view camera bundled with it also. With any luck the stereo will arrive in reasonable time

I'm quite curious as to how you rigged the SW11 from the rear luggage to the battery.
@DadDiaries4 жыл бұрын
Down behind the battery is the loom grommet. I fed fused power from the battery to a new distribution block on the right hand side of the storage cubby behind the plastic panel (to provide power options in the future) and then connected live from the SW11 to that and ground to the nearest ground point. All switch powerand RCA signal cables went down the right hand side of the car under the plastics

Ok so on the Sony cable you have three, bare copper, red and white. On my android unit I had the cable to connect to, earth/ground, key 1 and key 2, bare wire from Sony goes to ground, key 1 goes to red and key 2 goes to white :)

@DadDiaries3 жыл бұрын
I would recommend the car yes but would I recommend it for a new driver? hmmm. its not mad power or anything but it will catch you out on a wet corner or roundabout if you are a bit enthusiastic. its is also not a practical car so if you need to carry loads or a couple of friends it isn't going to be for you. That said, If I'd have had the money and opportunity for a car like this as a first car when I passed my driving test I'd have jumped at it...I'm older and more sensible nah though...well a little bit more :)
