Its worth it to those who came here to get a free house and other benefits to rough it for a while. Many are not actually living in the tents. The people in those tents, thought that they would go to Ireland and immediately be given everything that they wanted. They have been beaten to the punch by mostly Ukrainians and 'others' from the Middle East and Africa who've already been put up in Hotels and then given the keys to apartments and houses. The accommodation supply, has reached it's capacity and become saturated, hence the tents.

The problem is there's not much political choice. The parties that are purportedly for the Irish people are too small, even with a smattering of independences. Ergo it's either more likely to be the same old, same old; or the smaller parties/independences getting together with one of the larger parties. There really isn't sadly, much of a choice.

I am an Australian (of Irish/Scottish descent going back to 1800s migration to Australia)… now in Montgomery Texas USA on a visa that gets renewed every 2 years. Recognize what you said about Australia and border control in countries bordered by sea. In Texas there is a land border and sea border.

The new EU migration pack would have us take in 30 - 50k every year, or be fined €20000 for each migrant we fail to take. Does anybody think the government will pay that fine, will they fuck. They’ll give the Refugee a tent and out onto the street’s. What we see on Mount Street is coming to every town and village. This IS going to get way worse before it get’s better.
